I have found a Josef Barabas that was born in Pusztavam Sept 12, 1913. His parents were Pal Barabas and Erszebet Stettner. This wouldn't be the correct Joseph. What was Anna's maiden name?

I believe I worked with your father at Avco Lycoming in Stratford in the early 80's. He was a good friend and very helpfull to me. We spent many hours talking about many things in life. Sometimes he was so funny and other times he could get mad as hell at me. I really loved him and miss him. I read his book "As I Remember" I wish I could get a copy now just to have it. Thank you. William Danhof Liam4607@aol.com

I haven't found any Barabas relation from Pusztavam, Hungary, with the given name of Joseph or Jozsef. Within the last few months however, I have found well over a score of Barabas family members that live here in the US who were descendants of a common ancestor who originally lived in Passaic. Barabas is a pretty common name throughout Hungary. Do you know what part of Hungary your family was from or when they arrived in the US? There are Barabas that lived in Pusztavam that I haven't been able to connect to my family tree, but that doesn't mean that they are not related to me.

I am looking for kin of my paternal Grandmother. She died way before I was born. Her last name could be any of those listed above. Numerous documents list different last names. Her first name is Elizabeth (Lisi or Liz) and she came to the U.S. from Bustevahn (?), Austria-Hungary around 1902. Her husband's name was Thomas Friedman. They were married probably in New Jersey and had one child while in New York. They moved to California prior to 1908 and settled in Butte County.

Anyone have any info on this or recognizes anything, please reply. Thank you.

Hi, David--I am looking for other Barabas family members and saw your posting. A Gustav Barabas 1854-1924 married my great grandmother's sister...his wife was Frederica Caroline Fuhrmann. They lived in northern Michigan. Gustav may have been born in Bavaria, but am not sure. His father was August, and all I have for his mother's name is Hermoine. There may have been other children, but do not know. Rumor is that August was in prison in Germany, and his friends broke him out. He either joined or found his wife on a boat to America, and came over with his family. I am actually seeking information on Frederica more than Gustav, but will start wherever I can. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Thanks
