      <description>Taken from: Pioneer Days in California &lt;br&gt;Historical and Personal Sketches&lt;br&gt;by John Carr&lt;br&gt;Eureka Publishing Co.&lt;br&gt;Book and Job Printer&lt;br&gt;1891&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Eureka, CA 1866&lt;br&gt;“The Town (is) governed by a Board of Town Trustees.” The following named gentlemen composed the Town government in 1866.”&lt;br&gt;R. W. BRETT, President of the board and James M. COX, John KELEHER, James M. SHORT, and Allan MCKAY as Town Trustees.&lt;br&gt;“The City Marshall was David FAIRFIELD; Assessor, N. BULLOCK; Treasurer, T. H,. FOSS; City Attorney, James HANNA.”&lt;br&gt;“The principal mercantile houses were on First Street, viz: JANSSEN and Co., P. H. RYAN, Thomas WALSH, L. C. SMITH and Co., ROHNER and ELLERY, W. J. SWEASEY and HENRY Bros.. M. H. BALDWIN was in the harness and saddleery business. John POLLARD kept a shoe shop; WEEK and SHORT a drug-store. WALKER also kept and drug-store. The post office was also on First Street, with Charles HENEY as post master. C. E. BIGELOW ran a blacksmith’s shop. There were two hotels, both on first Street – the old Lick House, recently pulled down, then kept by Tom KELLY and the Russ house, kept by E. Barbar&lt;br&gt;DOB: unknown&lt;br&gt;Death: unknown&lt;br&gt;m: unknown&lt;br&gt;wife: Mary Elizabeth Hooper "Mollie"&lt;br&gt;DOB: March 31, 1866 in Pine Bluff, Arazonia&lt;br&gt;Death: November 15, 1955 Dalla Texas, buried in Durant,Oklahoma&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Children are:&lt;br&gt;1.) Roscoe Barbar "Ross"&lt;br&gt;DOB: December 1885&lt;br&gt;Death: March 16, 1949 probibly in Dallas Texas, as my father remembers his Uncle Ross bringing his grandmother up to Carrier Oklahoma to visit, when my father was very young.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;2.)Annis Barbar (female)&lt;br&gt; That's all I have and I have been calling my Aunt's and Uncle's to get as much information as I can and this is it. She was married to William Irene Newman on 10-31-1891&lt;br&gt;in Clinton,New York. Her parents were Francis and Millicent Barbar (We have two spellings)Any help?</description>
