This particular Valentine Barber is likely the father of Eunice who married Howland Soule (Soules, Souls, Sole, Soles) and lived next door to Valentine in 1810. He and Eunice sold their lot to Jeremiah Barber in 1816 and moved to Gallia Co., OH. Valentine and Jeremiah also appeared to be living next to each other in the 1800 census for Windham, Greene Co., NY. Per G.T. Ridlon's 1926 book on the Soules, George & Mary Bush Soule lived near Windham in 1800. I think that they likely could have had a son Howland born about 1775 who married Eunice Barber born about 1782, either near Windham or else Canaan, Columbia Co., NY where the Valentine Barber family appeared to be in the 1790 census. Howland and Eunice Soule's known children were Valentine b1801, Harriett b~1805 and Howland 1818. Does anyone have more on this family?
