Liz,
There are a lot of Barber's in NY during the time that you are looking for.There is a Valentine Barber on the 1820 Ontario Co,NY census. He was living in the town of Benton and the house number was 253.This came from an index for Heads of Household so the children are not listed.Living next door to Valentine in house number 252 is Jeremiah.Then there is another Jeremiah Barber in Middlesex House number 72. I hope this helps in some way.
