Michael Barber came to England because of the Potato Famine. He was probably born in 1827. He married Ann Savage, aka Caveney, prob. b.1828 on 30/6/1850.They had 9 children; Margaret b.1851, Ann b.1854, James, b.1857, Catherine b.1857,(twins), Patrick b.1859, Mary Ellen, b.1861 (all in Manchester), Michael b.1863 at Heywood, Margaret Ann b.1866, John b.1870 (last 2 in Bolton). He died in 1897,his wife in1879. James married Jane Beamon in Bolton in 1883. He died in 1922, his wife in 1944. They had 8 children, including James b. 1891, and Jane b. 1902.
