Who is my great grandfather, born 1879 Ottiglio It, died 1965 in Portland Or. He was married to Caroline, can't find her maiden name, 1884 It died 1957 also Portland Or. They had 4 children, Julia 1912-1979, who was my grandmother, she also had a twin sister Mary, not sure if she is still alive, brother John M 1914-2002, Frank Joseph 1922-1990. All 4 were born and died in Portland Or. as far as I know. I believe Francesco's father's name was Michael. I can not seem to find anything beyond that. I'm hoping that someone will have information on even one of these family members.

Thanks
Michele

BARBERIS in La Morra

Still looking for others connected to a BARBERIS family in La Morra, Cuneo, Piedmont. There are still BARBERIS families living there, according to Italian whitepages. My GG grandfather was GIOANNI BARBERIS - possibly a cabinet maker - his son, my G grandfather, was PIETRO BARBERIS and his son, my grandfather, was FRANCESCO BARBERIS b. La Morra 1881. PIETRO BARBERIS married LUIGIA FERRERO, also of La Morra. This family later moved down into Monaco. Any information, anyone?
Tina Oates

I stumbled across this old message and it may or may not still be an open question, but I believe Diane is widowed and living in Florida. I'm not sure what last name she is using but it is probably Muir. You could try to see if the old tv station would put you in contact, WMBD in Peoria. Her daughter, I believe, was in Chicago and now living in Europe.

Hello Joan,
My grandfather FRANCESCO BARBERIS was born in La Morra ( sometimes called just 'Morra' these days ), Cuneo, Piedmont N. Italy in 1881. He was the son of PIETRO BARBERIS and LUIGIA FERRERO, both residents of La Morra. Pietro's father was GIOANNI BARBERIS a cabinet maker I believe. Grandpa had a sister FRANCESCA BARBERIS ( at least her called her 'Cesca) and at least one brother.
I know the family later moved to Monaco and my grandpa came to London sometime after the 1901 census I think and he married my grandma in 1904 in London.
I think you have been in touch with my cousin Roger Barberis in Manchester.
Can you help me to throw any light on other relatives or ancestors. I do not know who Gioanni's wife or parents were and would appreciate any help or info you could offer.
I know there are still BARBERIS and FERRERO families living in La Morra - I keep trying to pluck up courage to write a general letter to them!!
Tina

There has been a Barberis presence in England since about 1905 when my grandfathers family arrived here. His mother was famous for hanging her pasta out to dry in the garden despite the steams trains close by! Or so I am told. My father remembers a big family re-union in Turin after the war at a restaurant overlooking the River Po. Does this link with anyone out there. My Grandfather was Alberto and he had a brother and a sister called Vincent and Theresa.

Hello Barberis researchers,
I have made contacts with my Barberis cousins in Piemonte, Italy and I have found that the BARBERIS surname is a very common name in Torino. When one looks in the Torino phone book there are at least 20 pages of BARBERIS' listed today.
Please contact me by e-mail. I maybe able to help you with your research if you are getting started, I can help you with a letter in Italian for the parish priest from to the comune your relatives originate, but the BARBERIS name is very concentrated in Piemonte region and a detail of the exact location origin of your relative is more necessary than his first name.
Joan Barberis Zullo - Jacksonville, Florida

I am looking for information on my great grandparents, Frank and Domenica (Reva) Barberis. I believe they emigrated from Casale or Trieste, Italy but they entered the U.S. on French passports. Ultimately they settled outside Peoria,IL. Thank you!
