ELLENBURG CENTER — Elizabeth R. Barcomb, 86, of Star Road, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Ellenburg Center, on April 28, 1920, the daughter of James and Hattie (Colburn) Ryan.

She was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg and taught catechism for many years. She was a member of the Court Little Rose Catholic Daughters of America and the St. Edmund's Altar Rosary Society. She was an avid reader.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard J. and Lorraine Barcomb of Cape Cod, Mass., Roland "Dan" and Carol Barcomb of Lima, N.Y., Lowell W. and JoAnn Barcomb of Lake City, Texas; a daughter, Karen Barton of Ellenburg Center; five grandsons, Jason Barcomb and companion Shelly Cheseman of Lima, Joshua and Liz Barcomb, of W. Bloomfield, N.Y., Shane Washburn of Albertville, Ala., Lonnie and Michelle Washburn of Lake City, Texas, John Barton of Malone, four granddaughters, Jackie and Bruce Amo of Rochester, Shannon Barton of Ellenburg Center, Jericho Barcomb of Rochester, Sarina Barcomb of Lake City, Texas; great-grandchildren, Brittany and Tyler Amo, Brady O'Connor, Abby Barton, Taylor, Tanner and Macy Washburn; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband Richard A. Barcomb whom she married Dec. 24, 1942, died on June 18, 1983; her parents also died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E. F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday from St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
