There is no other information as to date or location. Edith appears to be approximately 6 or 7 years old.

If you are related to any of the above people and would like to have this photograph at no charge, please contact madamew@hotmail.com.
Some of the hearsay is that the Bardins are orginally from SC. But as far as I have been able to get is A.S. Bardin born in VA. Did you check out the website - House of Josey - yet? If you go to that site it will tell you that a collection of CD's have been donated to a libary somewhere around you. They can be bought too but @ $100.00 a disc, too rich for me. If that libary is close to you and you go make sure to take a mess of notes or pic or if they will let you print from them, I would appreciate copies.
I'm in Anderson, SC. I grew up in the Atlanta area though. I decided to move up here to be close to my mom's family. I never really had a chance to know my dads family. I guess that's why this research is so important to me. Just learning about where I came from and how big the family is really means a lot to me.

Hi- ran across your post completely by accident. Have you found any more information on Berry Hodges? I am a descendant of his 2nd wife, Sisley Young Hodges, through their daughter Martha Adeline Hodges. On gggrandmother Martha's death certificate, it lists her father Berry's birthplace as Tennessee. That's the only info I have on him other than the 1850 & 60 Pontotoc censuses, and one article that talks about how he knew the Indian Tishomingo personally. Thanks for any help you may have on the Hodges line.

I have quite a bit on Nancy Cook and family, but I don't see that it ties to your Henry Cook. Here's the brief version:
Nancy Cook-b Sept 23 1789-d Dec 31 1830
Parents: Jacob Cook b 1769-d Oct 23 1830, Celia Horn b about 1765, d Mar29 1829
Siblings: John F. Cook b about 1787, Charity Cook b about 1791, Celah (Selah) Cook b about 1793, William Cook b about 1795, Henry V. Cook b about 1797.

Nancy and siblings all born in Wayne County NC

I have Jacob's parents and then the Cook side back to Phillip Cooke b Dec 27 1589 in Bristol, England if you want any of that. It's been so long that I've looked at this I'm not sure where I got it all - I know that Nancy Cook and her parents/siblings came from my grandmother's (Bardin) records, and my aunt Lorraine's (Bardin) research. Both of these relatives have since long passed away.

Let me know if I can help further.

Jan Evans

Bobby,
I am not a descendant of Woodard, but I am a cousin. I am descended from Woodard's bro Andrew Jesse (1779-1845). I would like to make the reunion if I can swing it. Please put me on your "reunion contact" list. Do you have any info on the ancestors of Woodard's father John. I lose the trail there, but suspect his father or grandfather was Jacob Bardin, b. abt. 1705 in the same area, although Wayne Co was not organized yet. I'm still on the hunt for the immigrant ancestor.

Joe Bardin -- Baytown, TX -- 281-422-8609
joe.bardin@comcast.net
Guntown is now in Lee co Mississippi; however, one of my Tutor lines settled there ca1850 for a short time; so I have heard of Guntown. Saltillo is also in Lee Co; they are towards the Pontotoc area, so would be in the general area early on. Will check out Lee Co records to see when the Bardins were there.

Perhaps research in the future will provide answers we can share. Thanks, again for your response, I appreciate the suggestions.

Betty Hellums Rowland
Williamsburg VA

Many of the Bardins of this line went to Guntown MS, from Wayne County
NC - I don't know if Guntown is in Pontotoc Co. You might also look at Saltillo, MS. There was a family
bible, but it has been long ago lost, to my knowledge. Nancy's
grandfather fought in the Revolution. My line is through her bother
Henry Horn Bardin. Sorry I couldn't help you.

Jan

Re: Nancy S. Bardin Hodges

Jan,
Thanks for your response. I am primarily searching for information on the Hodges line; specifically Berry Hodges and his children. To present, it has been difficult to find any information on his first wife, Nancy S. Bardin; in fact, I just found her maiden name by serendipity. This query was placed in hopes that someone researching the Bardins would be able to help me find more information on the Hodges.
I am looking for a source such as a bible or birth record to document her birth date (as her stone actually only indicates her birth year) and the marriage date. Am also hoping to identify when/where she and Berry met and where they were residing previous to their marriage which I suspect occurred in Pontotoc Co Mississippi; but as the marriage records do not exist for this time period, I can not document the actual marriage date/place. Some research indicates that several of her siblings did come to Pontotoc Co, but I have not been able to determine just when. Berry and his father were there by 1840.
As the 1850 census indicates Berry Hodges had a daughter, Nancy, born ca 1846-47, and he has remarried after Nancy Bardin's death in 1846; it is uncertain whether this child is the daughter of Nancy Bardin or of Sisley Young, his second wife. So far she has only been documented in the 1850 census and no further information has been discovered whether the child lived into adulthood and married.
So, I very much appreciate your offer of information, but at this time, I am not actively researching the Bardin lineages. Again, thanks for responding to my query.
