I am looking for the daughters of James and his wife. My
GGGrandfather married Elizabeth Bardsley in New Castle Delaware. I know that James and his family lived in New Castle until 1849 when they relocated to Philadelphia. The wedding announcement stated that her family was living in Philadelphia in 1850. I know that James had 3 daughters and three sonsin 1846 when they were attempting to return to England and their ship (Thomas P Cole) caught on fire and they returned to Philadelphia.
ANy information you can supply on this family would be VERY helpful

Hello! I talked to my grandfather, and he told me that he remembered Hannah Bardsley. All he remembered of Edward was that he was always in his room and when he wanted to talk to Leigh, it was always very brief and VERY formal. And both he and Samuel were always tinkering and building things/tearing them apart. Apu mentioned an invention for Samuel Breward Bardsley Float-valve operating mechanism for flush tanks. Apu (grandfather) is looking for more information.

My grandfather married Ingeborg Gugel, she came over from Switzerland. Apu met her while he was in the war. Together they had my mom, Gwyneth Bardsley. Married Steven Needham, divorced and remarried to a Sewter.
I moved away from PA in 2001 to pursue college. Thank goodness I'm almost done!!!!!
Hi Mary,
I tried again but my e mail bounced back again. I don't understand why it doesn't work. Anyway, I have an awful lot of information about the Bardsley's and associated familys that I would be happy to share with family but am not too keen on sharing with the world at large. I am sure that we are cousins of some sort. Your grandmother Hannah (daughter of Edward Elmer Bardsley) and my father Leonard (son of Winfield Scott Bardsley) were first cousins. Winfield was born in 1867 but didn't marry until 1909, so my father was younger than Hannah. Leonard was born in 1913. Edward and Win were close and they were in business together for awhile. When William ran for City Council he sold his stationary store on Germantown ave. to his sons and it became EE and WS Bardsley & Co. Winfield later sold his interest to Edward.

I would like to know what you have and what you would like to have. I have gone back to William's grandparents and have some info on the various spouses families. I would love to have more info. on Edward's children and grandchildren.

If all else fails I can send you stuff by snail mail. Or, maybe we are neighbors. I live in Anne Arundel Co. Please write me at keyab@aol.com and let me know how we can connect.
Ann

Hi there! It sure sounds like this is the same family. To explain who I am, my grandfather was Harriet Bardsley's son Owen Patterson and my father is Owen's son Gardiner.

The information that I have is basically the information that I put in my first message on here. Since I posted that message, I found more names of Jacob and Charlotte's children. I'm just looking for names of Jacob's parents, grandparents, etc. Would you be able to fill in some of the empty spaces in my family tree?

Thanks,
Kelly

The Bardsley surname is thought to have originated in the township of Bardsley, between Oldham and Ashton-under-Lyne in Lancashire.

The Bardsley's of Hyde probably migrated to the town through Ashton and Dukinfield. I have many Bardsley's from this line in my tree.

Alas I do not have your Bardsley's. Do you have any dates or other leads that I might be able to make the connection through?

I am looking for any information on my ancestors.

Here is what little I know, I hope it helps.
James Bardsley and Sarah Bardsley both died in Maysville, KY in 1849 (Within a couple of days of each other, I believe of Cholera)
George W. Bardsley born in Louisville or Maysville, KY 2/22/1844
John C. Bardsley born about 1838
Agnes J. Bardsley born about 1840 either in Louisville or Maysville, KY.

The only census I find them in is 1850 and they were at that time Orphans living with a family with the name John Henry Wolf. After that I don't show them being in KY. I can follow George to Kansas and then to Colorado where he died in 1928. But I have completely lost his Brother (John) and Sister (Agnes).

I also really don't have anything on James and Sarah other than what is listed above. .

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello, I am trying to find information about my great-grandmother, Eliza Butterworth (nee Bardsley). She was married to Samuel Butterworth in 1905 in Ashton Under Lyne, UK, and emigrated to Canada around 1910, and lived in Hamilton, ON. She and Samuel had two daughters, Doris and Vera(my grandmother). She was born around 1882-3 in Ashton and had a sister named Mary that lived in Ashton as well. I have very little to go on other than this, but I am hoping someone has information about her. If anyone has any information on her, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Robert Butterworth.
