I am not related personally but have found for a coworker of mine, his family, that Simon Barend b. 1852 married an Annie (Cohen?) and had a daughter Mildred who married Philip Marks. They had a daughter Ruth B. Marks in 1925.Ruth passed away 2005 in Boca Raton,Florida of colon cancer.Mildred also had a son Charles but not with Mr. Marks although he grew up as Charles Marks and lived in Brooklyn.Mildred died in 1972 in Syosset,NY.

Descendents of Charles Barend and Amelia Nathan

I am interested in making contact with the descendents of Charles Barend (b. abt. 1827) and Amelia Nathan, both born at London, England. Amelia died at England and Charles came to the United States with his three sons about 1877. All three sons were born at England.
Those sons are:
Simon Barend, b. 1852
Morris Barend, b. 1861
Emanuel Barend, b. 1864

Simon, Morris and Emanuel were all cigar manufacturers who worked in New York City. Simon, Emanuel and their father, Charles, stayed in New York City, and died there. They all lived in Brooklyn.

Morris, who married Mary Burns, had four children, and then moved his family to 171 Boyd Avenue, Jersey City, New Jersey sometime between 1901 and 1909. The family is shown on the 1910 Census as living at Jersey City.

The four children of Morris and Mary Barend are:
Charles Barend
Samuel Barend
Bessie Barend
Ralph Barend

It is known that Ralph Barend did not have any children, and died in the 1970s at Mill Valley (Sonoma County), California.

It is not known whether Samuel Barend had any children. It is known that he was married to a woman named Rose V. (Maiden Name Unknown). It is believed that they divorced, because she died at New Jersey in the 1990s and he died at Pinellas County, Florida in 1954.

It is known for sure that Bessie Barend married Louis Malaussena, and they had four children:
Louise Malaussena
Robert Malaussena
Elizabeth Malaussena
Arthur Malaussena

It is known for sure that Charles Barend married Mary Galvin and they had several children, including at least one son. His name is also Charles, and he died at Sevierville, Tennessee in the 1990s.

I am descended from Bessie Barend and her son, Robert Malaussena. If there are any cousins out there, please contact me.

E-mail: dogandbirdlady@yahoo.com.

Thank you.
