It has been 11 years since your post. Have you check Methodist church records? They published newspapers or magazines and books with biographies with info about their members and ministers... including obits.
I was intrigued by the name Duncan Barentine because my great grandmother, Patricia ie Pattie ie Marthey Frances Barentine married my great grandfather, James Henry Duncan....She was born in Georgia and moved to Arkansas near Cabot where she met "Jim" and married about a year after arriving here. It is my belief all the Barentine ie Barrentine people are related. My great grandmother's parents were Silas Monroe and Emily ie Emila (Morris) Barentine. I have not proved it yet but I believe my Silas' father was also Silas Barentine both were born in SC.
