Robert L. Barger
Robert L. Barger, 83, of North Huntingdon Township, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Sept. 4, 1928, in Charleroi, he was the son of the late Walter L. and Mary (Matthews) Barger. A resident of North Huntingdon for the past 55 years, Mr. Barger was a member of the former Country Hills United Methodist Church, North Huntingdon, and was a retired division superintendent from Consolidated Natural Gas Transmission with 40 years of service. Robert was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the Army, a 68-year member of the National and Pennsylvania State Grange, served on the North Huntingdon Township Zoning and Hearing Board for numerous years offering his services without compensation, enjoyed camping and tailgating with their RV and enjoyed and was an avid Penn State football fan. He is survived by his wife, Lois A. (McColligan) Barger, to whom he was married 58 years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey L. and Joann Barger, of Bridgeport, W.Va., and Timothy R. and Kelly Barger, of North Huntingdon; and two grandchildren, Jeffrey R. Barger and wife, Kirsten, of Herndon, Va., and Jennifer M. Barger, of Bridgeport, W.Va. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Donald, Herbert, Wayne, James and Clyde Barger. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, Relatives and friends will gather at noon Saturday in the funeral home and proceed to West Newton Cemetery chapel for committal services and interment at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Zona of First United Methodist Church officiating.
