I was Nancy Barger, born in Rowan County, NC and have traced my family back to George Henry Berger who immigrated to the US in the 1700's. I am interested in finding any other relatives in my line who are researching the family.

Ok, here is the story Mammaw Hacker always told us. (Mollie Campbell Hacker, wife of Clabe, BLACK JIM HACKER's SON). I don't remember all the details all but I heard that Jim had to go to prison for something having to do with the KKK. Mammaw said that someone had disrespected a wife or sister and that Jim and another fella tried to make it right somehow. He was finally let out of prison and was playing his fiddle at a gathering and Mr. Barger killed him. His wife, Nancy, then walked into a whirlpool and drowned herself. I will have to talk to my children to try to get the rest of the story.

My descent is from Christian Barger and Eliz. Baer and through their son, Alexander (1814-1892). Alex. was born in Virginia, but migrated to Indiana where he married Mary E. T. Wooden, then they lived in Benton County, Iowa. They had four sons, James Louis, Wm. Henry, Christian Dale, and Francis who died young.

James Louis Barger was my gr-great grandfather, a veteran of the Civil War. His daughter Edith married John Winterbourne. Their son, Frank, was my grandfather. I have photos of James Louis Barger's family.

THIS IS AN ANSWER TO MY OWN QUESTION, JUST THOUGHT SOMEONE ELSE MAY BE INTERESTED. MOM SAID FRANCES WAS BURIED BETWEEN TELFORD AND JOHN A BARGER AT THE CHARA BARGER GRAVEYARD. SO APPARENTLY HER GRAVE IS NOT MARKED EXCEPT WITH A STONE BECAUSE ROLLAN AND I DID NOT FIND HER GRAVE, AND THERE WAS AN UNMARKED STONE BETWEEN THE TWO GRAVES.
GAYNELL SCOTT BARGER

That's Tilford Barger on the one side, not Telford.
Mava,
I believe Wyland Barger to be the son to my GGG-Grandfather, Henry Barger of Morgan County, Tennessee. If this is true, he had two brothers, John and Allen Barger. Allen is my GG-Grandfather. I've done some work on this family but I've never been able to prove that Wyland was Henry's son or brother to John and Allen. They lived close to each other and ages would be about right.
Let me know if I can be of further help.
Carl

Looking for any information on Wyland/Wiley Barger, my GGG Grandfather, born about 1782, died 1850 in Bradley County, TN. Does anyone know who his parents were? Did he have siblings? His son, also Wiley, married Maryann Elizabeth Cates. Their son, Leonidas "Lee" was my Great Grandfather. I have information on Wiley, Jr. and Lee which I will be happy to share. Lee died in 1958. I have photos of both him and Wiley, Jr.

Mava

My Dad didn't discover his family until he was in his late 50's. Then it was only part of them. and my father's dad, Oscar was married to a Cherokee woman, she died when Dad was 3 yrs old.
My grandfather's name was Oscar Barger. I understand that he died in Texas of TB. My Father was James Oscar Barger born in Arkansas in 1915. He married a Cherokee woman named Gladys or Glad Eyes, I'm not sure which. My father had a sister name Carrie that died of TB when she was 2-3 yrs old. Does any of this sound like anyone you may have read about?

My father's mother was a Cherokee Indian. Her name was either Gladys or Glad Eyes, I'm not sure which. Gladys died of TB approximately 1918. My father's sister, Carrie, also died of TB. My grandfather Oscar moved to Texas, I believe, after that I know very little. I guess my father was adopted and moved to Michigan. Does anyone know this lineage?

Hey, I know who William A. Buffenbarger was because he was my dad's Grandfather, and my father was named after him. He was indeed the son of Salmon M. and Melinda J. Powell. My father died in 2004, but knew all of the locations mentioned in Clark County. My brother and I visited the Buffenbarager Cemetery when our uncle died in 1973. We hve pictures of the Buffenbarager road sign and pictures of tombstones in the cemetery. The Talafero tombstone was very interesting, with occult signs on it. I have a brother in Indianapolis who would love to have a large Buffenbarager reunion.
My father was William Nelson Buffenbarger, son of Raymond, son of William A, son of Salmon M., son of George Washington Buffenbarger. My cousin has this traced back to Johannes Pfaffenberger, born about 1701 in Germany, and died about 1701 in Germany.
We have found additional information concerning Lucinda Back. She was the daughter (b. 1836) of John Clements (b. 1800 in Virginia and Elizabeth Turpin) and married Benjamin Back on the 23 NOV 1852 in Pike Co., IL. She later married my 3rd Great Grandfather William Y. Barger on 11 FEB 1858 in Sangamon Co., IL. I hope these additional facts can ring a bell with someone because we are still searching for death dates and burial information for William and Lucinda. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
