Meriden--Alice G. Baril, 86, of 187 Paddock Ave., formerly of Waterbury, died Monday, Feb 20, at Coccomo Memorial.

Miss Baril was born Jan 30, 1920, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Alfred R. and Aurore Baril. She worked at the Bristol-Babcock Co. for many years. She served as president of the Corporal Coyle Post of the American Legion Auxiliary in Waterbury and spent many years in a duck pin bowling league.

Her hobbies included participating in the knitting class at the Meriden Senior Center.

She leaves a brother, Eugene H. Baril of Meriden. Two brothers, Norman R. Baril of Waterbury and J. Francis Baril Baril of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister, Florence Murray of Valrico, Fla., are deceased.

Arrangements: Graveside service 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 East Main St., Waterbury. Arrangements by John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden 06450.

I am a granddaughter of Bernadette Louise Baril, and am just beginning to learn about my family history. This is the first site I have been on, and I'm excited to discover there may be relatives who will contact me because of this message. My grandma is the daughter of Louis Joseph Baril born 29 Jul 1893 in Gentilly, POLK, MN and Laura Bertha Demarais born 21 Nov 1898 Gentilly, POLK, MN. Papa Louis was the son of Louis Baril and Maria Dufault. This is all I have so far. My dad recalls Papa Louis playing cards and swearing in French. We think they moved to Minnesota from somewhere near Quebec. I look forward to hearing if anyone out there may know who my family is.

This gravestones was recorded by Matthew Labbe during a 1999 survey of an overgrown part of St. Augustin Cemetery in Manchester, N.H.
This is one of twenty-five stones found by Matthew, of which he was able to make out only 17 inscriptions.
Last fall the church, in their attempt to sub-divide and sell this portion of the cemetery, removed the gravestones to the back of a maintenance shed.
Cemetery workers then took the claw of their backhoe to the ground in an attempt to determine if human remains could be found. No bones were found, although they desecrated nearly every gravesite with their backhoe.
Neighbors and local historians have complained and the case has now been handed over to the New Hampshire Attorney General.
Local historian Dick Duckoff found records compiled by the American-Canadian Genealogical Society that shows 11 of the deceased were buried at St. Augustin Cemetery. He has found additional information that shows that Works Progress Administration workers noted the stones in a 1938 survey of cemetery inscriptions at St. Augustin Cemetery and other city cemeteries. He estimates as many as 39 graves could be in the area.

Rosario Baril, aged 2 years, 11 months and 28 days, died Tuesday at the home of his parents, George and Florida Baril, 6 Race Street. The burial took place at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon in the family lot in St. Joseph's cemetery, Undertakers Joseph Albert & Son in charge.

I am not familiar with the name Baril but am certainly interested in the A. Rattie you have in your lineage. Where were they married? Where was he from? Do you have a date of birth or place of birth? Do you belong to any genealogy society? I belong to the American Canadian Gen Soc. They are masters at what they do. Its based out of Manchester, N H and I'm told Woonsocket has a great Gen. Soc. was born on March 23, 1853 and married Leonce
Remo (told by family members that the name
was originally spelled either Remeau or
Remeaux). Leonce was French-Canadian and my
grandfather was one of at least 10 children
and named John Joseph, born on March 4, 1864
in Bark River, Michigan. Leonce and Agnes
had migrated from Canada to Michigan. The
family spoke only French but my grandfather

Morand, Grimard and Douville are three differents families came from France, Europa, and were established at Ste.Anne-de-la-Perade, Co.Champlain, Quebec, Canada.
The marriages between these three families bring the surnames. After the marriages it is the use to have the surname of their father and mother as Morand/Grimard,
Morand/Douville or Grimard/Douville to identify differents lineages. Some one else may have others explanations.

Sadly enough, my Ottawa-based family members do not know the origins of our family name. After many Thanksgiving dinner discussions/disagreements, I need to find the truth! Is there any connection between the Baril lineage and the Berrea's ??
I've found a Canadian Baril family tree on the Internet that does list a few Berrea members. But they suddenly appear and then disappear. All of the Canadian Berreas' are related to me and the names were unfamiliar.

I can get accurate info from my mother who is Aurore Marie Baril Bessette; but, for now... There were Marie Jeanne, Albert, Cecile, Emily Rose, Aurore Marie, Irene, Claire, Blanche, Girard, René, Bernard. I must be leaving some out. There were 13 births and 11 lived to adulthood. Girard is one who died as a child. I can get dates and spouses I think. Mom is now 80 yrs. but is still sharp, so she will be of help. I also have the siblings of Jean Baril listed. if I tried to follow all these name to connect families it would be hard I
have checked our Ron Baril web page and they all have the same names bouncing
in there. I believe they were definatley Barils as I have documents saying Barry with (Baril) on the end
I guess my ggrandfather didn't want to loose his heritage Alexander was born in Canada but married Sophia Brunelle
of Milton Vermont on the Baril site many Baril's married into the Brunelle line. Sophia's parents were both born

There are 2 Donna Baril one in USA, and Donna Barill in Canada. The Canadian one was changed by accident however we are all part of the bigger picture. Most Baril/Barill names are repeated several times in history, which contributes to a lot of confusion. And some people went by the second names rather than the first. I think they did that just to confuse us further. HAHA. D.Barill

I have just started researching and now know that our family history decends from Nazaire Baril and Rose Valois. They had 6 children, some of whom migrated to Lake Linden, Michigan. Our lineage decends from the son, Noah Baril born May 17, 1861 in Canada. He married Marie Louise Pelland. I have a birth record for Zepherine Baril born Jan. 23, 1891 in Schoolcraft Twp. Michigan. This was found in the records of Mrs. Cordelia Garon (Baril) his presumed wife. The marriage licanse lists him as Severin Baril and Parents listed as Noah Baril Marie Louise Pelland. Anyone with info. on a connection from Noah Baril Marie Louise Pelland toward present day please write, I have some info. to share.

Looking for B-M-D info on CALIXTE BARIL & CLAUDIA PARADIS. All I know is that they were the parents of ROSE BARIL, b - 16-3-1895 in Ste Sophie, Megantic, Canada. Rose died 17-8-1977 in Lawrence, Essex Co. MA. She was married 6-9-1915 in Lawrence, MA to JOSEPH ALPHONSE ALBERT ROY who was the son of NARCISSE ROY & DEMERISE PARADIS. Claudia & Demerise were sisters. Rose's godparents were FRANCIS BARIL & MARY LAMBERT. Could Francis be a brother to Calixte?
