Hi Margaret
Thanks for the reply I was hoping to get a picture of George. The reason I am looking is I work for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and we maintain the graves in Balderton Church and we have been putting on displays around the counties we work in and I have been trying to source Photo's of local soldiers. If you know any of the family that might have a photo or more information I would be most greatful
Regards
Pete

The info I have found on my family says William Barks was born in 1750 in Frechenfeld, Germany and died in 1776 in the Rev. War. He married Catherine Reinhardt before 1770 in Lincoln County, N.C. William and Catherine had 4 children, Jacob (my ancestor), Hunteel, Catherine and William. Jacob and Hunteel were given land in Bollinger county for their dad's service in the war.
Can you add anything to this info or have you heard differently.
I found on one site that someone tied us somehow to the Maryland Berg/Barrick/Barks', but I could never make that connection.
Kim
"Berg (Barrick) Families of Frederick County, MD" by Eloise Barrick Weller will have tons of info. The book is out of print but I have an excellent library that was able to get an inter-library loan from the Ohio State Library (I believe). The University of Michigan Library also has a copy.
If you would like more info, contact me at klbarks@comcast.net
I would love to know if Shenandoah Co is where the family settled after leaving Monacacy Manor, Frederick, MD.

Our Barks (here in MO) are German (Berg) and their daddy fought and died in the revolutionary War before the 4 orphans joined Bollinger and came from North Carolina to settle the area south of St. Louis by about 200 miles. Area went from the Spanish to the French and was bought by the USA over teh 4 years this all happened.

My Noah was the son of John and Elizabeth Barks. I have seen the name spelled Barrick as well. I suspect they were German since he married a woman of German descent in an area heavily populated by Germans (Shenandoah Co., VA). I know nothing about Noah's or his parents' place of origin. I first find Noah in Shenandoah Co. when he married.

I understand that there were Barks in Frederick, MD, which is 50 to 60 mi from Shenandoah Co. Perhaps he was originally from there? Do you know anything about that family?

Clyde Hobson Barks, b.15 Aug 1899, married Zena May Dillard b. 1904. Zena was from Klamath Co., Oregon. Because I got this information from a record handwritten by my grandmother, Mary Lou Bussey, who also lived in Klamath County (Lorella), I think that Clyde probably met Zena there and stayed. The record I have also lists children; Maxine May Barks b. 1923, and William P. Barks b.1925

The funny thing is we're from all over the place. I believe my Great Grandfather was from Michigan. I think My Grandfather was from New York. I Believe my father was from West Virginia. Finally, i'm from Delaware. This is pretty much where my side of the Barks Family Resides today. I did learn alot about my Great Grandfather recently though. But apparently He had 2 different marriages with 2 different sets of children. That is what i'm most interested in.

Hi Jane my name is Howard Gurney( born Howard Barks) I noticed a few names that are similar to my relatives. My ggrandfather was Thomas Barks from Nottinghamshire( Nottingham) Eng. but he was married to Mary Ann Morrell and he was born between 1850-1860 he came here around 1895 with his brother whose name was Walter but that could be wrong and it might have been William. They lived in the Pocasset ave Kilingly st area in Prov. I have seen your family line on Ancestry and wondered if our families are connected. I have more info. If you wish to contact me reply to SAWBONES808@AOL.COM don't pay any attention to what Ancestry has as my e-mail address or name because they are idiots and keep changing my info.you can also visit my web page and view the few pics I have of my family the address is http:/hometown.aol.com/sawbones808/myhomepage/heritage.html

In my information I have Hunteel or (Handel) ... my husband's line .... to be a brother of Jaclob. There seem to be 2 Jacob lines. I am diligently searching for blood lineage in the Barks. Nancy J. Barks married Adam Seabaugh ... She was my mother-in-law's grandmother; wo had very outstanding Indian features as well as a cousin of my husband's. Use to be quite a topic of conversation . Mother of Nancy J. Barks was Elizabeth Clubb. Think the tribe will be Cherokee.

I am one of four sons of Orville L. Barks, M.D. and Georgia Bickerstaff Jessup Barks. My father was one of the two sons of William and Blanche Lupkey Barks of Herculaneum, Missouri.

I can remember my grandmother Lupkey making fresh donuts at our beach house in Daytona Beach, Florida back in the 1950's. That must be who you say is Jane Anne. I can't remember her first name.

My office phone is 407-321-1224 (Sanford, Florida). My father died in 1994 and my mother just died in June 2005.

I am also looking for Donald Barks and his sister, Cynthia Barks, the two children of Donald Barks, the other son of William and Blanche Barks. They lived in New Orleans years ago. Donald died years ago and his wife, Helen, remarried, but I understand she passed away a few years ago, also.

Would like to hear from you if you receive this email.

Jim Barks
