David Barnes came with 2 of his brothers from Liverpool around 1758. One brother settled in New York and the other in PA. David settled in Baltimore Co., MD, purchased a small plantation and then married a yr. later. His son James founded Barnesville, MD and then moved to St. Clairsville, OH in 1803. James laid out the town of Barnesville, OH in 1808 and moved there with his family in 1812. I'm told the above is from a book, History of Belmont and Jefferson Co's., Ohio by J.A. Caldwell 1880.
Other info says that David had sons William, Adam, Abel, James and David. Does anyone know more about this group?
