Barnetts from VA to Southern states?

I have ready many posts regarding Barnetts in the southern states. My ancestor, Alexander Barnett was born in VA., fought in the Rev. War in S.C., then migrated to Kentucky. His descendants went to Ill., where my grandfather was born.
He had a large number of siblings, so, my question is: does anyone from these families in the South know of having VA. roots, particularly William Barnett?

thank you,

Sue Barnett Gaumer

Barnett in Yell, Arkansas with Batchelor and Bailey

Looking for info on William Ausbery Barnett while he was living in Yell, Arkansas

My grandmother was Flora Gordon Barnett, her mother was Francis (Fannie) Bailey. I believe William Asbury Barnett is Flora's father. I cannot find my copy from online right now of the marriages for William Barnett, but right above his marriage to Dora Batchelor in 1892 is a listing for him (or the same info) for a marriage to Flora's mother in 1891 Flora was born November 1, 1891 in Yell, Arkansas) I believe she must have gotten pregnant and they married for that purpose - he marries Dora the next year. I find Flora living with her mother and stepfather (Hiram Hilburn) in 1900 as there is no 1890 census data. I believe a brother of William Barnett is living right next door to them in them - James Barnett (although I am not positive). I have searched for years for Flora's father and a couple of years ago my husband took me to Gravelly, Arkansas where I talked to a neighbor of my family from there - she told me that William Barnett - nicknamed Berry - was Flora's father. I realize you must not know of her and don't expect you to just assume this to be true, but would love to find a way to connect these dots. Have you ever heard of William Asbury Barnett possibly having a daughter before his marriage to Dora? Would love any Barnett family info to try and follow this lead if possible.
Darlene
Barnetts of Kent Co Delaware

I am trying to find out if these Barnetts are connected to the Barnetts in Mecklenburg Co NC.
John Barnett, farmer. Will made 5/11/1748. Heirs: bros Moses, Samuel, Hugh, Andrew; Richard McKinstrey & wife Gean. Exec. Andrew Barnett. Probated 5/17/1748.
Samuel Barnett, yeoman. Admin. to Elizabeth Barnett, widow. 6/21/1756. (Elizabeth Barnett married Patrick Williams in 1761)
Moses Barnett. Admin. to Andrew Barnett & Hugh Sutor. 10/1/1764. Children mentioned: Sarah, Elizabeth, & Moses.
Hugh Barnett (1705) has been identified as a son of Thomas Barnett of Cumberland Co PA. Could this Hugh and Hugh, brother of John above, be the same person? Or is this a different branch of the same family? If this is so, as the family began to move south, some went into Delaware while others went into Virginia and from there into North Carolina.
Thank you!

Barnett

Looking for information on Robert Barnett, born in Ireland in 1700, married Mary Montgomery in Ireland in 1720. I have children of Robert and Mary, - Humphrey, Samuel (my direct descendant) Joseph, William, Thomas, Hugh, all born between 1721 and 1730 and all born in Ireland. They moved to Penn. about 1729 and Mary died about then in Lancaster, PA. Robert married Rachael Montgomery 1729 in Albermarle, VA. She was born 1712 in Albermarle, Va. and died 1745 in Amherst, VA, USA, Robert & Rachael had children - Joseph, b 04 Oct 1731, Robert, b. 1732, William b. 1735, Sarah, b. 1737, Susannah, b 1737, Bryam, b 1740, Bryom. b. 1740. Then Rachael died in 1745. Robert then married another Mary (I believe she was Rachael's sister as parents are the same and also different from first Mary's) Their children were: Alexander, b: 1745 (or 1754) in Va., James Barnett, b. 1746, Jenny Barnett, b. 1748, Mary, b. 1750, Rachael, b. 1756, Elizabeth b. 1758, Ann, b 1760, John Barnett, b. Unk and Rebecca, b: 1752. All were born in Culpepper, VA, USA.

If anyone has any more definite info. on Rachael's exact death date, it might be that Alexander COULD be her son as I have found in some places. But she could not have had those later children.

Does anyone have any more information on Rachael's exact date of death?

The Samuel Barnett, born in 1724 in Londonderry to Robert and the lst wife Mary is a direct descendant of mine.

The main confusion seems to be that many family trees show Rachael having all these last children which would not be possible since she died in 1745. I have not been able to find anything but 1745 for her death date. No month or day.

Looking for my father (Robert Barnett - Portland, OR)

I was born in Portland Oregon in May 1981. My mother was 17 and my father supposedly 19. My mother's side of the family moved to California not even two months after I was born.

I know his father was a Dentist in Lake Oswego. This is unfortunately all I know.

Growing up, never knowing him, or even seeing a picture of him has been rough. If anyone at all can help me connect with this side of my family I would be eternally grateful.

I've pretty much accepted that I will never know anything about him, or that family. But still, it crosses my mind regularly.

Thank you.
Historical and Genealogical

19. Barnett - Dear Regent: We wish to know the record of the sons of Nathan Barnett and his wife Lucy (Webb). His father was Frank Barnett of Virginia. Children:
John Barnett b. 1762; d. 1814
Miles Barnett b. 1764
Leonard Barnett b. 1766
William Barnett b. 1767
Claborne Barnett b. 1769
Nathan Barnett b. 1771
First John Barnett m. Carolina Tindall, 1872; d. 1842
Children:
Nathan Barnett b. 1783
William Booker Barnett b. 1788
Lucy Green Barnett b. 1791, December
John F. Barnett b. 1793, February
Mary Byrd Barnett b. 1795, January
Sarah C. Barnett b. 1797, May
Franklin Barnett b. not known

Note - John Barnett settled in Clark Co., GA., near "Barnett Shoals". William Booker Barnett settled in Alabama. Lucy Green Barnett w. a Brown

We desire the genealogies of the six sons of Nathan Barnett, especially John I. Barnett. There is some confusion as to the Barnett families in Georgia and Alabama. For instance, in one county of Alabama there are three Barnett families, nor can they identify any family relationship. Thanking you in advance for attention to this matter. I am truly at your service and the service of working the same line. L.E.M.

I thought this might help someone

Mark Barnett
BarnettFamilyTree.com

I have an original studio photograph of “Edna Harbaugh Barnett”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Hagerstown (Washington Co.) MD, and she looks to be about age 25.

I found Edna Harbaugh in the 1920 Hagerstown census, showing she was daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth, and she was 10 years old. SSDI shows an Edna Barnett who died in Hagerstown, MD in Sep 1980, so this may or may not be the same lady.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Edna Harbaugh Barnett.

I am still at a road block on Bertha Barnett. In different cencuses she claimed to either be born in England or in Ohio.
I'm searching my Barnett and Walters ancestors and have discovered that my Grandmother, Laura Walters, had a son, Denzil, in 1929. She died shortly after (possibly in childbirth?) and Denzil was unknown to me until recently.

The only further information I have managed to obtain (I think) is that he married in Llanelli in 1951 to a Morgan.

I'd love to contact him and any help would be appreciated.

Celia Rogers (née Barnett)
Jewell or Daisy Barnett

I am looking for any information on my grandmother. I do not have a lot to go on. She was very young when she passed away, maybe in the late 1930's. She would have been early 20's. She was married to Lawrence Hewkin and had two daughters, Wilma and Francis. My mother, Wilma, was never told anything about her mother. I know that we have family in Davisville MO, and I believe Jewell was born in Pitcher OK, but not sure. On her birth certificate her name is listed as Jewell, but on another piece of information I have it says her name was Daisy. My Mom was a twin, and her twin died when she was just a few months old. I know this is not a lot to go on, but if anyone out there knows anything I would love hearing from you. lkb1755@yahoo.com. I have lots of information on Lawrence Hewkin, my grandfather.

Hello,
My name is Jerry Hillegas and I am a seventh or eighth generation descendant of JOSIAH JORDAN 1760-1840, depending on which branch of the family tree you climb down from. I have recently retired from the US Navy and have taken up the task of accumulating and updating my mother's family tree data. Some of you may be familiar with the book "JOSIAH JORDAN and his Descendants 1760 to 1979". I am in the process of retyping it into a computer word document so that it can be readily updated and printed for whoever wishes the information.
I am reformatting the information so it is easier to read, moving the pictures and documents to the individual entries, and have even added a few new branches for individuals that hadn't been listed in the earlier version.
My plea is if you or a realitive are in this book please contact me so I may update your family's section as I wish to have a new version (1760 to 2010) 250 years of Descendants available for printout or file on CDROM computer disk for anyone who wants it. If you are not familiar with this book and you are related to a Josiah Jordan descendant or think you might be, please contact me and we will find out.
My contact information is: Jerry Hillegas, PO Box 292, Everly, IA 51338; email - jsub7@evertek.net

THANK YOU FOR ANY INFORMATION YOU MAY PASS ON TO ME!

Does anyone have primary information on Frank and Susannah Johnson Barnett? I’ve found numerous references to them, but nothing concrete. I am looking for any proof of their existence, and subsequent descendants.

The William Barnett I have been exhaustively searching for supposedly was a son of theirs, as was Nathaniel Barnett who married Susannah Crawford, and possibly Nathan Barnett, who married Lucy Webb. NOTE: For those studying Nathaniel and Nathan, they were approximately the same age, so they could not have been father and son, as is widely reported on the internet.

I still haven’t give up on finding the wife of William Barnett, Hannah. Wasn’t Fenton. Wasn’t Booker.

William Barnett, Sr. Born around 1730, VA, died 1788, Columbia CO, GA.

And does anyone have a Paulet (or Pawlett) connection in their lines?

Appreciated in advance,

Kim Stephens
James Barnett; Robert Barnett, William Polk Barnett Bates/Vernon Co, MO

James H. Barnett was born in TN and died Mar 29, 1844 in Barton Co, MO in a snow storm while returning to his home in (now) Vernon Co, MO. His children, the best I can tell, were Robert, Angerana, Casander, McKinley (Mac), Francis Marion, and Howard. Robert Barnett married Eliza Hudson about 1842. She was the daughter of William P. and Sarah Elizabeth Bingham. Robert and Eliza were both killed in a buggy accident about 1851 in Bates/Vernon Co, MO, leaving three children: Sarah Barnett b. abt. 1843, James Barnett b. Abt 1846, and William Polk Barnett b. 1847. William Polk Barnett married Maria Theresa Caroline Caton on June 14, 1870 in Vernon Co, and they then moved to Pottawattamie Co, IA. Please let me know if you can help piece this family together. There is a biography page at www.rootsweb.com/~motcogs/ on this Barnett family.
