Hi Katy,

I must have missed this posting. If you are still interested

I have lots on the Barnhouses. I have them back to Richard

in 1730 in Virgina. I have inherited my Aunt's colection

of Barnhouse genealogy and photos. There are tons of birth

and death records, mostly from the 20th century.

I look forward to hearing from you, hope I didn't miss you.

tony

Irvin Barnhouse son of Jacob Barnhouse drown in the Eagle Chief River, Major County, Oklahoma

Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 25 June 1903, Wapanucak, Johnston County, Indian Territory now Oklahoma

VENTURED IN TOO DEEP WATER

Cleo: While swimming in the Eagle Chief with some other boys, just north of town Irvin Barnhouse, aged 16 the only son of Jacob Barnhouse was drowned. Mr. Barnhouse is one of the most prominent farmers in this community, and the news of the death of the boy was a great shock to everyone. It seems that the Barnhouse boy was just learning to swim and he ventured out too far.

I am a Goff who's local roots trace back to the central and western New York region and I came across a letter from a "David Goff" that was in my family bible that was written to my Grandfather in the late 50's... the writer (David) explained that he had traced almost all Goff's (not those who spelled it 'Gough') to a "Sir William Goff of England in 1653". I've got approximately 6-7 generations back, and now, supposedly one from 1650's... I just don't have the middle few.

Sadly, the OneWorldTree has only identified one of my relatives correctly.

Any thoughts / insight would be appreciated

She married William M. Birgel. She died in 1955.

Obtained most info from Nora's obituary and some from censuses.
In Va. Colonial Abstracts, Vol. III, pg. 68 I found

a sheriff by the name of Captain Richard Barnhouse or
Ornduff c. January 1646/47.

pg. 205 (right in there with one of my bunches)
...."The estate of Robt Jackson to be appraised by Peeter Ware (Castle Witton de Ware/Durham, England/Eure Castle), James Besouth, Phillip Walker (a friend of the families getting them out of the hellish conditions in England/France at the time) and Wm Coxe. Oaths to be admr by Mr. Rob. Vaus. Also Capt. Richar Barnhowse is desired by this Court to appoint some honest men to appraise what estate the said Jackson has in Martins Hundred."

His name appears elsewhere as BARNHOUSE. When the entire bunch of Catholics(pretending to be Protestant) who were Orns, persecuted by the Arns (Protestant) in the Rhineland, BADDEN WIRTEMBERG, BAMBERG, many Orndorffs became Arndts to come to Philadelphia and a lot went up to Baltimore to remain Catholic, up to Albany, NY. The Barnes are a big family in Connecticutt.
They really did build BIG BARNS!!

Can anyone please help? I am looking for the burial location for my great grandfather, Rev. Hamilton Douglas BARNHOUSE. He lived in Junior WV when my family visited in 1954 and then he died in October 1957. He was married to Harriet E. (LEMASTERS) BARNHOUSE so he might be burried with her. He spent his life as a minister with the Evangelical United Brethern Church. Since he lived most of his life in Barbour County WV, I am assuming that is where he died and is burried.

I posted this information to the www.ancestry.com free site so you can check there. I would love to know Ernest and Mary's date of death and their children's info.

Thanks for replying.

Other than John's children, whom I have listed, does anyone know anything else about John?
Also, can anyone clarify the names and number of children Henry had with his first wife, Anna Maria Baker?
Looking for info on Matilda Barnhouse who married John Border(s) on 23 June 1867 in Paulding Co., Ohio. The 1880 federal census shows them living in Paulding Co., Ohio with 5 children: Louisa, Daniel, Christenia, Francis, and William B. There may have been two children born after 1880: Rose and Foreman. Matilda was born 1844/45 probably in Ohio. Any information on her would be greatly appreciated.

Cramblett and Alice Carpenter Barnhouse - West Virginia

I'm searching for information about Cramblett Barnhouse's first wife, Alice Carpenter. Alice was born March 7, 1868 in Ohio she married Cramblett Barnhouse before 1894, had one son (Harry)and died shortly after that son was born on January 18, 1895. She was my gg grandmother, but because Cramblett remarried and had several other children all of our family records are about the second wife (Emma Lou Sams). They would have been living around New Cumberland, West Virginia. I believe that she may be the daughter of Martin Carpenter and Hannah Clark Carpenter of Noble County, Ohio, but this is just a guess based on birthdates and census informtation. If you know anything please contact me at ryankasler@rdslink.ro. Thanks!

I noticed your message board entry in respect to the
Barnhouse's of Ohio dated 17 Jan 2003, and I am just
wondering if we are not dealing with the BORNHAUS
family who settled in Loudoun County, Virginia after the
American Revolution.
If this should be the case, then this first BORNHAUS was
probably Christopher Bornhaus/Barnhouse, a Hessian
soldier of the Hesse-Kassel Regt. Erbprinz, who was
captured in Oct. 1781 at Yorktown and brought to Frederick, MD., where he then remained. If you check the mail list
archives of the AMREV-HESSIANS-L@rootsweb.com
or the LOUDOUN Message Board at Rootsweb, you
should be able to find much more information.
Hope this is helpful to you in getting contact with many
other Bornhaus of Datterode descendants.
Cheers, John Merz, researching Hessian soldiers of the
American Revolution http://home.cogeco.ca/~hessian
