I have an Ernestine Barnick (b. 27 Oct 1827 in Germany, d. 3 Sep 1910 in Town of Milford, Jefferson Co., Wisconsin). She married August F. Schmidt (b. 1 May 1825 in Gottpin, Preusen, Brandenberg, d. 1 Dec 1890 in Town of Milford, Jefferson Co., WI), date place of marriage unknown.
One of their daughters, Auguste Schmidt, married Theodore Gerbig on 8 Jan 1883 in Milford, WI. They are my great grandparents. Later, they moved to Waupaca or Shawano County, WI near Marion. This is where my grandfather and father were born.
Last weekend I was in Marion noticed several prominent buildings with "Barnick" written on them. One was Barnick Builders, the other was on a barn had Barnick Sons in large print. I have not had an opportunity to discuss the Barnick ancestry with any of the Barnicks in Marion, WI, but hope to very soon.
Please let me know if you think there are connections with the Barnicks in any of these locations. Thanks. I have very limited information--just what I have indicated here. Marie
