I was reading the message boards and thought perhaps I might have info on the same Michael Barnicle. I found a newspaper clipping in the family bible noting his death on Jan 24 (the year wasn't on the clipping unfortunately) at his home, No 1558 Fifty-fifth Street, Brooklyn, aged 89. Long known as the "dean of lower Wall Street" he went to the US in 1850 and entered the tea and coffee business. For 30 years he had a wholesale house at Grant and Wall Streets and was at his office regularly until retiring at 88. Michael is the brother or uncle of my great grandfather, Joseph Bartholomew Barnicle on whom I can find nothing!
