Thomas Franklin Barnthouse is my ancestor only he was born in 1846 and served briefly in the Civil War. He and his brother George did live in Appanoose IA and George is buried there. Thomas married Rachael Hurst Hibbs in 1865 and had two living children Charles Edward and Lille May. T.F. Barnthousse was born in either Indiana or Ohio, his mothers maiden name was either Catherine Dougherty or Daugherty and she is believed to have come from Ireland. His father may also be Thomas Barnthouse and possible came from Canada or Ireland. Catherine Dougherty mus have died after George was born as T.F. was in an orphange for a while until his sister Katherine became his caretaker. Thomas Franklins siblings were Delilah (Kindersparger) Katherine (Kershner) Oliver, Wylie and George.

My Edith Wheeler married Vernon H. Barnthouse 20 Sept 1899 in Creston, Union Co., IA. Vernon was born Mar 1876 in Ohio according to 1900 Census. His parents were Sylvester Barnthouse and Samantha Holmes according to the marriage record. Sylvester's second wife was Jennie. Sylvester and Vernon were implement dealers in Creston in 1900. Vernon and Edith had one child, Helen b. abt 1901. Vernon is buried in Sioux Falls, SD and Edith is buried in Afton, IA. I'd like to find descendants of Helen if any.

I am just starting my family search. From Ancestry.Com it looks like my liniage is as follows. Me (Dwight Robert Barnthouse b. 1964) -- William Franklin Barnthouse b. 1942 -- Dwight Franklin Barnthouse b. 1924 -- Laurel Barnthouse b. 1900 -- Thomas Franklin Barnthouse b. 1876 -- George Barnthouse. According to the 1880 census George was a barber in Centerville Iowa and his father was from Ireland?

Seeking info on LYDIA JANE BARNTHOUSE. She was b. abt 1840, and m. 1868 to JOHN EDWARD KNOX. They were divorced in 1884. Divorce papers say she went to live in Summit Mills, PA. Thought I'd ask if you have her in your database . . . been searching for info on her for quite a while. Thanks :-)

Married Margaret McCOY (dghter of Patrick MCCOY and Eva SHOUP from Ireland)abt. 1828. Searching also for marriage record of Patrick McCOY and Eva SHOUP(dghtr. of Jacob and Mary SHOUP), as well as any other info., about the Scotch-Irish McCOY family and SHOUP family. It appears that Patrick and wife might have immigrated with other members of the McCOY and SHOUP family.
