My father's name was Adam Baron b. 2/10/13 d.
5/1984. My father settled in East St. Louis, Illinois.
(A railroad town in the early 1900s) His father's name was Michael Baron.
Supposedly, his parents came over from Austria/
Poland via Ellis or Angel Island. He had the
following siblings:
Edward, Teddy, George, Catherine, Antoine.
(One of the brothers had a nickname of 'Blackie')
I know his father died and his mother remarried.
Then, both parents died about 1930. I am at
a dead-end. I only know that one brother was
in the Navy during WW2. Also, they might have
originally settled in Boston, MA area. (Also,
one of the brothers may have settled in the South
after WW2.) Thank you for any help.
Kathleen Baron Pritchett.

Anyone researching the name "Baron" please also look at all spellings. In prussian records "Barony" with umlats over the "y" can denote male. "Baronin" can denote female. I knew where my BARON surname ended but going backwards I find the name spelled with the "y" or "in". I finally found information corroborating the above explanation. Thus finding the parents and siblings of my husband's gr-gr-grandfater.
William BARON Born Gibraltar c 1827 to 1829

I am trying to trace the birth of William BARON, born sometime from 1827 to 1829 in Gibraltar to James Baron and Margaret MURRAY ( married c. 1822). I would be most grateful if anyone can help.
I am quite sure that they were not in Gibraltar as part of the Forces, and were in England, Blackburn, Lancashire for the birth of John Baron in 1823 and Thomas Ashton Baron in 1830.

Baron/England>NJ>WI>NJ>CA

I am researching the William Baron family of Manchester, England. As near as I can find, they immigrated to NJ about 1843-1845. He settled in Patterson, Passiac County, with his wife, Mary Jane Unknown and son, Amos (b. 1841, Eng.). Seven children were born to them in NJ between the years 1845-1859, Jane, Anna, William, Nancy, Mary A.,Catherine and Ellen M. Another child, Helena, was born about 1863 in WI.

They made their way to Columbia County, WI during the Civil War. Amos had joined the Union Army in NJ. When the war was over, he too, went to WI. He soon married Annette Jones and settled in Sauk County, were they had nine children between 1870-1890, Ellihue, Ellen, Minnie, Amos William, Ezra, Viola, Olive, Grace and Archie.

Amos William married Etta Jane Bates in 1899. They had five children Elliott B., Frank Jacob, Walter Bennie, Clara Elizabeth and Arlene Etta. Amos William died in 1928. Etta married unknown. The marriage did not last long. Etta would follow her son, Frank, and daughter, Arlene, to CA in the 1940s.

Frank Jacob married Bertha Raemisch in 1923. They lived in Madison, Dane County, WI. They had three sons, Arnold Henry, James Amos and William. In the 1940s they all moved to CA.

If you have any information on these families or their extended families, I would love to hear from you.

Susan Barron Petersen
Lkn4kin@comcast.net

Baron Family - Nanticoke, Luzerne Co., Pa.

I am researching the Wargo family. My great-grandmother, Anna (Hillan) Wargo re-married to a person by the last name of Baron, first name unk. This marriage had to take place after the 1930 census since she is still listed as a Wargo (widow) and no mention of any other male other than her son. She is buried with her first husband, Michael at St. Joseph's Slovak Church in Nanticoke. I can only assume she died somewhere other than Nanticoke and was buried with her first husband. Very sketching info received mentioned she may have died in Washington, D.C.

If any one has any information or can offer some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Claude Sprinkel
Rocklin, CA

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Billy BARON taken at the Wissler Studio in Canton, Ohio. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with Billy likely only about 1 year old at the time. I was hoping to locate someone from this family so that this precious photograph could be returned to the care of family, however, I was not successful so I have passed the photograph along to the Stark County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society in hopes that they will have better luck locating a family member.

If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact them.

Thanks,
Shelley

William BARONS in Ashburton, Devon circa 1825

Hello,
I'm hoping to connect with the BARONS family who married into my LLOYD family.
William BARONS married Susanna LLOYD on March 17, 1825 in Ashburton, Devon. Susanna was born August 31, 1792 in Ashburton to James & Mary LLOYD. William and Susanna had at least two children: William b. 1829 and Mary Elizabeth b. 1833 both in Ashburton.
William was a publican who operated the Golden Lion in Ashburton. Apparently he was quite a "polititian" as he got into some trouble after a man who opposed his political party was beaten quite badly.
Does anyone have connections to this BARONS family??

Looking for my wife's birth mother Lottie Baron or any other family members. My wife was born on July 17th 1953 in Illinois and was named Agnes. She does not want to bother anyone if they do not want to be found, but any ties to family would be warmly welcomed. Her adoptive family died many years ago and she is longing for that family bond. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Found: Handwritten Records 1871

Through my own family research of the Barrentine name, I have come across something that is confusing to say the least. My grandmother has in her possession, about 8 very tattered and torn pages from what appears to be a handwritten log. They are still attached to the spine of what was once a book. She says that she obtained these pages from a trunk once belonging to her grandfather, Joseph Edgar Barrentine. The dates on these pages are handwritten, beginning January, 1871. From what I've been able to piece together and what is legible, I have extracted the following information:

2 or 3 pages of a labor log detailing work done to build houses, work done in fields, to include time needed for work (1/2 day, 1 day, etc.) and what appears to be wages for that work.

A handwritten birth log, as follows:
Amos Washington was borned on the 21st day of April, 1838
Sarah Jane was borned on the 28th day of December, 1838
Alexander Lafayette was borned on the ? day of December, 1860
Timothy Hinton Barron was borned on the 11th day of May, 1862
Ellen Jane Barron was borned on the 6th day of April, 1865
Mary Lillio(a)n was borned on the 30th day of September, 1871

Sarah Jane died on the 19th day of May, 1873(83)-this number has been written over so it is hard to tell what is the original.

On another page there are the same names written along with the following names:
Ann May Barron
Letey Ann Nuns
Tiney and Thomas "Jab" Nuns
Bell Nuns
(These are handwritten as I have said and the last name "Nuns" may be a mistake in my reading of the notes.)
I have been able to locate one record to verify any of this information. I found it on an LDS search. It shows an Amos W. Barron married to a Sarah Jane Munn but there is no source identified. The birth years seem to match as well as the marriage date.

If anyone has any information that may help me identify these pages, please contact me at hspainter@hotmail.com or hollygordon@sbcglobal.net

George Baron - born September 1769

I have a family photo/engraving of George Baron - I have traced his place of birth to Northumberland,England. I also have a piece of paper which connects him to a castle/farm called Willimotswick, Bardon Mill, Northumberland England.

Apparently, he went to America and became a teacher of navigation. The engraving I have was published in 1806 New York - drawn by Howell and Engraved by Anderson.

I am stuck....any one any idea's. I cannot find any info about him after his birth. Very elderly aunt had been told he had fled England following the Jacobean Rebellion.

Mathurin Baron & Marguerite Blondeau & Francis LeBaron

According to FamilySearch, Mathurin Baron (b. 1635 in Paris) married Marguerite Blondeau (b. 1638 @ St. Louis en L'Isle) in 1659 and they had a son named Francis in 1668 (also @ St. Louis en L'Isle).

I have two questions. The first is if anyone has any information on their family history

The second has to do with the claim that Francis Baron is the same man as Francis LeBaron (b. 1668 in France) who was the founder of the LeBaron and LeBarron families in the U.S. This is of great interest to many people, as the origin of Dr. Francis LeBaron is an item of interest, family legend and speculation for a large number of people.

Am researching African American Holtzclaw descendants whose ancestors ever lived in Coosa and Elmore County. 1866 Coosa County Census list several Holtzclaws (Ben, Elviry, et al). Any info or lead would be greatly appreciated. Could anyone do a Census lookup in either of these counties after 1866? Specifically, I am looking for Tom or Ella Holtzclaw. Who were their parents? Some of their children were: Freeman, Charley, Bea, Callie, Carrie, Nora, Jack and Dorsey. Anxiously awaiting a response. May respond directly to MRuthHunt@aol.com. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
