Bel was born on December 30, 1924 to Benigno and Caroline Varoz in El Rito, New Mexico. Bel joined the U.S Marine Corps in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was very proud to have served his country in World War II. He earned his associates degree in barbering in 1948, owned and operated his business Bel's Barber Shop for 33 years. Bel married Tilly Soria and together they had a son, Daniel. They later divorced. In 1956 Bel married Mary D. Lopez, the love of his life! Together they had eight children. Family was the most important thing in Bel's life. He also enjoyed family camping trips, gardening, traveling and dancing the night away with his loving wife. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He thought they were the cutest, smartest and most amazing.
