Most of my family line that started in Virginia: John and Robert Barr, et. al. John's son William settled in Gates County, NC in 1783. This is the same time congress awarded General Gates soldies land. William died in 1823, his wife and sons moved to Jasper County, Georgia; however, only Britton stayed in Jasper. His children, William's, Isaac's James' and John Wright Barr's moved to Pike County, Alabama at different times from 1830-1860. By the time of the Civil War the Barr's were established there. Britton's son James W. Barr distinguished himself in the CSA, fighting an most of the main battles of the Civil War. I would like to interact with any extended family that trace their linage through Pike County: Buckhorn and Montecello, Alabama. My forefather was Isaac Barr. HIs son Umphrey moved to Choctaw County, Alabama and then to Raliegh, Magee and Mize Mississippi
