My mother was born in Las Nieves, Durango. Her mother was named Benigna Acosta and here father was named Ladislao Barraza. As a child her father past away and so did her mother and she was left with her god parents. My mother is now 68 years old. We would like to have more information about what was left of her side of the family, she had brothers and possibly sisters so if you have info. please let me know.

Hi, I'm looking for my relatives living in Durango, my tata Mauro Barraza who married Eulalia Sanchez, their children names are: Agustin, Serapia, Demetrio, Chano, Cecilia, Lucila, Cristobal and Maria. Also my uncles Arturo, Leonor and Jose. all of them live in San Luis RC, Sonora except for Serapia (Palmitas, Sin,) Leonor and Jose (Empalme Guaymas Son). My dad Chano is from Soyupa Dgo., also married Elsa Villapudua, who is from San Juan de Camarones Durango. All of my relatives married people from Durango :Robledo, Gutierrez, Leon, and heard they also have relatives in Soyupa, and El Cantil. DoD Identifies Army Casualties
The Department of Defense announced today the death of two
soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died in Ar Ramadi,
Iraq, on March 18, when they came under small arms fire by enemy forces during
combat operations. Both solidiers were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th
Ranger Regiment, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Killed were:

Staff Sgt. Ricardo Barraza, 24, of Shafter, Calif.

I wonder if anyone has come across the following Barraza's from Durango they are my husband's mother's family.

Her name is Clara Barraza born in Chandler AZ abt 1936, now living in Los Angeles.

Her parents: Antonio Barraza born in Cinco de Julio Rancho in Durango MX 10/3/1914 and Carmen Aguilar born in Bisbee AZ in 4/28/1916.

Antonio's parents were Daniel Barraza born in Durango MX on 3/17/1888 and Rufugia Martinez born 7/4/1895.

Daniel's parents were Adrian Barraza born in Durango MX and Macedonia Talamontez.

Clara has a uncle Leo Barraza in Whittier CA.

Please let me know if you have anything on any of them.

I am trying to locate my father. I have very little information about him. Approx. DOB is 7/12/1931, Approx. Birthplace is Texas. Last known whereabouts was in 1968 in Bell Gardens, CA. Last known address was on Gage Ave in Bell Gardens, CA. Last known employer was @ Kelly-Moore Paint Manufacturing, possibly in Maywood, CA. He has 5 other children who possibly lived in Lynwood or Southgate,CA in 1968. His mother supposedly lived in Long Beach, CA. He is 6'2", 200-210lbs. sharp dresser. He also belonged to AA and had been on parole. All info as of 1968.

Professor Susan Deeds (Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff) has recently published a book on the Indians of Nueva Vizcaya entitled “Defiance and Deference in Mexico’s Colonial North: Indians Under Spanish Rule in Nueva Vizcaya.” It’s a fascinating book and everyone with ancestors in Durango or Chihuahua should read it.

In her book, Prof. Deeds makes several references to Captain Juan de Barraza who was instrumental in quashing several Indian uprisings in the 1630’s and 1640’s. Captain Barraza was based first at the Presidio of Tepehuanes and later at the Presidio of Mapimi.

Has anyone succeeded in identifying the descendants of Captain Barraza?

we do know that my Grandfather was from Durango
and migrated to CA around 1938(?). They lived in

I am looking for any information about my grandparents that live in El Rancho Las Palmas, Durango. I have been trying to get in contact with them but can't seem to, unfortunetly it is a very small town and there is only 1 public phone to call in order to be able to talk to them but, every time I call I am told that they are out of town or something. I don't really know if they still live there or have moved elsewhere. I am worried about them and would really appreciate any information regarding them.
