Hi thanks for answering back to me. If I'm not mistaken, JH Barrentine is my grandmothers dad. I'm very interested in the others with the initials. If you would be so kind to help me. In the 1920 census JH Barrentine is listed as living with my grandmom & granddad, also Jh is listed with 'Pigeon' Barrenine as sister in law. Then in the 1880 census Jh is listed with JC Barrenine as father & Sarah as mother. This is the maiden name I'm looking for. ALso the childrens names. They are all just initials. Again my grandmom's name was Annie Maybelle 'Maybell' barrentine. Thanks Annie

I'm sorry I can't help you connect the Barrentine & Lamb families. I research the Barrentine line and have not run across any Lamb's that married into it. On the 1920 census the J.H. Barentine age 64 is not my line, but the 1880 census you found with J.H. Barrentine & Sarah (Albritton) with the kids and the initials are my line. Should you be interested in their complete names I will be happy to give them to you. If I run across any information that would help you I will send another post.
Diane Barrentine Souders

My daddy was Albert Leo Lamb. His mom was Annie M. Barrentine Lamb. Married to Ed 'E D Lamb' my dads faher. I found this on the 1920's census. It had Ed Lamb, Annie Lamb, then listed in order of birth Erma, Ada, Oscar, Arthur Lamb. Then it had J.H. Barrentine, but the last name was spelt Barentine & his sister in law Pigeon who was 13 years of age at that time. Below that was Sarah Barrentine, listed as 33 years of age then J.H Barentine 14 yeras of age. I'm trying to find Sarah's maiden name. I found in the 1880 census J.H. Barrentine his fathers name was J.C. Mother's name listed as Sarah. Then in birth order J.H., P.L., S.E., B.E., W.J., J.W., W.O Barrentine. I'm trying to figure out my grandmothers mothers name & the names listed with initials. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Holly,

My mother in law is Etta Joyce Barrentine (Nelson). Her son is Paul J. Nelson. Her dad's name was Rainey Lee Barrentine and she has one remaining brother as well as
herself alive. R.L. Barrentine. She does not know what
happened to her brother James Henry and her father's brothers name was Edgar Barrentine. Her grandmother on her
father's side was Martha Redd. Her father married Wrissie Ward. They lived in Arkansas and eventually made it to
California. She and her son currently live in Las Vegas.
Does this sound familiar to you? She is curious about
family connections. Joyce tells me that Edgar lived in Oklahoma and worked for Indian Affairs or something like that.

Their mother was Mary Ward Barrentine?
married to William J. Barrentine? Was Mary Ward Barrentine's parents Andrew J. Ward and Catherine E. Ward?
When did Mary Ward Barrentine die? Where is she burried? Do you know her middle name? So my grandmother Mary Barrentine Ward was named after her mother? The Wards were her grandparents?

I am trying to verify information I have on Crawford Barrentine.I see several people have listed Archean Barrentine as Crawford's daughter she is listed as being born in 1839. I have in my possesion a copy of Crawford's license & marriage statement to Lucinda Davis, I also have a copy of Crawford's probate dated March 23, 1837. I ordered these & they came direct from Fayette County, GA Probate Court. It is signed by Arthur J. Whithead (Administrator) & James A. Newton. With this information, I don't believe Archean can be his daughter as the dates are too far apart. I believe Lucinda went back to her last name of Davis at some point, since they were only married 6 months. Does anyone have anything that can link her to Crawford?
I am presently helping a friend, Archie Barrentine, originally from Alabama research some of his family. His father was Archie C. Barrentine, b. November 20, 1917, married April 12, 1941, d. September, 1977. His grandfather was James Barrentine, grandmother Margrett (or various other spellings). The father of James was born in Georgia.

There was an Archie C.Barrentine, b. 1900 who enlisted on June 25, 1940 from Walker, Alabama, and an Archie Barrentine, b abt. 1867 in South Carolina, a farmer living in Brightsville, Marlboro, S. C.; parents S. Robert and Kitty.

We are working to find the relationships of all these people and would appreciate it if you have more info. I will get in touch with you as we get our records together.
Hey there! Lucky for you, on my search for Thomas Barrentine, I have found quite a few things on Silas Barrentine. If I am remembering correctly, he is the son of Silas Barrentine from Edgefield County, SC. Thats about all I can remember but check out GenForum, thats where I found most of the info on Silas, instead of Thomas. Thomas just seems to be a mystery man who appeared out of nowhere!

On my Doves, they are Scottish, not Native American, so there is no connection. Hugh Dove, which was probably originally Duff, didnt come to America till about 1790 and did not have a daughter named Morning.

I hope this has helped you some! Please let me know if you find anything on Thomas!

I'm not sure if we are looking for the same Barrentines, but I hope this might help.Silas Barrentine(1793-?) married Elizabeth? and their children were Ellen, Mary, James, Wilson M., Wilson B., and Sarah. James(1837-1876) married Mary A. Sanders and their children were George Thomas, Charlie B., and John B. George Thomas(1862-1943) married Ella M. Sheffield and their children were Ancie, Newton, Walter, Minnie, Pearlie, Arthur, Homer, Clara, and Ena.

I am Ancie Barrentine Sapp's granddaughter. I have really had trouble tracing the Barrentine family and would appreciate any help you could give me. I will be glad to share any information I have. I do know that Silas was born in S.C. and James and George T. were born in Twiggs/Jeffersonville/Bibb, Georgia.

Also, Ella Barrentine's(George's wife) GG-Grandmother was Morning Dove(1739-1835). I noticed that the name Dove is in your family tree. Is their any connection? I think Morning was an American Indian and that she and her husband, John Blake, lived on a reservation in N.C. Beyond that, I cann't find anything on her.

Please let me know if this help and if yo have any further information.

Thanks, Donna

Hey there! I am looking for information on Thomas Barrentine of Marlboro, SC. I cannot find out who his father is. I have a feeling that Phillip Barrentine is his brother since they lived right beside each other and are only a year apart in age. I would like to know also if Thomas was a veteran of the War of 1812 and his father a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Any information that anyone could provide will help me sooo much!
