The family moved from Putnam County NY to Bradford County PA. My line is Raymond(f), Austin(g), Daniel(gg), Lewis(ggg) then Caleb(gggg). We are interested in any information of Caleb's siblings, parents and so on.
Any information is appreciated in advance.

Samuel Barrett, Newark NJ c. 1655

I am seeking information on a Samuel Barrett who would have been living in Newark, New Jersey (colony) around 1655 when his recently widowed sister Hannah (Barrett) Jenner arrived from England. This is probably the same Samuel Barrett mentioned in the 1666 will of a brother, John Barrett of London.

The sister, Hannah, is probably my 8g-grandmother. Samuel's parents would therefore be my ancestors, as well. Shortly after arriving in Newark, she married a John Coe of Guilford, CT.

Edward Barette French Canadian married in Boston with Mary Wade from NB

Im looking for any info about this Barette family

Ive got this info form an other genealogist who answered my first post.

Massachusetts Marriage 1908, Vol 581, pg 81
April 28, 1908
Edward R. Barrette, 24 yrs old, 1st marriage, resides 176 Hillside Street, occupation- waiter, born New York, N.Y., father- John Barrette, Mother- Mary Breen.
Marie A. Wade, 18 yrs old, 1st marriage, resides 176 Hillside Street, Occupation- Sewing, born Pokemouche, N.B., Father- James R. Wade, mother - Mary Ross. Officiated by Andrew Wynn, Priest, 1545 Tremont Street, Boston, Ma. 02120.

(note- Hillside Street is a in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston, it is partly Jamaica Plain and partly Roxbury (zip codes 02130 and 02120). There are mainly 2 family homes, and 'triple deckers' three storied houses with flat roofs and porches.)

(Note- the church they were married in is the Mission Hill church, approximately 15 - 20 yrs ago it became the Basilica at Mission Hill. It is under the Archdiocese of Boston. The Archdiocese does have an archives but they recently sold the property where they stored the archived records in Brighton section of Boston. They will be relocating the archives to another site, probably in Braintree, Massachusetts, sometime in 2008 or 2009. Until that time they are not going to take requests for records.)

I have tried to find Edward Barrette with wife Marie / Mary / Hannah/ Joanna. There are many Edward Barrette. I think the following census record may be for this family but I am not 100% sure.

In 1908 Edward's marriage record stated he was born in New York, but I cannot find anyone born in New York who comes close. this is the closest record I could find for 1910.

1910 US Federal Census, Rhode Island, Providence, Woonsocket,
BARRETTE, EDWARD, 28 yrs old, Born circa 1882 in Canada French, both parents born French Canada, Head of house hold, 1st marriage, married 3 yrs, White male, immigrated 1910, alien, occupation- Machinist in Machine shop.
MARIE, wife, 22 yrs old, born circa 1888, born French Canada, both parents born French Canada, 1st marriage, married 3 yrs, Speaks English, immigrated 1910, occupation- Spooler in Woolen Mill
Virginia Marriages, 1740-1850 lists David Barrett Jr. marriage to Winifred Kirby Feb. 28 1807 in Fredrick VA. The problem is that as far as I know, and according to several articles, David's father was Arthur Barrett so he couldn't be a Jr. Does anyone have any information in this matter?

Have been tracking the family of John and Frances Wilhoite Barrett and have seen records of sons Lewis, Leroy, William J, John E, and Duncan L. Does anyone know of the the 2 females listed with John in the 1830 Bedford Co. census; 1 was under 5, the other between 5 and 10? I believe my great great grandmother, Margaret Barrett (wife of A. S. Reaves) was that youngest female of 1830. She was b. 1828.
Would like to hear from someone familiar with this family.

Barrett, Sarah

Sarah Barrett, where are you? Sarah born c1835. She is listed as travelling to NZ in 1842 with her parents William and Mary Ann Barrett, onboard the London. Sarah attended the wedding of her sister Mary to John Cooper in 1850 as a witness. No trace of her since, no recorded death, intention to marry, marriage or immigration. Has anyone a stray Sarah, possibly come to Australia for Victorian Gold Rush or California for the same reason. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks KIM

looking for Michael Eugene Barrett...my husbands bio father

We are looking for Michael Eugene Barrett. He is my father's biological father, however my husband has never met or spoken to him. Michael, who I believe goes by Mike, has reddish/auburn colored hair, brown eyes, and I am guessing is probably in his early 50's. According to my husbands birth certificate, Michael was born in Chicago IL, but his date of birth was listed as unknown.

My husband is 28 years old, and would like to one day be able to talk to him. There is no bitterness or resentment. We just have two small children now and if anything, we are missing an entire half of his families medical history! It would just be neat to meet him one day.
Please let me know if you have any info!
-Cassie

Barretts of Co. Mayo (Moygownagh, etc)

There are several Barretts that interact with my direct line in various ways. I have virtually no info on them and would appreciate any help at all on their ancestors/decendants/siblings...

Catherine Barrett married Unknown Bluet (date unknown) and had at least one child: Martin Bluet b. 1862 while residing in Moygownagh. Sponsors not known.

Ann(e) Barrett married Martin Bluett/Blewitt (date unknown) and had at least three children: Martin Bluet b. 1897, Bridget b. 1898, and Mary b 1900 while residing in Fairfield, Crossmolina district or Moygownagh.
The sponsors of Bridget were James Maughan & Bridget Barrett.
The sponsors of Bridget were Anthony Maughan & Mary Barrett.
Among other things, I'd like to know if each Maughan & Barrett couple married (when, etc) and - what was the relationship between Ann(e)/Bridget/Mary (sisters?) and James/Anthony (brothers?)
Did Martin Blewitt/Ann(e) Barrett have any other children??

Patrick Gaughan (a farmer) married Bridget Barrett pre 1848 (when their first child was born), although no marriage record was located. They resided in Lisiniska. He died on 26 July 1888 (69 yo). She died on 5 Feb 1889 (64 yo).
They are direct ancestors on my father's mother side.

One of Patrick & Bridget's children - also named Patrick Gaughan was baptised on 19 June 1858. His sponsors were Tom Gaughan and Mary Barrett. Did these sponsors later marry, I wonder?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

-Eileen

I am looking for US census information for the Barrett family of Brooklyn. In 1910 parents Jeremiah (age 64) and Ellen (age 63) may have been alone. But some of their 10 kids may have been with them. They may have lived on Hicks Avenue in Brooklyn. Jeremiah died in 1914 so Ellen (sometimes called Helen) was alone in 1920 and 1930. She passed in 1933. Any information from the 1910, 1920 or 1930 census would be very helpful. Thanks.

Barrett family, 1880 census Brooklyn, New York

I am looking for the 1880 census information for the Barrett family who are probably living in Brooklyn. The family includes head of household Jeremiah Barrett (born 4/1847-age 33) an Irish immigrant (immigrated in 1867 atage 20) Janitor, wife Helen (born 4/1847-age 33) an Irish immigrant (immigrated 1867 at age 20) housekeeper/mother, daughter Mary E. (born 2/1872-age 8), daughter Juliet (born 3/1873-age 7) a bookbinder, son Michael (born 8/1874-age 5) a day laborer, John (born 2/1877-age 3). All of these children were born in New York. There is a chance there were other children born in Ireland. I am particularly interested in parents Jeremiah and Helen and any information that is available on their background in Ireland. Even the 1870 census would be great. thanks to all in advance for your help.

A Tale of Two Jonatha Barretts (b.1722 and b.1731)

I'm researching my wife's ancestry, and have found two Jonathan Barretts, and hope someone can help me out in deciding which is our family's.

My wife's ancestor was Rev. Nathan BARRETT, b. May 2, 1766 in Killingly, CT, d. Aug 11, 1825 in Hinsdale, MA. His parents were Jonathan and Sarah. I think this is probably Sarah HASCALL, and that they married Nov 1, 1750 in Thompson, CT. I think this is the right marriage based on family records of their children's birth dates that are largely consistent with those in Killingly VRs (Barbour Collection).

There are two possible Jonathan Barretts in the region.

One Jonathan BARRETT is b. Dec 8, 1722 in Malden, MA to Jonathan and Mehitable (LYNDE) BARRETT.

Another Jonathan BARRETT is b. July 6 1731 in Killingly, CT to John and Dorothy (LYNDE) BARRETT.

Family records indicate that our Jonathan BARRETT was b. 1722, but everything else is consistent with the 1731 Jonathan.

Can someone help me unravel this? Perhaps there is definitive evidence that the 1722 Malden Jonathan married someone different from the 1731 Killingly Jonathan. Or a marriage record listing one of the Jonathan's parents?

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Elizabeth I. Barrett Boyle Mann 1886- (1930-1937) WWI Vet

I am looking for any information on Elizabeth I. Barrett Boyle Mann. She was born Constance Barrett around 1886. She married a man named Boyle and had two children Concetta Boyle (born 1909) and James Boyle (born 1913). Mr. Boyle passed and she remarried Francis Mann around 1920. They had four kids Francis Mann Jr. (born 1922), Joseph Mann (born 1923), Catherine Mann (born 1925) and Alvin Mann (born 1926). Husband Francis was a soldier and WWI vet with the First Division based in Brooklyn. Elizabeth was listed as a WWI vet in the 1930 Federal Census. On son Alvin's Social Security App her first name is poorly written but looks like Constance with the middle intial clearly I. That is all I have but I am looking for Elizabeth's past, her parents, origin of birth, anything.

Barrett and James families from Cornwall England in Canada, Colorado and Montana

I've posted most of this information in the James forum, but I'm placing it here in concern with the Barrett family, specifically Grace Jone and Ann Mitchel, whose families I know nothing of, and the Barrett family which I have some information on, but would love to add to:

Hello everyone. I am looking for information on a James family that came to America from England. William James and his wife Ellen Downes Barrett (also spelled Elen, Downs) came to North America in about the year 1890. Ellen was expecting at the time and due any day. When they made it to North America, they got off in Nova Scotia, Canada, rather than continue on to the United States and waited for the baby to be born. On June 23rd, 1890 Ellen gave birth to Arthur Henry James and after recuperating, continued on to the States. Arthur ended up in Canon City, Colorado where he worked as a coal miner and met his wife Mary Alice Demicell and married her December 11, 1911. The couple had, among other children, my great grandfather William A. James.

I am looking for information on William James in England, but I would also appreciate any information anyone would be willing to share on this Barrett line. I am relatively sure that he is from Cornwall, like his wife, but not 100%.
I would really, really, REALLY appreciate anything anyone knows about William James or his his wife Ellen Downes Barret. I have nearly 1,000 names in my family tree, but these lines (specifically the James branch - the one of my own surname) is sadly one of my shortest. I would like to learn the history the Jameses in England and I truly hope someone out there can help me…

The following is the information I have managed to gather on my James line.
BARRETT Family/WASHINGTON, DC

Am looking for info on the Barrett family of Washington, DC.

In particular, I need assistance with:

John Henry BARRETT (b abt 1772 in DC, d 1820 in DC). He married Catherine ?? (b abt 1781 and d 1832 in DC). They were the parents of:

THOMAS F BARRETT (b abt 1812 in DC, d abt 1862 in DC). He married SUSAN ANN RUSTRIDGE (or Rustrage), dau of James Rustridge & Mary Gray. She was b abt 1814 in DC, d 1852 in DC).

Story has it that during the Civil War, Thomas' house was occupied by Union soldiers, who more or less tormented him about his wooden leg. His daughter (my great-grandmother), LOUISA, spent hours cooking and fetching water for them.

LOUISA JANE BARRETT (b 1850 in DC, d 1929 in DC), marr FREDERICK TOONE (of Quorndon, Leic, England, who settled in DC in the 1850's).

Any info on this branch of the DC Barrett's would be most appreciated.

franniedavis@verizon.net
Samuel Barrett (VA, b. abt 1870) m. Jane Lilly (WV)

I'm looking for a Samuel Barrett who fought in the Spanish-American War. His wife, Jane Lilly, was born around 1896, but he was several years older than her. He was English, and I even think he might be part of the Tazewell, VA clan because that's a town that comes up a lot in family births.

He worked in the railroads, moving from VA to WV. He bought a Standard Oil service station.

His children were: James, David, William, Robert and Louise.

Any help appreciated.
