Re: Help with John Barrick

I have been doing extensive Barrick research for quite a while, working on the Cumberland & Perry County lines. I have your people on my database but as yet have tied them in. My research shows her husband as HENRY instead of JOHN. With these families there are a lot of John's, Henry's, and John Henry's, so my guess would be that the "wife of John" on the stone means his name was most likely was "John Henry Barrick".

Here are some of my notes on this family that may help:
Patriot newspaper, March 25, 1895:
"The funeral of Mrs Hettie Barrick, who died at the home of her son-in-law, P.D. Beidel, on Friday night, will be held this afternoon at her home. Deceased was a member of the U.B. church and is survived by two children, George Barrick and Mrs. P. D. Beidel."

Patriot newspaper, March 26, 1895:
"Rev. Ludwig conducted funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Hettie Barrick at home of her son-in-law, Philip D Beidel yesterday afternoon. The service was largely atended. Four grandchildren of deceased, Messrs. Charles and John Beidel, W. Hastings and Mr. Weidman were pallbearers."

Daughter Catharine Barrick was married to Louis Weidman May 3, 1855, in St Pauls Lutheran Church, Carlisle, PA.
Source: Mt Hope Evang. Lutheran Church records p.32; Catherine Barrick md. Louis Weidman at St Pauls Lutheran Church, Carlisle; witness Philip Hoffman & wife.

Daughter Emma/Evaline Barrick was married to Philip D Beidel on Oct 11, 1866 - from Carisle newspaper 10/26/1866:
"On the 11th inst at the M E Parsonage by Rev D H Carroll, Philip D BENDEL of Chambersburg to Miss Emma BARICK of Carlisle"

I'm going to research this family so more, so would you contact me by email at lindad612@hotmail.com, and we can work together and hopefully fit John into the rest of the large Barrick family, as locations above definitely fit him into the vicinity of my family.

Help with John Barrick

My GGG grandmother is Hetty (Hettie) Barrick (1815-1895). She is buried in the Baldwin Cemetery, Steelton, Dauphin Co., PA. On her tombstone it says she is the wife of John Barrick. In her will she names 6 children, 5 daughters Eliza, Mary, Kate, Sarah and Emma (Eveline) and a son, George. The dates of birth range from 1834 to the early 1840s. It appears that John probably died before 1850 and the children were sent to relatives or foster parents. The only thing I know about John is his name. Can anyone provide additional information on John?

That is very interesting information. Thank you for posting it. It seems that Barrick Shipbuilders were in trouble round about that time because, if I have understood things correctly, the London Gazette of 10 April 1866, carried a bankruptcy notice for Henry and George Barrick of Whitby. I am still not sure though that this is my Henry! I need further help from the Ancestry community.

Thank you!

It may be of interest, but I was looking through my great grandfathers accounts book for the Brig John and Mary on 26 March 1866. The ship was repaired by 'Henry Barrick of the West side of Whitby'. He was paid personnally £13 0s 0d with a total bill of £52 2s 5d.

i, too, am searching for more information on William E. Barrick (Buck). My mother was the daughter of Richard Cox Barrick. I saw an old picture of my grandfather taken when he was a young man, and he had dark hair and high cheekbones and looked different than his siblings (or so my mother told me). Mom passed away in May 2000. She used to visit an Indian squaw at the Mattopani Indian reservation and my sister and I suspected that our grandfather was adopted by Buck Barrick when he lived in Water View, VA. There is proof (as in an obituary for William E. Barrick)that he was a friend of Robert E. Lee and had invited the General to have dinner with him. He served the great general brandied peaches (or pears)and after the Civil War, he saw R. E. Lee on the streets of Richmond walking on the other side of the street near the state capitol and General Lee saw him and crossed the street to greet him. And he was quick to recall the dinner he'd had with Buck Barrick and how the brandied peaches were the most wonderful thing he'd ever eaten. Mom had a family reunion for the Barricks years ago and someone had made copies of Buck Barrick's obituary, where that story was shown. I know that my great grandfather Buck married sisters. His second wife was my great grandmother, Sally Byrd, who died at the age of 100 the year before my birth. I only had the pleasure of knowing my Uncle Irvin. He was a dear man, always smiled. Buck Barrick died in Portsmouth and I think he lived down the street from my grandfather, Richard Cox Barrick, in Port Norfolk. And I think my brother has the picture of my grandfather (that showed him as a young man). I'm very sure he was adopted. And I just discovered that Pocohantas was from the Mattaponi Indian Tribe...which the tribe of her mother which may mean that we're descended from her. Wow.

Re: Barricks - boatbuilders from Whitby

rashakesby: I would really appreciate your help. I know you posted your original offer of assistance several years ago so I hope it still stands. Your original post rang a large bell!

I am a descendant of William Hill Barrick (b 1842) whose father and mother were Henry and CathArine/CathErine Barrick of Whitby (m 1837). Henry and Catherine appear to have moved to London. Henry married a second time - to Rebecca Jefferson. William Barrick travelled to South Africa where he married Jane Temperance Baxter in June 1863, had two children, returned to the UK for the birth of their third child, Florence Lavinia, and may then have returned to SA.

I would like to research further back than Henry and Catherine, but find I am confused by the different Henry's of Whitby. I think Eliza may have been a sister to a Henry.

I have looked at 19th Century newspapers online, searching all the BMD announcements for the name Barrick listed over many years but this has caused more confusion - although I did find a bankruptcy notice for a Henry and George Barrick, Ship Builders of Whitby in 1866. I also have an 1814 will for a Henry Barrick downloaded from the National Archives.

Given my present confusion, I wonder whether you would mind sharing some of your information with me?

Many thanks for any help you can give me.
I am descended from Thomas Barrick on my mother's side. Her grandmother was Ellen Fountaine Lambe born in 1850, who was daughter of Eliza Barrick (born about 1819).

My mother's father (Henry Raymond) and his brother (George) retained the 'Lambe' surname. I do have a family tree, although it needs some TLC. I would be happy to exchange information.

Rick Shakesby

I can't help you with his parents, but there was a Cornelius Barrick that married a Margaret Penner in Waynesboro, Franklin Co, PA on June 2, 1855 according to LDS records, and I'm wondering if this may be the same one. I've studied the Barrick families in Cumberland, Franklin & Perry Counties of PA, and can't fit him into this line. There is a Margaret Barrick, wife of Cornelius, that is buried in the Old Union Cemetery in Waynesboro, her dates were b. about Aug 1814, and died Sep 12, 1857. Cornelius is not listed in that cemetery. Could this be a 2nd marriage after first wife's death?

Thank you so much! Yes, I have been in contact with relatives and found that Henry Harrison's father was Henry Palmer Barrick.

I really appreciate your help!

I am also researching my father's side, the Stangers. I have found information through relatives on Floyd J. Stanger, who was my great-great grandfather, and his father was "J.C. Stanger", but I'm not sure where taht information came from and have been unable to locate anything solid. I found a John C. Stanger, and the birth & death match up with the time frame, but I can't be sure that's him. Could you point me in the direction of any free research tools? My biggest hurdles have been in sifting through the various websites...

My email is Sandy@BeachWoodPhotography.com

Thanks again for your help!

I will be sending you an email will some documents, but here's what I found...

1918 Draft Registration for Henry Harrison shows his birth as June 26th, 1885. His nearest relative was Lottie Barrick. They lived at that time in Ponca City, Kay, OK.

It appears your Henry Harrison Barrick generally went by "Harry H Barrick".

1920 census in Longwood, Kay Co, OK, shows Harry H Barrick, wife Lottie M Barrick, daughters Pauline, Lucile, Ruth and "Faye", and sons Henry and Paul. Harry is a farmer.

1930 shows them still in Longwood. Harry is still a farmer, with wife Lottie, daughters Lucile, Ruth and Faye, sons Henry, Paul and Loren.

Harry's parents were born in Illinois according to census.
Lottie's parents - born in Wisconsin.

FindAGrave shows a Harry Barrick 1885-1960 with Lottie Barrick 1891-1967, married Nov 17, 1910:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=pv&GRid=52...

In the same cemetery on Findagrave is Henry P 1850-1925 and Margaret M Barrick 1853-1924. The dates and location in same cemetery give a good possibility they may be parents of your Henry Harrison, needs to be proven.

In following this Henry & Margaret, I found them in Douglas County, Illinois in the 1900 census. Henry b. May 1850, Margaret born Aug 1853, and children Cleo, Harry H born June 1885, Grace, Ward?, Flora and Walter.

Hopefully this will prove out for you. Documents mentioned above will be emailed to you.

Linda

Wow, that helps a lot!

The 1900 census shows a Milton Barrick living in Tazewell Illinois. Born in June 1894, so it's probably the same one. No father is listed as living there, but his mother is Emma Barrick, and his grandmother is Alisa Steger.

My line is with Viola, who is my great-grandfather's sister. Thanks for you great insights. That gives me a lot to go on.

I believe I've found a little information on your family .. 1930 census for Gilroy, Santa Clara Co, California, has the following at 337 Rosanna Street..

James E Davis, 47, married first at age 39, b. CA, parents born US, painter of signs and buildings
wife Viola E, 33, married first at age 18, b. CA, parents born CA
stepdaughter Vivienne E, 14, b. CA, father born IL, mother born CA
daughter Virginia M, 7, b. CA, parents b. CA

All members of this family carry the Davis last name according to the census, which would be odd considering Vivienne is listed as stepdaughter. I'd believe she probably had a different last name.. possibly Barrick? Vivienne's record also shows her father was born in Illinois (California was scratched out and replaced with Illinois), and you noted Indiana as his birth, but depending on who gave the information, this may be wrong as well.

Since James was married first at age 39, it would appear that James and Viola married about 1922, which would fit your not finding Milton & Viola in 1930.

The 1920 census for Milton & Viola show what looks to be the same address of 337 Rosanna Street. Looks like Viola kept the house, which shows as being owned, no mortgage in 1920. (1930 census shows what looks to be "Un" unknown? for the ownership of the home)

This would leave the question as to what happened to Milton between 1920 and 1922 - either death or divorce?

More searching seems to prove this is your Viola and Vivienne as I found a birth record of a Virginia Davis on Oct 21 1922 in Santa Clara County, mother's maiden name Kenneson.

This might be a coincidence (or not) but a search of newspapers hit on Nevada State Journal out of Reno, Nevada, haon Aug 30, 1921, shows a court calendar which included a case of Viola Barrick vs. Milton Barrick. Divorce??

1930 census for Tacoma, WA, shows a Milton Barrick, 35, (born c. 1895), single, as a boarder in household of a Laveneau family. He shows as born in Indiana, parents born in Indiana, and is a baker. BUT, there is also a Milton J Barrick, 26, single also in Tacoma, as a lodger in a household of a Riley family in the 1920 census. So, there is a chance this is another Milton J Barrick.

I hope this will give you some leads to find out what happened to Milton.

Do you have parents of Milton Barrick? I'd be interested to see if he ties into some of the Indiana/Illinois/Iowa, etc Barricks that originated in Pennsylvania.
I tend to agree with you. Jane would have been a little old to have children starting at that age.

I do believe that Jane was a Fickes and not Fackes.

1880 & 1885 IA census has John A Barrick born 1862 and because it is much easier to change your age as you get older, I do belive that he was born in 1862 contrary to what is on his death certificate and in later census as 1858 for a birth date.

It would be very possible that when Henry went to the Civil War, that Jane moved back with a relative, and that she did pass on prior to Henry's marraige in 1867. I agree that the age of Jane on the census seems old for a woman to have her first born 1862. I am going to seach more this week after I regroup.

I have searched everywhere I can think of for Henry and Margaret and Emma Retta Barrick in 1870. Margaret's boys were with her parents John and Ann Fagan.

Jeannette

A good chance that Jane died prior to Henry's 2nd marriage in 1867.

In 1860 Henry is with his mother and brother in Mifflin Twp, Cumberland Co. So, one guess is John A was actually born after this census was taken, which would explain why we can't find Jane & John in 1860.
One other thought is that Jane died prior to census and baby John A was with another family. The only female in Henry's residence is his mother was is 70 years old, and possibly incapable of tending a child. Census could show John with name of family he is with instead of Barrick??

In 1870 Henry has been married to Margaret Fagan for 3 years. I can't locate Henry & Margaret or John in 1870 census, although I believe they were in Iowa.

The Jane you note that was 50 in 1870 census was in Philadelphia, born in Ireland. While it is a possibility, it doesn't seem like a good fit, but who knows??

Henry & Margaret Gilbert had a son Harrison b. 1893, who is also buried in Mt Tabor.

Hi,

Jane Fackes (according to John A. Barrick death certificate) was the mother of John A. Barrick and wife of Henry. Jane must have been old enough to have a child by 1858/1862 the year John A. was born. John A. was 18 (1862) on the 1880 census in Polk City, Polk, Madison twp., IA but lists date of birth as 1858 on later census and death certificate.

I do agree that the Jane Fackes in a probable incorrect spelling of Henry's first wife -- possible Fickes or Fickus as there were several in the area at the time.

I did find a Jane Barrick with children John and Caddie Barrick in PA, PA in 1870. Jane has age of 50 John 12 and Caddie 15.

I have been on overload and need to update my family tree maker. I have stacks of paper...lol.

Is there a Harry as son of Henry? I will catch up with you this week.

Jeannette

I agree. Fickes is in PA in the 1860 census not Fackes. Henry Barrick son's wife was the informat. She may not have known the spelling. I am going to mail for the marriage certificate of John Barrick and Jermima Barrick. I will let you know. Do you want a copy of Henry and Margaret Fagan Larence Barrick's marriage register and license? I can also send you a copy of John Barrick cemetery stone and Jemima's ?(she is buried with a joint stone of her last husband William Dickey, my 2nd great grandfather.)

I have sent you an email with additional information.

Here's another tidbit to possibly fit in... I found a marriage license in Franklin Co, PA (adjacent to Cumberland Co) for a Harry T. Barrick, born c.1864 Green Twp, Franklin Co, to Laura C Miller, b.c1869 Franklin Co. Marriage was 07 Mar 1916 in Shippensburg. (Cumberland or Franklin Co depending on location in Shippensburg). Harry listed parents as Sarah Fickes and Henry Barrick. So far, I don't have them tied into line.. just sitting there waiting for connection. But, could "Sarah" Fickes be the Jane Fackes you are looking for? Possibly Sarah Jane Fickes? Fickes would be a more common name for this area than Fackes. I'm going to try to find a little more on this family.

The two stepsons would be the sons of Margaret Fagan Larence. Emma's notes read that they were called Norbiss and Oliver. Census has the in 1880 living with Margaret and Henry as Denorbiss (12) and Breckenridge (18) Lawrence.

Both born IA father born KY I have not located Margarets first husband.

Please send me information on how to get your book, Bill Savage would like one also.

I have a marriage photo of Orval and Anna Barrick Dickey and copies of 4 sisters from Lori and Bill.

Margaret Fagan was the daughter of John and Ann Gooden Fagan of Huntington, PA.

I would love to have a copy of Henry's obit, even without the source, and a copy of marriage license to Margaret Heckman.

Do you have the parents of George and Heckman/dates/places?

If there is anything in IA that I can look up for you, please let me know.

Jeannette

Great research on Henry! You definitely tied him right into my tree even though I resisted the connection before on this thread... Here's info that I had on him...

Henry Barrick was son of George and Maria Magdalena Heckman Barrick, who happen to be my 3rd g-gparents. He was born Jan 1838 in Newburg, Cumberland Co, PA, and I have his death as 1918 according to the stone photo that I posted on findagrave.

According to his marriage license to wife Margaret Susan Gilbert, daughter of William & Angeline Meixel Gilbert, which I viewed at the Cumberland County Courthouse, they were married Jan 7 1886 in Cumberland Co by David Smith, JP. From this license I found that his first wife died Mar 22, 1878. He listed parents as George and Polly Heckman Barrick. ("Polly" is Maria)

I have Henry in Mifflin Twp, Cumberland Co, in 1860 census living with mother Mary, 70 and brother Elias, 21.

He then disappeared from Cumberland County, for which you now explained where he went, then was back in Cumberland County, and in the 1900 and 1910 census is residing in Hopewell Twp, Cumberland County.

Children of Henry and Margaret Gilbert Barrick are...
Martha Jane b. Aug 1888, Elmeda/Ellen May Aug 1890, Daniel Carson b. Mar 1892, Harrison William b. Apr 1893, Lily b. Nov 1894, Emory E b. Apr 189l, Rena Blanche b. Mar 1898. There may have been one more.

At their marriage, Margaret Gilbert was 35, a resident of Newton Twp, Cumberland Co, could not read, mother's name Angeline Meixel, father's name hard to decipher, believe it to be William Gilbert, she signed with X.

Her gravestone photo that I posted on findagrave shows her as "Mother" 1854-1932.

Margaret S Barrick's will excerpt: of Hopewell Twp, weak of body, sound of mind, daughter Martha Jane Mixell $1, daughter Almeta May Miller $1, son Daniel C $1, son Emery E $1, daughter Rena Blanche Chestnut $1, son Harrison W, residue of estate, he to keep me during lifetime.

I have an obit note on my records about him, unfortunately I'm not sure of the source and I don't have a copy of the actual obit, but note shows "H.Barrick of Mt Tabor died recently, age 80, survived by wife Margaret and several children, 2 stepsons, and brother". I'm not sure where the stepsons fit into the picture, but according to my record, the only possibly living siblings were Jonathan who died in Mar 1918, and John who died in Illinois, but I didn't have the date.

I have much more information on this family's descendants of this family as well as ancestors -- this has been a 30 year project for me that actually ended up as a book a few years ago.

If you have any specific questions, please post... I'll update my records with your findings, and then go after John who appears to possibly be the brother of Henry. From a 1850 census, I have his age as 20, thus born c. 1830.

Linda (Barrick) Durham
I have spent the last 2 days at the Historical bldg. in Des Moines, IA. I also went to the Military Musem in Johnston and Iowa Genealogy Society in Des Moines.

John Barrick probate records are there but only has the normal and no information except that his wife was Jemima Grigsby Barrick - John Coffman and John Walker were the administrators. Jemima married John Coffman 1870. William Walker later married to Emma Barrick Allen the oldest daughter of Henry and Margaret Barrick. Jemima married William Dickey after John Coffmans death. William Dickey's son Orval married Anna Barrick. 3rd daughter of Henry and Margaret Barrick. These 2 families entertwine for a number of years. Henry and Margaret Barrick were married in John and Jemima Barrick's home.

Jemima Grigsby married John Barrick in Warren Co, IL in 1854 but they returned to Polk City, Polk, IA before John enlisted in 1861. Jemima Grigsby's family had settled in Polk City, IA from OH abt 1853.

John Barrick civil war records were minimal and have no added information. IA Inf. 9 co. G 1861-1862. Nothing in correspondence for John Barrick either. Pages were very fragile and could not be scanned.
GAR has John Barrick postname: Janesville (Bremer Co.,IA) Post No. 172 (36) 1841*1869 Enlisted 10 Aug 1861 Discharged disability 17 May 1862 Mustered 24 Sept 1861.

Henry and Margaret Barrick's marriage license and marriage register copied. NOTE: They were married at the home of John Barrick Aug 1867 in Polk City, IA. John Coffman signed as a relative for verification of the marriage license. Unsure how he is related, not that I can tell, but a close friend and later husband of Jemima Grigsby Barrick.

I believe that that these two Barrick men are related and possible brothers. John and Henry Barrick who were found in 1860's in Polk City, Polk, IA . They were both born a couple years apart in Cumberland,PA. Polk City was a very small town of only a few hundred people in 1860's.

I ran out of time today so next week I will look thru Polk County reels and see if I can find anything on the Bond for the young children of Margaret Fagan Barrick who died in 1880. The reels start in 1881....perhaps Henry is still in Polk County until then. It appears that he did not get remarried until abt. 1891. as sons born in 1893 and 1896.
I know that the younger of the five daughters were adopted out. Henry disappears.
No probate for Margaret Barrick or Henry Barrick in IA. This suggests that he did not die in IA.

I wonder if anyone can find or has a will for George Barrick 1798-1842 Cumberland PA. Children Henry, Sarah, Andrew, Jonathan, David, Elias, John Barrick. (2 Johns)

My Therory:

Henry Barrick was born in 1835 in Cumberland, PA (possible son of George Barrick 1798). Children list on census matches notes we found from Henry's children.
Married Jane ? Fackes in PA (according to son John A. Barrick 1858-1923 death certificate MO online) 1870 census has a Jane Barrick 50 Ire, John 12 PA, Caddie 15 PA in PA, PA. John A. Barrick 1858 PA was living with Henry and Margaret in 1880 census in IA. Henry was on tax lists in 1863 in IA. Married Margaret Fagan Larence in 1967 in Polk, IA. After her death in 1880 he returned to PA and married Mararget unknown 1864-1932 and had 2 sons Harrison W 1893 and Emory E. 1896-1981 according to Find A Grave with military stone "Henry Barick" Co. G 21st Cav. Pvt. When I look up military rcords:Henry Barrick enlisted Feb. 1864, mustered out Jul 1865. A Margaret Barrick applied for his pension 1890 and widowed 1913 Mar 18. This matches the military stone in Newberg, Cumberland, PA online at FindAGrave.com. Timeline matches for Henry Barrick.

I would really like to join John and Henry Barrick. And prove it. I do believe the Huntingdon PA and Cumberland PA Barrick/Barrack lines will join too.

If anyone can help me prove the connections of John and Henry Barrick and to their parents, I would appreciate it.
Through census records, I have a possible trail for you... it would need verified, but a definite "maybe"...

1860 census in Middlesex, S.Brunswick, NJ: #502/523
William Barricks, 50, laborer, b.England
Elizabeth Barricks, 31, born NJ
Amanda Barricks, 12, born NJ
William Barricks, 8, b. NJ
Mary E Barricks, 5, b. NJ
Austin Barricks, 4/12 b. NJ

1870 in Northampton Twp, Bucks Co, PA: #115/125
In household of Evaline & Joseph Cornell:
Augusta Barrack, 18, farm laborer, born NJ
Elizabeth Barrack, 15, born NJ (possibly Mary E above?)

1880 in Marito, Mason, IL #163/169:
Wm A Barrack, 27, widowed, farmer, b. NJ, parents b. NJ
In same house, 2nd family #163/170:
Rebecca A Barrick, 50, widow, keeping house, b. PA, parents b. NJ
Austin McCabe, 21, son, farm laborer, b. NJ, mother b. PA, father b. PA
Laura McCabe, 13, daughter, b. PA, parents b. PA
Emma Barrick, 3, daughter, b. PA, father b. NJ, mother b.PA
Carrie Barrick, 1, daughter, b. IL, father b. NJ, mother b.PA
(This leaves a lot of confusion if same family... Wm on bottom of page, and rest starts on top of next page, which may be part of confusion, but I'm thinking Emma & Carrie are probably children of William who is a widower at this time. The Austin "McCabe" appears to be the Austin Barrick of the earlier census. Earlier census shows Elizabeth which may not be wife, and this one shows Rebecca. But yet, enough good fits to keep this is a possible).

1910 in Spring Lake, Tazwell, IL:
William A Barrick, 58, married x4, 8 yrs married, b. NJ, father b. NJ, mother b. PA
wife Carrie, 26, married x 1, 8 yrs married, b. Indiana, parents b. KY
daughter Mary R, 8, b.IL, father b. NJ, mother IN
son William 7, b. IL, father b. NJ, mother b. IN
son Augustus, 5, b. IL, father b. NJ, mother b. IN
son Nelson, 2, b. IL, father b. NJ, mother b. IN
son Roland, 1, b. IL, father b. NJ, mother b. IN

1920 Pekin Precint, Tazewll, IL:
Gus Barrick, 67, b. PA, parents b.US, laborer steel & wire company
wife Carrie, 34, b. IN, parents b. KY
son William 16
son Gus, 15
son Nelson, 12
son Rolland, 10
dtr Mable, 8

1930 Pekin District, Tazewell, Illinois
Carrie Barrick, 47, widow, b. IN, parents b. KY
Rolland Barrick, son, 21, single, b. IL, father b. IL, mother b. IN

Now, I found a problem to throw into the mixture...
Daily Leader newspaper of Pontiac, Illinois, Nov 8, 1974, has an obituary for William Barrick, 71. He was born Mar 22, 1903 a son of Gus & Carrie (Lucas) Barrick. He married Lois Hurst at Pekin on May 8, 1957. Survived by a brother Nelson of Peoria, sisters Mrs Frank Wrhel of Pekin and Mrs Rebecca Hall of St Louis. 2 brother preceded him in death.
(Note Carrie's maiden name of Lucas).

And, in the Pekin Daily Times of 11/9/2004 there is an obit for a Mary Ida Trapp, 90, who died 11/6/2004. It states she was daughter of George & Carrie Payne Barrick Beimfohr, and was born Aug 8, 1931 in Pekin.

I also found a 1930 census for George & Carrie Beinfohr in Peoria, she's 51, b. IL, parents b. PA. marriage at age 18 with 6 children in household from 1 to 20.
George & Carrie Beimfohr are also in 1920 census in Peoria.

To wrap it up, I think I may have created more questions than found answers.

If you can make any sense of this, and anything fits, get back to me and I'll see if I can find anything else.
