Henderson Barrier b.6 Dec. 1853, Wayne Co., KY; his father was Isaac Barrier b. 4 Aug 1827, Wayne Co., KY; his father was Aaron Barrier b. 14 Feb 1798, Pulaski Co., KY, his father Reverend Richard Barrier b. 2 Apr 1768 Rowan Co., SC and his father Abraham Aaron Barrier b. 1741 Stuttgart, Neckarkrels, Wurtemberg, Germany.

Does anyone have these folks in their line and would care to share info with me? I'm trying to compile a book for my dad for Christmas but failed to write down some of my sources and want to be 100% certain when I make this gift. All info and photos will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

MOBILE REGISTER 22 AUG 1934

John Littleton Barrier, a native of Whistler (Mobile Co) AL, and a resident of Mobile for the past 17 years, died at a local infirmary Monday night. He is survived by his widow Mrs Joan Barrier; two sons, Charles Edward Barrier of Sucarnochee MS, and Chesley Barrier of Mobile AL, and other relatives. His remains were shipped by the Roche Mortuary via the Mobile & Ohio railroad at 7 o'clock last night to Yellow Pine (Washington Co) AL where funeral services and interment will be held.

Not my family, just sharing from the newspaper archives of the Mobile Public Library.

Looking for information on Philip Barrier.
born 5 November 1812 in what is now Monroe Co. (according to one 1880 book)

moved to Ransom Luzerne Co (now Lackawanna Co) in 1840.

Married between 1840 and 1844 to Susan Dorsheimer born 28 September 1829 (daughter of Jacob and Barbara Brong/Brang Dorsheimer of Monroe County. They moved to Ransom in 1839).

Had 3 daughters: Barbara M. Barrier LaCoe, Catharine "Kate" Barrier Winters, and Anna "Annie" Barrier Ace.

In one census, he has a nephew named William Barrier living with him. He was a teenager at the time. I have to look that information up again.

Died 13 January 1901

Buried in Ransom Valley Cemetery, Ransom, PA (Jacob Dorsheimer's family is buried here. Jacob and his brother John Dorsheimer donated the land for the cemetery and church)

I'm looking for any information on Jacob Barrier (Berger) founder of the Barrier family in Davidson Co., NC. His wife was Barbara Christina Kuntz - first settled in PA abt. 1751. Settled near Lexinton, NC. Jacob was killed by Indians in 1764.

My line is through his son, Charles, great-grandfather of Eleanor (Ellen) Barrier Rothrock.

Any information would be appreciated.

October 25, 2003 was the day that MILLER M. "BUDDY" BARRIER went to be with his Lord and beloved parents, Miller and Ocie Hays Barrier. He was a retired mechanical engineer having won many awards and honors from his employers in the oil and gas industry. He was also an inventor with several patents to his credit. The most important thing he left behind were his daughters, Kathryn Barrier Bernhardt, Julie Barrier Clardy and Laurie Barrier Lamb and his eight grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Tassa Barrier Bishop and husband Dr. Marion R. Bishop and Dona Barrier Crowell and husband, Thomas N. Crowell, Attorney at Law, and numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 27, 2003, Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, October 28th in the Chapel of Angels, Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery grounds with interment to follow in the cemetery. Rev. Cynthia Harvey will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.

So glad you were able to get so much info. However I am sorry I did not get to meet you and your wife while you were here. Were you able to look at the book on Jonas Ridge? Also what about the 1790 Census. There was an Elijah, Elizabeth, Thomas,Jacob and Ed Green/Greene listed there. The only Wm Greene I have listed for a marriage bond was a William, Jr who married Nancy Horton on Oct 29, 1811 with bondsman William Green and witness J. Ervin. I hope you found this info but I thought I would send it anyway just in case. If you need anything since I am close please call on me because I only live about 20 minutes from the N.C. Room at the library in Morganton, (Burke county). I will be visiting the library in 2 weeks and will be glad to help in any way I can.
