Have to find my paperwork again... sorry. I do know that Catherine was married to a (? till I find it again) Caley/Covey who died in Andersonville Prison, and that she had at least an eldest daughter named Anna. Anna was 18 when Catherine died according to family info I have.
I'll get more to you as soon as I can find it... I'm pretty sure it includes at least his first name...

We have been trying to get more info about the Native American part of the family, and can't find anything further back than Catherine.
I would appreciate any information you have about her parents, grandparents, etc.
Also, if you have any clarification about children she had at her death. We only have a record of the children who went to the Soldier and sailors Home... I understand that she had a much younger child or children than Clara...

John Douglas Barriger was married to Lilly Carter, my great-grandmother Bessie's sister. I don't have a Barriger connection, but I do have a lot of info and photos of the Carters, if anyone comes from this family line. Would love to hear from anyone who is interested in the Carter family.

I am searching for relatives of my mother who dies in March 5, l955. She had a brother Name Bob or Robert Barriger, he died 8-5-1937. He was buried in Mt. Pleasant Cementery in Scottsville, KY. Her mother name was Buna Farwell, she died 12-9-49. She was buried in Mt. Pleasant Cementery in Scottsville. She had a brother named John Douglas. Would appreciate any information I can get on these relatives.

Francis Barriger and Catherine Gaylord were my great-grandparents on my father's side.
Francis Barriger was Catherine's second husband... Caley was her first husband's name.
What information do you have, and what are you looking for? I have a copy of a transcript of Catherine Gaylord's obituary, and some other info.

This is not my family, but I thought someone might be interested in the mention of Green W. Barriger in the 5 October 2010 "100 Years Ago" column of "The Sun" from North Vernon, Jennings County, IN. There are several paragraphs on Green W. Barriger who lives south of Elizabethtown, Jennings County, IN. He is 70 years old in 1910, has two deceased wives and is looking for a third. He has children with both wives, but no names are given.

I am the grandaughter of Armond Milton Barriger, married to Leta Davison of the thumb area of MI. It appears by census records that Howard Stanley Barriger is the father of Armond Milton Barriger. The record says that Howard married Robie Ann Hutchinson. The posting was form a member of the LDS church.

These are Michigan Barrigers from the "thumb". At least that is where I believe they originated, this branch. Howard William is my husbands grandpa. In the early days the name was recorded many ways.
Bariger, Barriger, Baringer, Shovelbarger, Shoffelbarger, Shufflebarger, S.Barger, Barger.
"Early Adventures on the Western Waters" published by Mary Kegley of Virginia lists several diffent spellings.
Many I know to belong in my Shufflebarger family.

I show Fred E. Barriger to have been born June 1885 per the 1900 census. His father was Ezra Barriger he was married twice. First to Hattie _______ and Second to Mary E. _______. Fred is probably Hattie's son. Ezra was born around 1853 and His parents were William Barriger and Emeline Bigford/Bickford. William was born in Dundas County, Ontario around 1825. William's grandfather fought in the American Revolution first as a drummer boy and later as a private in the New York Militia.

I have not gotten any further with this query. I know of at least two sons, Ralph & Raymond (my GGGgrand father)
. Fred Barriger was born in 1865 in Chenango,Broome,Ny.

Fred married Mary E Utter daughter of Martin B Utter and Phoebe Annette Haynes in 1889 in Chenango,Broome,Ny. Mary was born in 1868 in Chenango,Broome,Ny.

They had the following children:

2 M i. Ralph Barriger .

3 M ii. Raymond Barriger 4 was born on 1 Mar 1895 in Chenango,Broome,Ny. He died on 17 Dec 1988.
Raymond married Nellie A Whittacker daughter of Frank Whittacker and Alice K Sherwood on 1 Jan 1912. Nellie was born on 4 Jul 1894. She died in Jan 1952.

Manny I remember hearing something about a feud concerning the spelling of the name. Do you know of any info on Joseph Henry Barriger?
He is my father. He died and was buried in Sandstone Minnesota in 1947. He had 2 brohers that I know of named Isaac? but they called him Ike. The other is named Tony. Anyway that's all I know. If there is any info about this family please let me know. Thank you.

Yes that is true that there was a fued long ago between two brothers which caused a change in the way that the name was spelled. I believe the brothers were in the colonial war and moved from Boston to upper New York then to Canada. During that time the fight happened. My name is Manny Barriger I live in Grand Rapids Michigan. I came to the United States in the early 1970's from Europe. My grandfather Armond Barriger use to have large family reunions of over 100 people each year. Since my grandparents have passed away I haven't seen much of any Barriger Clan. I assumed that the surname was just dying out. I would love to communicate with all who wish to write. My curiosity stems towards - where and when did the Barriger/Barrigar family enter the United States, and from what country. On the interenet the best that I have been able to do is locate this information back to the 1700's. My grandfather told me that there were two Barrigar brothers that long ago fueded after the outfall the GAR on the end of the name was changed to GER between the two of them. The family tree which I am working on includes a branch, the descendents of James Walter Barrigar who spell the family last name with an "ar" and a branch the descendents of William Ezra Barriger who spell the family last name with an "er". William Ezra had a son, Howard Stanley Barrigerwho had a son named Armond (who died in 1975). They all lived in the thumb of Michigan. Does this sound like the family that you are seeking? Your statement that you recently returned from Europe confuses me. Please explain.

Have you located any information on the origins of his mother, Margaret Fero? Or his wife, Mary Senox (b. 1814)? How are you related to these folks? Wm Ezra is my g-g-g-grandfather as follows: (Wm Ezra->James Walter->Charlotte Barrigar Conant->Ella Eliza Conant Battenfield->Alverna Battenfield Smith->Shirley Smith.
