Ian, I'm not sure of location, but I believe that my earliest relative came from the Lancashire area. It is believed that brothers John and Thomas Barrow came to VA when young boys. This was in the mid 1600s. I would be curious to know if you have found any references to young Barrow boys coming to American around that time. Thanks so much, and good luck with your research. Marilyn

Dear sandy, i am also a decendant of clyde barrow,my grandmother, two uncles and four aunts escaped to portland oregon, back in the fourties there were only russian potato farmers up here/they were the only ones willing to work so hard to stay/m y grandfather at the time had a still in atlanta and of course he came to call for shelter from the law and a new accomplice for his crimes, for the first time in my grandmothers life/even though he was a hardcore four hundred pound alcoholic/an d, his cousin clyde was a heavily wanted fugitive, she stood up for her family/with bonnies help and emptied the contents of the still/which was all they had to survive/leaving it to clyde and another trusted neibore at which time they borded the train with one paid for ticket from what they could sell there/leaving grandpa to sell the rest off his flatbed truck to sell the rest of the way. whenever the tickets ran out/he would be there to buy another till he ran out of moonshine in oregon.

so there you have it.. some more of youre fami lie my grandfathers name was buck. you can reach me at xhrtbreaker.com would like to hear of relatives/old downsouth..dave

Clyde Barrow

Hi there,

I have been researching Clyde's line as my Barrow line came out of HICO, TX into Dallas.

I purchased Gaylon's book and he refers to Henry's (Clyde's father) as being the son of James Reverend Barrow born in 1801 in Washington GA.

I don't see how this is possible as Rev James life is very documented and it appears he only had one wife Lucinda Bivens. They have no child listed as Henry and he was born in 1874 which would make Rev James in his 80's.

James and Lucy did have a child named James Reeves Barrow born in 1844. Born and Died in GA.

On Henry's Death certificate he has a James of AL listed as his father and a Lonnie Jane listed as his mother.

I don't see a Lonnie or a Henry listed anywhere on Ancestry as being related to the Barrow family of GA.

How did Gaylon come to this conclusion? There are census records all over the place including GA, AL, and FL, and TX listing a Henry Barrow and a James. They mention a Eupremia (Fanny) as a possible mother for Henry or maybe his father's first wife.

Has anyone done any research on your own?

Check the library of Virginia website. Try Barrow, Barrowe & Burrough. There is a John Barrow in 1638/1639 in the Chancery records from Wallop, Southampton, England.

My name is Charles Kirk and have heard all my life I'm kin to Clyde Barrow though my mothers side. I know some of the Williams history, my great grandmother was Ora ola Stubs and married a Williams, and started/was part of the Williams family in Chambers county Texas on cr 565 just north of I-10, there's a Tilton Stubs cemetery 200 yards North of grandma Ola's homes location. Her son Fred/Freddy aka uncle buddy traced family lines back to 1060, I don't know the names but I do remember the year he told me. We had ties to King Charles the ? through a mistress, my sister has the records to the best of my knowledge. I will make some calls tomorrow and see if I can get my hands on the records. To my knowledge no one was wealthy just lots of them in that area if your name is williams good chance we are related as we go back to the Mayflower and my mother is eligible for DAR.

Hi,

Moses Barrow brought a Bell with him to KY. The family story is that this Bell was passed down to the oldest Barrow male of each generation. It is rumored to have been in the family since England but most likely was purchased for the plantation. This Bell was supposed to be passed from Elzie Barrow, to Silas Barrow but Elzie did not have a will and Silas was in California. My father Silas is old and will not live long and has almost nothing from his legacy. I will pay $1000 neg. to retrieve this Bell so that I can give him something before he passes. It was lasy known to be with Alta Barrow's sons, a Mckinney? I would be so grateful for any information about this Bells whereabouts. Thank You!

The mysterious John 1609, Thomas 1640, and John 1643 Barrows

Has anyone solved the mystery of the connections between these Barrows? I am researching the line of John Barrow 1643, and would like to know if John Barrow 1609 England was possibly John 1643's father, and Thomas his brother. Also which one of them married Mary Blow (if any!). There is a lot of speculation out there, but I haven't found solid proof yet. Has anyone found the answers? Would love to hear from you if so, and share whatever I have found also. Thanks ahead of time! Stephanie
