Trying to find out about Luigi Gaggini who was an ice cream maker from Florence, born 1877. I believe he moved to Coventry, England and was married to Mary Anne b.1877. They had several children including another Luigi who married Florence Wilbur. There appears to be a name change to Pierotti? Does anyone know who Luigi's parents were? Why did Luigi come to Coventry,England to live? Mary ann's brother was William Casemore b. 1872 of Coventry.

Hi Pauline

This is a family name origianting in Luca Italy which is in the Tuscany region. There are several memebers of this family in Canada, mostly concentrated in Northern Ontario.

I have a cousin who has an extensive family tree showing the names of the early immigrants to Canada. I also know a few settled in USA--google mark olinda barsanti--this gentleman is an accomplished US soldier and he bears a striking resemblance to many men in the family.

Mark

We seem to have the same great great grand father. My great great grand father was Pietro Barsanti born around Ponte Coccia or Borgo or Vico and married a DaPrato (I do not know her first name) . Their daughter Caterina Barsanti married my great grand father Cherubino Zerbini (which I know nothing from his past) . cherubino (born in 186&) and Caterina had a son (my grand father) Eliseo Zerbini and also an other son Mario Zerbini married to Celeste Nenci and Costanza Zerbini married to Emilio Gaggini. Eliseo Z. then married Faustina Petrucci and my father Claudio was then born. Any information around these families would be appreciated. N.B. I have been to Vico and I took picture of all the cemeteries if you have a question, I might help. thank you. Lucie

Hi Greg: My great great aunt, (DaPrato) married a Barsanti in 1819? in Loppia and Pietro Barsanti said he was from the Borgo of Lucca (Borgo a Mozzano). Would your cousin do a look-up for me if I phone him? I have all the church records from Loppia but cannot find anything on descendents. I have been going to Loppia for the last five years and have made my tree back to 1600,s. We now have a new website., < Barga genealogy research group> and are photographing all the church records for Loppia, Barga, San Pietro in Campo and the surrounding villages. Any one doing research in that part of Tuscany and interested in joining our group should contact Brian Castine at the above website. May I hear from you? Jacqueline, Toronto

To all Barsanti board readers.
Very interesting to read all of the board. If this can help someone: my father Claude Zerbini (1922-1997) was born in Marseilles. His parents, Eliseo Zerbini (1898-1967) and Faustina Petrucci (1903-1986) were from Bagni di Lucca or Vico di Pancellorum. Eliseo was the son of Caterina Barsanti and Cherubino Zerbini. Faustina was the daughter of Adele Vitali and Pietro Petrucci. I know nothing else of Caterina Barsanti. I know Eliseo had at least 1 brother Mario and 1 sister Costanza. Any info would help. Eliseo and Faustina came to Canada in 1927. Also they were figuristi in Italy, France and Montreal.
Ciao!

Hi Jim: My ancestor DaPrato married Pietro Barsanti circa 1819 in Loppia near Barga, Province of Lucca in the Region of Tuscany. He stated he was born in Borgo di Lucca which to me is Borgo Mozzano. If your ancestor was a Figuristi I am quite sure he came from one of the mentioned town. He could also have been from Camaiore, Pietra Santa, Gavizzano, etc. My Husband is fluent in Italian and I do pretty well in the Italian language. Would it be possible to scanthe records you mentioned and maybe some thing will come out of that. Jacqueline, Toronto

Hi Lori,
My husband family is also from Lucca. They immigrated in the early 1900's and came to the American West coast then. We have a good size group of family members living in Northern California in a town called Rio Dell. There are over 100 family members when we get together and we have to rent the fire hall to accomadate as all!
We have had many family members visit Lucca in the last couple decades and they say it is a blast because half the town is Barsantis and they are very happy to welcome their american cousins.
We plan a trip in about 3 years to Lucca. If you would to correspond that would be fun. We have a family member doing our geneology as a retirement project and I can hook you up with her.
Ciao <grin> Shel Barsanti
Barsanti -- Lucca

Hi Jan,

I'm afraid I know very little about my great grandmother (Rosa Barsanti) as her last name first showed up in a professional search. I believe she would have been born around 1846. Her parents were Salvatore Barsanti and Camilla Giusti based on the marriage record.

Jim
Giovanni Francesco Barsanti

Dear Lori,
Did you family immigrate to California? There were some Barsanti's who lived in Humboldt ,Co., northern CA, who were unrelated to our Barsanti's. Some descendents of that line were Louis Barsanti who lives in Eureka, CA. Our Barsanti Family consisted of Frank & wife, Teresina Tognoli who lived in Scotia, Frank's sister Gelsomina, who married Egidioo Belloumini & I think Frank had a brother, Luigi, who lived for a time in Korbel, CA. Frank's children were my father, Angelo Joseph, & his siblings, Frank Jr. , who lived in Eureka, Louis Joseph, who lives in Rio Dell, and Nello Joseph who lived in Rio Dell, too. I don't know if this is helpful. I you have further question, please email me back. Barb Shumard

Barsanti Family

I am searching for information on Giovanni Francesco Barsanti and his wife Teresina Tognoli from Lucca. They came to Scotia, CA between 1901 & 1905. Frank's mother's last name was Casentini. Tersina's parents were Domenico Tognoli and Giaconda Tasi. They may have been from Firenza. If anyone cam shed any information about their siblings or descendents, please let me know. Shel Barsanti is my cousin's wife, so both of us would appreciate any info. Thank you.

Greg, we should make contact again. I just made contact with my second cousin, Pierluigi Barsanti, from borgo a mazzano. My grandfather, Jacob Tomei had a sister, Armida Tomei who married ? Barsanti. They had five children. Giuseppi had two sons Valerio and Pierluigi. Unfortunately, Valerio died at age 58 from liver cancer. Since he was very close to my age that was two years ago. I have Maddelena as my greatgrandmother but could be wrong.

DaPrato and Barsanti

Maria Teresa DaPrato, born 1799, Loppia, Barga, Lucca, Italy, married Pietro Barsanti, May 8, 1819, Loppia, Barga, Lucca, Italy. Pietro Barsanti was born in Borgo di Lucca, Italy. Because we cannot find descendents in the Barga area, we believe this couple might have gone to live in Borgo di Lucca...........Where is Borgo di Lucca and can anyone relate to the foregoing couple? Maria Teresa's parents were Giuseppe DaPrato and Annunziata Merrighi. and her grand parents were Luca Antonio DaPrato and Caterina Bertacchi. I hope someone can help me, Jacqueline, Toronto, Canada
