I have not run across those names, but will keep them around just in case I do. My Barsch family members are in Indiana around the mid 1800's, and my great-grandmother (maiden name Barsh) married a Freed. Their were other Barsh's around that area, but can't make the connection. Her mother was buried at sea on the way over from Germany, and I can't find out what happend to her dad. She lived with relatives around Daviess and Greene counties in Indiana, before getting married.

Thanks, Janice

Thanks so much for responding. After searching my records, I cannot find any of my relatives coming from the southern states. It appears that my direct ancestors naturalized and stayed in the midwest. I don't know if they are connected somehow.

Found your message on familyhistory.com. I too am descended from the Barsh line, my g.g.g.g. grandfather was Conrad Barsh, originally from Orangeburg, SC and later from Autauga County, AL. Several other Barsh men and women from Orangeburg about this time are presumed to be his brothers and sisters. He is probably the son of George Barsh, also of Orangeburg. Are you of this line of Barshes? Please feel free to e-mail me directly, or you can also check out our Barsh message site at this address:
http://genforum.genealogy.com/barsh/
Doug
