That posting was from a long time ago. I am not related to Nathan Rose Barteau. I was helping a lady who wanted to join DAR. We did manage to prove the illegitimate relationship but then found his father turned coat and went over to the British so had to find a different line. Thank you for your response.

Your post is from many years ago. Let me know if you still need info on Nathan Rose Bartow/Barteau. I am a direct descendant (maiden name of Barteau). His parents never married - Nathan was born out of wedlock. Nathan Rose Barteau was born 9 Apr 1758 in Orange or Brookhaven, Suffolk Co, NY and died 10 Sep 1824. I assume you've found that out by now.

Many of us cousins have searched for links for Frances/Francois and his ancestry in France, with no luck. What we think we know is that Frances arrived from Leiden, Holland in 1657 with his wife Mary/Marie. I have a full lineage from him to myself and much more material gathered by distant relations such as the other posters on this site.

We think Francois was a Hugeunot refugee so he probably left France with no record of his departure.

If you are in USA, Nantes, wich is in Loire atlantique, was one of the most importants ports during the 17e century, and was having lot of business with the USA. (Unfortunately tradind in slaves aswell).

This is very interesting. It appears that someone has been doing some census searching. Have you taken that route? It appears that there were many more in the family. The info I had was from the book about the Bartoo line (name and author escape me right now). But it is commonly available through many sources. Do you have that?

It lists the two children you mention, plus others. I'm trying to figure it all out - including another William Norris of the same time frame and location married to someone else!

Cheryl, You probably already have this information but my records show that William and Abigail Bartoo Norris had only two female children, Diana b. 1823, and Jane Amanda b. 1825.

Sally Louisa Bartoo, also a daughter of Jesse and Eunice Bartoo, married a Harry Bates and their first son was named Richard, born in 1829 in Greene, Chenango Co., NY.

Am seeking information on the children of Abigail (Bartoo) Norris/Morris, born 1807, daughter of Jesse and Eunice Bartoo. Abigail married William Norris or Morris in mid to late 1820s? I am would like to know if a Bradley Norris/Morris born 1833 in Chenango, NY is a son of Abigail and William.

Yes I think it is Harry C Barteau who married Dorothy Powell (Dot). They lived in Anaconda, Montana. I don't know their children names. They should be in 1930 Census.

In my husband's family, (very distant cousins):

Sidney Brewster Barteau/Stella Slosson married in Zumbrota, Minnesota. Moved to Anaconda about 1924-1927.

Children included Harry C. Barteau, born in Zumbrota, July 1892, who married "Dot" (surname unknown). Living in New York City in the late 1960's. Only one child is known, Stephen Barteau (nothing more known about him)

I have also found a Fnu Lnu in a family tree that I am researching. My Fnu Lnu was supposedly in Scotland in the 1500's or earlier. After looking for the name on message boards I am now thinking that it is an abbreviation for "first name unknown/Last name unknown".

I was wondering if you could help me out.
I am following my family tree and I am at Rueben Barto. He was born in 1755 and married a Judah Smith.
My heritage comes from him. He then had a son Jonah and he married Sally De Forest, and then had a son named Marshall who married Jennette Blakeslee, who had a son named Charles and married a Saraphene Barnes, who had many children, but my part is from Charlotte who married a Julius Kilmer, who then had a daugther named Theresa, who had my mother Charlotte, who know it comes down to me.
I was wondering if it would be possible if this Francis was the same person that was the father of my ancestory?

I'm looking for info on a Harry S Barteau who married one of my relative Ermina Dorothy Powell June 23, 1923 Butte Montana. Dorothy born Nov 28, 1896 was a teacher who meet Harry in Anaconda when she was a teacher.

He was born in Jefferson Co. Ohio and they married 22 Feb
1872 Bloom, Richland Co. Wisc. ( I suppose you have all

My Great grandfather is Oratio Nelson. DOB-2-13-1848, Died 4-10-31 in Richland Center. His headstone & death certificate has Orshia Nelson, and his wife's has Jannie Barto Dray(1853 - 1934) instead of Jennie. Will send you a photo of the headstone, if you wish. My great grand mother was Ozette Benoist and Grandfather John Barteau. I have their parents correctly: Ozette's father Michael and mother Julia. John's father Peter and mother Marie Helene. I need help with Michael Benoist father and mothers names and Peter Barteau's father and mother names. Date of b and when they died would also be helpful. Did they live in Florissant, Mo.?

There are two Elkanahs. One was born 2/18/1794 and was named Elkanah Grant Barto son of Morris Hannah Smith Barto. The second Elkanah was the son of the first born of his third marriage to Sarah Tooker. He was born 8/20/1866 and died 5/2/1932. Hope that helps. Lorraine Lenkevich

According to my great-aunt's notes, she lived from 1860-1966; she married Ernst Duchek (1868-1933) and they had at least one daughter - Pauline (Duchek) Pfaff (1897 or 1900-1945). Some of the family emigrated from Temesvar, Hungary in 1913. According to family legend, Magdeline was of French descent and did not fit in well with the Hungarian relatives.
I'm wondering if this links to anyone's family tree? So far my searches have come up empty-handed.

In researching my Vermont Perkins family, I came across an LDS Ancestral File listing a marriage between David Barteau and Clarinda Perkins of Hinesburgh, Vermont on 24 April 1849. Apparently the family ended up in Hersey, Osceolas County, Michigan. Can anyone tell me about Clarinda Perkins?
