Hello

Susan Bartee Satterwhite was my grandmothers Great Great Grandmother. Grandmother was Selah Birdwell Hollis married Seborn Reed in 1897 in Indian Territory in Ardmore, OK. If you could share the copy of the marriage information on Susan Bartee and Satterwhite I would like this information to add to my collection. My family tree is located on ancestry.com I have copies of letters where my grandmother was writing to relatives in reference to getting their roll number with the Cherokee. It is my understanding they failed to meet the dead line. Susan Bartee or sometime spelled Barto was mentioned in these letters. My grandmother named one of her daughters Barto Reed. I thought this to be interesting.

Over 19+ years of researching our Bartee's in the Chicago area and many related lines, we have now documented a span of more than 300 years in the U.S., Canada & Europe. We have Bibles, probates, letters, pictures, Census data, parish records, and a multitude of other supporting source documents that comprise about 16 volumes on this line.

We have the source information you requested from Virginia Hansen.

Brett, The names of your father and grandfather do not sound at all familiar to me; however, my father, William Bartee, feels that all Bartees are related somehow. Do you have any other names or dates? I know that there were some Bartees who were around in the late 1700's but we don't know all their names, or dates, one of my ancestors was Jessee Bartee, who married Sarah Harkleroad. I grew up in Kentucky and my parents and brother and sister still live there. The Bartees in Ky. came from North Carolina and Virginia, mostly. My father always said there usually were only 4 males in each generation, and you are right, it is scary to be the last.

Hi,

Many of us are looking for William Highley's parents. I have begun compiling a database of all Highley/Hiley individuals in the world. I'm not quite sure who William's parents were yet, but am getting closer. See www.rootsweb.com for my database and look under WorldConnect.

In Peachland, BC, there is a monument with Ned's name on it, having died in WWII. I have pictures of Thomas & Gracie's head stones in Peachland as well as pictures of their house. My father was 6 years old, attending school in Peachland. I obtained it from the museum this summer/06.
If you type in Elk Point, AB, you will find a write up on Les Bartee.
Hi,

I'd like to invite you all to also participate in the Bartee discussions going on at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bartee-gen

This is a free e-mail or online message group. In addition we have chats on Sat nites, or any other time two or more of us show up in our private chat room. We also have an area for posting files to share with each other (currently this area contains transcripts of our chats, Bartee census records, and more). We also have a "Wish List" section of books and documents we want to find.

To view all this, you must register with Yahoo!Groups and "join" the Bartee-gen group. Be sure to chose a user ID and password when you register. You will need this to "Sign-In" each time you visit Bartee-gen online.

I don't mean to make it sound difficult, just wanted to give you some idea of how it is done. If you have any problems "registering", "joining" or "signing-in" let me know at <LM@corridor.net> and I will help you.

Hope to see you there!

Linda M.

I don't know if this is the same family. My g.grandfather, James Barty was born in Fosdyke about 1814. I have been unable to trace siblings or parents. He married Sally Clarke in 1843. They brought up their family in Kirton Fen. The youngest son, born 1861, was William. Another son, John, my grandfather cut off all contact with his family and changed his name. i have his story. Would love to meet any other Barty family members. I live in Chesterfield.
