Bartek/Barteck family, Wilkes-Barre, PA

Hello,
I am looking for anyone who has information on Stephen Bartek (b. 1866/7) and his wife, Anna or Annie Margaret (b. 1872). I am having trouble finding them prior to the 1910 census. Part of the problem, of course, is the spelling of the name (it appeared as Barteck, Bartleki, and Barteki). Both of them immigrated to New York (around 1880 and 1885, respectively), had several children in NY State, then moved to PA around 1898-1900.

If anyone has more specific info on their births, deaths, or Anna's maiden name, I would greatly appreciate it. I recently joined Ancestry, so I am still trying to learn some of the tricks.

Camelia Bartek Keck was my great Aunt. Her sister, Veronika (Vera) Bartek Zetocha was my ggrandmother. I just posted a pic of her and her siblings (full). I also posted a pic of my ggrandmother's headstone. I just found where Cameilia is buried...Evergreen Cemetery in Omaha, NE.

My name is Barbara McMillan Rosenberg. Camelia Bartek Keck was my great aunt. Her sister, Veronika (Vera) was my ggrandmother. I just recently found a pic of her with her siblings and her grave stone, which I posted on Ancestry.com.

I have not heard of her having step-siblings. Who was their mother and when was she married to my gggrandfather, George or Jiri? They by the way were from Czechoslovakia.

Frieda Bartek was my second cousin and lived in Beatrice, Nebraska. My parents visited her family when I was little and her daughter and I were close to the same age. I haven't heard anything about the family in years but if you could tell me about your relationship to them, maybe I could find where her family is now.

There must be more then one Frank Bartek in Saunders County Nebraska because my greatgrandfather Frank Bartek was married to Magdeline Buresch and had 5 children:Frank Jr.(who died in Pearl Harbor),Joseph,Gabriel(my grandpa),Magdeline(who died in an accident at age 12) and Sally(Celestine).

I found your message interesting. I am doing researchon my grandfather Paul bartek who had a brother Stefan. Both were born in Slovakia. They immigrated to Chicago in the early l900.s. My grandfather Paul mariied Zuzanna Hluchy and had two sons, Paul Jr. and my father Emil John Hluchy. They lived their lives in Chicago.

Looking for ancestors of Stephan Bartek, born 26 Dec 1904 to Joseph and Josephina (Stepan) Bartek in Ford City, Armstrong, Pennsylvania. He married Marie Pufka abt 1929 and they ahd one daughter, my grandmother Arlene. He died in Cook County in Nov 1939. I, too, am looking to "fill the gaps" in my family tree. My grandfather's name was John Bartek and he married Zofi Kukla (both probably anglicized), both having immegrated srom Slovakia. We have always been told that grandpa had 2 bothers - Josef and Andrew - and 2 sisters Mary & Susan (no doubt anglicized.) My grandfather settled into the coal mines of central Pennsylvania. We have located a record of John & Zofi's marriage in Luzerne, Pennsylvania. On their children's birth certificates, the surname was spelled 3 different ways...Bartek, Barteck, and Bartic. Leads me to believe that my grandparents were illiterate and thus unable to tell the officials how to correctly spell their surname. Anyone who has info or has questions, please email me.

I am searching for descendants of Cyril and Maria Bartek. Maria's (or Marianna) maiden name was Micutka; she was born 1867 in Makov, Slovakia, and was the sister of my great-grandfather. Cyril and Maria immigrated to New York prob. 1890s, lived there for a while I think, and then apparently settled in Willington, CT. Children: Maria, Jennie (married George Bagala), Theresa, Josephine, and Frances, all born btwn 1895 and 1910.

Thank you for the information. Is there a Veronica or Sid anywhere in the history? Do you know where George, Julia, Andrew, Sylvester, Frank, Joe, Jake are from??? What's your Mom's name?

The information we got about Camilla was from Andrew John Bartek's second wife, Lenora. The first wife's name was Frieda Linsenmeyer Bartek, who died in a car accident in the 1950's. He then married Lenora.He died in 1975, although there is no records other than the death and baptismal papers we have. He was a railroad engineer, and I am guessing their social security information is different somehow. I can't find anything on his ever being born or died, other than what I have.

Any further information you would share would be greatly appreciated.

My husband is Matt. He doesn't know the plot number at the cemetery, but says it is pretty close to the front. There are about 8 plots there; David (Matt's younger brother who died when he was a baby), and AJ and Freida.

Are you related to them???

Mike married Kathy and they have 4 kids I think (I'm Matt's 2nd wife and have never met any of these folks). He, Mike, is a chiropractor and I think Kathy is or was a nurse and does a lot of volunteer work.

Mike and his wife, Terry (?) have 1 daughter and live in Nevada. He is a surveyor.

Mark and his wife, Deeda, have 2 daughters and live here in TX. He is in a management position in the tire business (I think, not sure).

Matt and his former wife, Deborah, have 4 kids; 3 sons and a daughter. He also has 2 grandchildren by child #2. He and I don't have any children. We have been together 13 years.

How are you related???

My husband is one of four sons of Lowell Bartek.
Evergreen is the cemetery by the old state home and that's where they are both buried, side by side.
AJ only had a family bible (whereabouts unknown).
AJ died in Marysville, Kansas.

She is buried in Beatrice NE next to Andrew John Bartek. She is in the city cemetery. I have info about his second wife if you need it as well. She is still living, and is in her 80s.

AJ and Frieda Bartek's daughter's name is Marcia Kaye (Bartek) Benner. She has one sibling named Lowell Bartek. AJ & Frieda were my grandparents. both of AJ's children are still living.

AJ died of a heart attack.

Frieda died in a car accident after sustaining a broken neck from being thrown from the car when my mother was approximately 17yrs old.

I do have an Uncle George Linsenmeyer who is buried in Wymore NE.

Would the city cemetery where AJ and Frieda are buried be the Evergreen Cemetery?

Where can I look up the death and baptismal papers?

I know Mike married Terry and Tom married Kathyrn and I think runs a business in Falls City, NE, so that leaves Matt or Mark?

I don't know if the boys would remember me or not but I remember watching Mark play baseball and spending alot of time at Lowell and "Cricket's" house. I have a picture with my brother and I and Lowell's sons either in their yard or at Lenora's house in Marysville. I also remember Lowell delivering the mail.

My mother is Marcia, Lowell's sister. That makes me Lowell and Wilma's niece. My family moved back to Beatrice after AJ died and I can't tell you how many years it's been since I've seen Lenora. I moved from Beatrice approximately 11yrs ago and now live in Indiana. My brother Bill lives in IA but works in Omaha. If you'd like to contact me directly my e-mail is stillwaterssb@hotmail.com. There are several Bartek's in Bell County, Temple Texas. Some older Bartek's, with the name of Johnny, out in Oenaville, although I don't think this is the exact one you are looking for but they might be able to help you in your search.

There was a Andrew John Bartek born 11-30-10 in Valparasio, Saunders, NE. His parents were George (NMN) and Veronica (Tomes) Bartek. George was born in 1860, Veronica 1870. Could these people be related to you? I am researching the Bartek family.

I am looking for my great grandfather who settled in Luzerne Pa his name was John Bartek and was born in Austria 1 June 1868. He married Zofi (sophia) Kukla on the 2 April 1890. She was born in Austria 1 January 1872. Her father gave consent to marry his name was John Kukla. John Bartek was a coal minner. In 1910 the family moved to Cambria where my great grandmother died giving birth to her last child.

Joseph B. Bartek, Sr., & Mary (Kovarik) Bartek, had at least 12 children, possibly 13, that I am aware of. The children were: Jaroslav, Joseph B, Jr., John, Charles G., Josie, Emma, Frank E., Mary, Rudolph (Ralph) F., Henry, Phebe, Ludmilla and William.
Frank E. Bartek was married to Annie Fidler and had 6 children that I've found so far. They are: Charles, Milo, Edward, Leonard, Rose and Lorraine. If you need more information or would like dates, spouses and children, please let me know.

Hi Charlotte, This is what I know about my Aunt Camilla Bartek's family. I can get more information from my mother. Camilla had a brother George, sisters Julia, Anna and Vera(not sure about the name Vera.) She had half-brothers Andrew, Sylvester, Julius and half-sister Emma. They shared the same father. She also had step sister Molly (my grandmother), and step-brothers Frank, Joe and Jake. Camilla's father married their mother. Of course they are all gone now except the wife of Julius and she is very elderly and not well.
