The book "Die Einwohner von Wadrill und Sitzerath vor 1850 by Klauck

While looking for information on my ancestor Matthias Barten I came across this site. The information that I have has a footnote that says Family #60 in the Family book for Wadrill. I wonder if you would be able to check your copy of the book to see is this Matthias Barten son of Lucas and Maria Elisabeth Blasius. Matthias is married to Angelika Streng. If this is the right family would it be possible for you to copy the page for me. I would be so grateful. Thank you so much.

i know of your father. I believe his father was Walter Barth. If so, Walter Barth was my fathers brother. His name was Helmuth Barth. His father was Wilheim Freidrich (Fritz)Barth who married Minna Gruen. Their children were Otto, Walter, Cora, Annie, Herbert, and Helmuth all of which are deceased. I vaguely remember meeting some of Walter Barth's decendents when I was very young. Your father's name I remember. Most of Walter Barth's decendents live in or about San Antonio. I still live on the original Fritz Barth homestead in Comfort, Texas. Feel free to email me at diamondbrnch@hctc.net. my name is Emily Barth Campeau

Joseph Barth - b. abt 1879 but where?

My husband's grandmother was Carolyn Barth b 1920 in Chicago. Carolyn married Harry Owen in Chicago in 1940.

I think her parents were Joseph and Josephine Reinhardt Barth. However, tracking them through the census they say they in 1930 they are from Austria, in 1920 they are from Yugo-slavia and in 1910 that they are from Hungary. However, if the Joseph Barth that I found coming through Ellis Island is the correct one, he said he was Swiss. Also, the 1910 census shows they came in two years apart, but he got married almost as soon as he came through Ellis Island. He also says he was in Pennsylvania from 1892-1900. Anyway, Joseph Barth eventually ended up in Chicago and worked as a barber, as did two of his sons. Any help with this line is much appreciated. I haven't had one this entertaining in a long while.

Mis spelling. I have seen that in my family. Before most people could read and write other people had to spell their names such as a judge in a court. He would spell a name the way it sounded. I have seen one of my family names spelled Hoditch, Houlditch, Holditch? Pruitt Prewitt.

I apologize for not getting back with you sooner. I am writing a Barth Family History book, researching first the main line of Barth families in Nassau, Germany; New Orleans, LA; Parkville, MO; Kansas City, MO; Denver, CO; and their extended families reaching all across the U.S. Henry BARTH was the son of George & Mina (CRASS) Barth. Henry died 08-18-1912 in New Orleans. His wife Francisca/Frances (MENGES) Barth d. 10 Dec 1906. Their dau. Emma Appoloma Barth (b. 07-25-1862) married Charles F. BRANDT (b. abt. 1857) on 11-20-1888 in New Orleans. Emma (Barth) Brandt of New Orleans took care of her dying Uncle William BARTH in Denver. William Barth was born 12-08-1829 in Dietz, Nassau, Germany, and died 12-25-1914 in Denver. William Barth's siblings were Charles J. Barth, Henry M. Barth, Moritz Barth, Emilie (Barth) KOLLMANN, Rosa Theresa (Barth) HAAG, and Wilhelmina (Barth) LONG. If I find anything that connects this Barth family with your Barths, I will certainly contact you. You indicated your Barth family arrived in U.S. in 1881. The Barths that I am researching arrived in early 1850's at New Orleans. I have only recently discovered the existence of Henry Barth in New Orleans. That was a very pleasant surprise. Hope we find more surprises in our Barth adventure.

Hello again,it.s me.Mr.Derlin Gerard clair, the Great-Great Grandson of Mr.Henry(Heinrich)Barth, who was born circa 183in Germany, perhaps in Baden-Baden,dear people. He was married to Margaret Barth(no Maiden Name found),also from Germany, born c.1834.They had only one child that I know of,a son named Emil who was my Paternal Great Grandfather, and who seems to have been born c.Sept.1862,also in Germany, perhaps in Baden-Baden.One of the children that he had with the German lady that he married,Miss Lena Klein, was a daughter named Frances, just like the wife of the Henry Barth in the E-Mail which you had sent me under the title"descendantKS"Perhaps the other Henry Barth that you had mentioned was a brother or at least maybe a cousin to the Henry(Heinrich)Barth who was my Great-Great Grandfather. And perhaps, his daughter Frances was named after the other Henry Barth,s wife, who was also named Frances.Anyway,my Barth family as I had said before.seems to have immigrated in 1881,because an Immigration Record from Antwerp,Belgium, mentions them as being passengers on the German ship"Wahlesland"in the year 1881.Just like your Henry Barth,s family, they too settled in New Orleans,in the Bywater section which came to be called"Le Faubourg des Allemans"-The Surburb of the Germans, because so many German families settled in that part of the city.Emile married my Great Grandmother Lena Klein probably sometime in 1891,since their first child,a daughter named Alma was born May 30,1892,dear people. Please contact me at E-Mail:derlinclair@yahoo.com.Thank you for your precious time, and may God bless you& keep you healthy. Sincerely,Mr.Derlin G.Clair P.S.Lena Klein was married before Emile Barth to a gentleman named Jacob Zimmermann, also of German descent, and also in New Orleans, where is where she married Emil as well.

Dear people, Hello,Im,m Mr.Derlin Gerard Clair.I,m the Great Great Grandson of a Mr.Henry(Heinrich)Barth, who was born circa 1832 in Germany, perhaps in Baden-Baden.He was married to a Margaret(never found her Maiden Name),and they had at least one child,a son named Emile, born Sept.1862 also in Germany. It seems lke they probably immigrated to America in the year 1881,and settled in New Orleans,in a downtown area named"Bywater".I believe that Henry may have been a blacksmith.A person calling theirself"DescendantKS" had sent me an E-Mail at the start of this month about a Henry Barth, age 48,a blacksmith in the 1880 Census,New Orleans,b.Nassau,Germany abt.1832.However,this Henry Barth,s wife,s name was Frances(Menges),not Margaret. And she was 45.B.Bavaria.Had 2 daughters,Emma Barth ,age 18and Frances Barthb.Dec,10,1906.Contact me at E-Mail:derlinclair@yahoo.com

She married August Meyer in 1854 and they had the following children in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin: Bernadine (later re-christened Mary Armella, in a Racine Convent), Mary (married John Knopf), Margaret (married Charles Dedi), and Joseph (married Magdalena Klein). Any info. on this family is appreciated. Margaretha was widowed and later married Nicholas Mosel. Margaretha is buried at Calvary Cemetery, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She died in 1918. I am also searching for descendants of this family. I am a descendant and would like to network. Thanks.

Hello,
I also have a Barth in my ancestry. The name Barth/Bart is of Hebrew origin. Short for Berthold (Bertold), Bartholomew (Bahl); in some cases from Barth, Pomerania. Transl. of German Bart "beard" are Broda (Russ.), Brad (Czech.), Broda (Pol.) Szakall (Hung.) Dim. Bartel (but also from Bartel (Pol. Wigusz), village in Memel district, cf. Vigushin); patr. Bartels, Bartenstein, Barter, Bartesco, Bartfeld, Bartkovitz, Bartky. This info. is found in the reference book, Jewish Family Names & Their Origins An Etymological Dictionary by Heinrich W. Guggenheimer and Eva H. Guggenheimer.
ironduck2003

I am searching for information on Magdalena KLEIN, buried in Calvary Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI. She was born about
1820-1830 in Prussia (?). She is buried next to my ggg.grandmother, Margaretha (Barth) Mosel, b. 1824 in Prussia. I am guessing at this point, the two women were sisters, but have no further information at this time. Margaretha Barth married August Meyer and was widowed. She then married Nickolas Mosel. In the cemetery lot, Margaretha's son, Joseph Meyer is buried, next to his wife Magdalena Meyer. There are other Meyer family members in this cemetery section.
Any information on Magdalena or Margaretha is appreciated. Thanks so much!

His father (Charles Fredrich) was born in Germany and was one of 8+ siblings, most of whom came to the US in the late 1800's to early 1900's. We think that Charles's father or grandfather was a bookbinder in Englefingin.

If you think this could help us both, let me know ! Laney

I apologize for not seeing your message before. I have traced back several generations of ancestors of Agnes Barth (born 25 Jun 1795 in Schopfloch, Wuerttemberg, Germany) and Johann Georg Lude (born 31 Mar 1802 there). Their son Michael was born 5 Oct 1828 there, so I assume that this was indeed the family of your interest, despite the slightly different given names. I am descended from Michael's sister Rosina, born 18 Dec 1829.

John M. McKinley

Call for Barth DNA Testing

I have just gotten my DNA (Y-46) test back from Ancestry. Unfortunately, my most recent common ancestor is about 15+ generations away from me and does not even share the name. I am confident that there are some common ancestors within this board. If you have ever thought about having your DNA tested, now is a good time. Ancestry is running a 50% off special on testing until October 31 (about $100 for Y-46 test). It does not require a blood test, just some swabs inside the cheek. The paternal test is only useful for males with the Barth name. That can be yourself or a male relative with the Barth name. My Barth's came from Germany and lived in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and West Virginia. The name was also somtimes spelled Baird. I would be interested to find any relatives and would be more than happy to share my research. I'm looking forward to making some connections.

Darrin Barth
Hiram, Georgia

I am searching for my mother's mother's faminly information.

My grandmother was Barbara Barth, she died in a train car wreck when my mother was very young. My mother was the 3rd of 4 children that Barbara had with Harold Alton Mouncey, her husband. She was pregnant with her 5th child. The family was living in NH when she was killed, in Pike NH. Harold re-married later to another woman named Barbara, which my mother and her siblings have always know as the mother since they were all very young when the wreck occured. Barbara (Barth) Mouncey was killed but the children were all taken to the hospital and were treated but released to their father Harold who was not in the car with them. This all took placce on July 9, 1948.

If there is anyone looking for BARTH family information who has come across any information on this Barbara Barth Mouncey, please let me know.
