My family heritage has been traced back to England. (There may have been other Bartley's who came from other countries.)
The original Bartley's who came to America were 3 brothers. They landed in NC, where one brother settled. One of the remaining two went to TN and settled. The other went to GA and settled. The brother who settled in GA owned a plantation and was very wealthy. After the Civil War his slaves took the name Bartley's.
