I am going to try and see if there might be somethig to help each other on. Seems this surname is not very active. The Bartmess I have, Nancy, was born in Ohio and she married a Francis, who was born and died in Washington County, Ohio. All I have in her is that she was born approx. 1842 and her husband's dates are 1835 to 1893. I know this is not much but it is all I have. My email is john@smokingbluegrass.com

John

Batmess and Curtner in Ohio

Hello, I'm researching my Bartmess connection to the Curtner line.

Harriet Bartmess, daughter of Phillip and Jane Bartmess (PA) married John Curtner Jr. born in NC. The lived in Randolph Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. Their oldest son was born in 1837 so I only can assume they married ca. 1836. I can't find their marriage date.

Harriet died 19 Feb. 1847, Montgomery County, Ohio.
I would like to find more on this Bartmess line. I don't know Harriet's Mother's Surname or what location Phillip came from in PA or any other connections.

I can mmake assumptions, but would like more accurate information.I hope someone can help with this line.

Thanks, Tom Curtner

I do have our Bartmess Family Tree that was done by my Uncle Jerry Bartmess. But, I do not have it on line. You might want to check Matthew Bartmess, who has his Bartmess Family Tree on line with Family Tree Maker. His Bartmess Family tree split from mine way back, but he has some of my Uncle Jerry's information in his.
Mine starts with Johann Peter Barthmes from Wahlenau, Germany.(ca 1700) My Father was born and grew up in Marietta, Washington County Ohio. So we are the Bartmess Family that were from Ohio.
Nancy (Bartmess) Hunter

Hello everyone. Sorry I forgot to add my e-mail address and haven't checked the message board since Dec. Since I woote the last message, I have been able to trace my Bartmess line back to Hans Johannes Barthelmes. He was born in 1560 in Germany and died in 1620. I did this with the help of the Bartmess Family Association and a website with all the info I needed. The Bartmess Family Assoc. will be having a family reunion this year in Nevada. Anyone who is interested can write me and I'll send them the info they need via e-mail. Or, if you need the info I got off the Bartmess website, just let me know. Regards, Norma

I have some information on the Bartimus family that
came from Mackburg Ohio from the early/mid 1900's.
I believe that there was a Hugh who was my great
uncle. I visited Mackburg two years ago and found
some entries in the record books (most now missing)
that refered to Hugh Bartimus, and also one for
my great grand mother. She and my great grandfather
lived in Marietta Ohio when they passed away
in the 1940's.

Would share what info I have if you can give me
some dates and/or names?

Gary Bartimus
