My grandfather, Rudolph John Bartol, was born in Thieste, which at one time was in Slovenia. He was born 1888 and arrived in the US at the age of 19 (1907). I have been looking for years for relatives.His father was John and Mother was Dorotea.

Robert Bartol, son of George and Mary (Bayless) Bartol, natives of Hartford County, Md., was born December 23, 1814, in Hartford County, Md. He remained with his parents until he was sixteen years of age, when he learned the tanner’s trade in Baltimore. He moved to York County, Penn., in 1834, and bought a farm of 136 acres, which he has since cultivated in connection with tanning. He was married in 1841 to Mary Kurtz, who died in 1864. His second marriage was in 1871 to Mary Quinlan, daughter of Philip and Mary Quinlan, of Hartford County, Md. He had twelve children, ten of whom are living: Sarah, George, James, Robert, Charles, Mary E., John, Corinne M., Nathaniel, Robert, Imogene and Joseph. Mr. Bartol has held several prominent school positions in the Township. He is a brother of Judge Bartol, chief justice of the court of appeals of Maryland.

Robert Bartol

Their marriage was blessed with the following children 1830-1850; William Edward, Timothy Littleton, John Robert, Harriett Elizabeth, Henry Martyn, Albert BAYLESS, George KEEN. William m Louisa BOYD and Geroge KEEN m Margaret A. WARDEN. Do not have information at this time regarding the rest of the children and their spouses. Sophie [Kryzenski] (Bartol) Lashock, age 88, of Princeton, WI, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2001, at the Sunnyview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Princeton. She was born on February 2, 1913 in the Township of Mecan, Marquette Co., the daughter of Michael and Martha (Kryzenski) Bartol. She married Sylvester Lashock on May 27, 1941 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton.
Sophie is survived by two nieces, Alice (Rueben) Nighbor of Princeton, and Jackie (Larry) Frericks of Janesville, three great-nieces, Sharon, Janice, and Tara, six great-nephews, Warren, Allen, Dennis, Joel, Arron, and Joshua; seven great-great nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Beverly Lashock of Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Thomas and Clifford, daughter Mary Ann.

I am researching my family and it includes the Peter Bartol family which I have no information on. I believe they lived in Cudahy and owned a business there. Peter Bartol married Franci(e)s Gizela (Gizella etc) on the 25th of October 1904. The Gizella family was from Berlin Wi and was the family of my Grandfather. Hi Bartol family!
Recently I purchased a group of pictures from ebay. In them were quite a few pictures of a Mrs. Harry Bartol and her son Harry jr. circa 1909 thru maybe 1920's. There are a few family shots with 3 children, I'm assuming Harry jr. to be the oldest. These are very nice. I feel bad that they haven't gone to a family member. I am looking for information on my great grandfather, Paul B. Barthol (Bartol). His death certificate list WI (Princton) as his place of birth in <1867>. He moved to Minnesota and was married to Margaret Best. Does any of this sound familiar? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think they were that far south of Massachusetts.
The Paynes being from New Bedford, MA, and the Bartols
from Marblehead, MA. Charles E. Payne was son of
Emma A. Dexter. Other names of Marblehead in family
Doliber, Best.

In our family line, there was a Payne-Bartol marriage. The woman was Cora? Cory? Cara? Bartol, sister to Aquilla McDonald Bartol [1849-1927]

There is a Grove (Bartol ancestry) and Payne family cemetary located in New Park PA. I have pictures of some Payne Headstones as possible relatives. New Park is very close to the MD boarder within 5 miles or so.

Could this be a connection?

My Grandfather (listed above) died at the age of 100 in the early 1960's. He came from northern Wis. Worked at Ashland, Wis. as a young man. Married Agnes Bukowski. He had an Uncle Pete Bartol who owned a restaurant in Milwaukee. Many of his relatives are buried in Green Lake County where they were pioneers.
