THE ILLUSTRATED BUFFALO EXPRESS
FOUR GENERATIONS. MRS. WILHELMINA BARTZ AND DESCENDANTS.
FOUR GENERATIONS.
To few families does it happen to have four generatons
living at the same time. Our picture today presents a
family group ranging from great-grandmother to her third
??nest descendant on the female side. All four persons
are residents of Buffalo.
The oldest person in the picture is Mrs. Wilehlmina Ost/
Ozt Bartz, ages 90 years. Mrs. Bartz is the daughter of
Wilhelm Ozt/Ost, a German musician, who was director of the
famous Ozt/Ost orchestra of New Ste?tin, Germany. The Ost
family was noted for its musical ability. The sons and one
daughter were members of the orchestra, which was the
leading musical organization in that part of Germany. Mrs.
Bartz came to Buffalo from Germany in 1887/67, arriving
here on July 11th, after a voyage of five weeks. She is in
excellent health. Her eyesight is so good that she can
read without the aid of eyeglasses.
Next comes Mrs. Caroline Janner, wife of Frederick Janner,
the only daughter of Mrs. Bartz.
Next is Mrs. J. Thomas Harp, oldest daughter of Caroline
Janner.
The youngest is Miss Augusta Wilhelmina Harp, only daughter of Mrs. Harp.

Coroner Tucker has postponed the inquest on the death of
Frederick Bartz, who was killed July 7th by a Michigan
Central train at Forest Avenue, until Monday at 9am.
Think this could be the correct Frederick Bartz as he is not with the
family in the 1892 NY state census.
