Here's the url you requested:

My sister is traveling to Lucky Lake Saskatchewan this summer and we would like to find where Florence is buried. If you have any idea at all where I could start, it would be appreciated. I have exhausted all on-line resources. My last resort would be to have someone at the Regina Sask. library do some research. I live in Pennsylvania USA.

http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/4770554/family/familygroup?fp...

I think we are on the right track as their are too many familiar names. I have a subscription to Ancestry.com, but I can't find the list of Florence's siblings that you spoke of.

Could you send me a link or URL to where I might find the list

I know that their mother re-married to a C. Albert 'Daddy' Baron.

I would be very thankful for any information you can supply.

Hello: I think your grandmother is my grandmother's sister. My grandmother was Florence Bartzen who was married to Rush Knauff. They had 2 children (which, I believe were born near Lucky Lake Saskatchewan): Algott and Lloyd Knauff. My grandmother was born about 1902 and died in 1924 at the age of 22 years. Accordingly to a contributor in Ancestry.com, my grandmother, Florence, died in Lucky Lake. I have a list of Florence's siblings from Ancestry.com if you don't have a membership. Thank you.

The Peter Bartzen I am looking for was married to a Cathrine Meizern Their daughter (my Grandmother) was Anna Methaleen Bartzen. I know she (Anna) had several brothers & sisters. They were Falora, Katie, John/Jahe & Henry. The brother named Jake had a farm in Saskatchewan, Canada . Jake was married to a Dora Belle Hart. Dora's brother came up from Centralia, IL to work on Jake's & Dora's farm. While there he met & married Jake's sister Anna. Hence My Grandparents (Alonzo & Anna Hart).

I took a look at the board you had up and was pleasantly surprised to see the many similarities. My great, great, grandfather was Peter Bartzen who was an immigrant from Germany. He was and still is for the purposes of history, well known in Chicago/Illinois where he also lived. He was from a large family which I also know that due to certain circumstances, is pretty wide spread and many of them neither I nor my Father/Grandfather have ever met. My Uncle did something similar to this and found a cousin in N. Carolina a few years back who I believe her mother had moved from Wisconsin. There's a lot more to the story then that in fact quite detailed, if this sounds close to what you are looking for then please email me and maybe I can help put some of the pieces to this puzzle together for you!

Sincerely,
Jeanice Bartzen
My grandfather was Walter Bartzen and he died in the early 80S. I'm pretty sure it was 1981. Walter's other two children are Jim and Pauline. Jim's son Josh also has a son named Peter Bartzen. This is very interesting and I am intrigued by the family tree.

On my mothers side we have a Bartzen line. Katharina Schetter from Groev, near Koblenz, married a Joesph Bartzen. They were married in 1851, and he died in 1869. She came to Sheboygan in 1873. She came over with six children. Katharina died in 1906, and is burrried in the Catholic cemetery in Sheboygan.

Dear Maureen:

Yes, the locations you mentioned are in the same general vacinity as my relatives (mostly from Suelm, Germany). I would very much like to share what I have and will gratefully accept your offer of shared material as well. I believe the earliest Bartzen/Roth relationship I've been able to establish is the early 1700s. Hopefully you can take it back even further. I will await word from you.

Thanks,

Steve

Bartzen - Roth names in Olk, Idesheim, Germany

I have identified two Bartzen relatives living in western Germany in or around Olk and Idesheim. One was Agnes Bartzen, who was born in Olk about 1740. The other was her father, Johan Bernard Bartzen, who was born in Idesheim about the year 1710. Johan married Elisabeth Weber and their daughter Agnes married Theodor Roth. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with connections to these family members.

I'd be interesting in contacting John Rosenthal, as I suspect we may have information to exchange.

My ancestors are as follows:

Susanna Arl: 10.Dec 1829 (Reil) - 22 Dec 1909 (Chicago)

Her Parents were:
Mathias Josef Arl: 25 Mar 1796 - ca 1850 (Reil)
Anna Maria Bauer: 12 Dec 1799 -

Anna Maria Bauer's parents:
Anna Barbara Scherer: 14 Aug 1717 - 27 Dec 1761 (reil)
Heinrich Schweisthal: 9 Dec 1709 - 30 Jan 1787 (Reil)

Anna Scherer's parents:
Caspar Scherer: 25 jan 1685 - 4 Nov 1741 (reil)
Anna Margaretha Annen: 6 Jan 1695 - ?
(married 12. Jan 1711

Anna Margaretha Annen's parents:
Johann Annen d 20 Feb 1695
Elisabeth Breitbach: 22 Jun 1660 - 19 Aug 1736

Elisabeth Brietbach's parents:
Anna Simon
Johann Breitbach

I sort of wonder if there are some common branches on our family trees given the number of similar names.

Interestingly, in the US, Susanna Arl married a Nicholas Bartzen. However, he was not from Reil, but rather, from Schleidweiler.
Please e-mail me at creticospoulos@pol.net so we can compare notes.

Thanks

Harry Poulos

One branch of my family originated in Reil. Susanna Arl from Reil married a Nicholas Bartzen, but this occurred in Chicago and he was from Schleidweiler. If your Reil family names include Arl, Bauer, Filzen, Niedhoeffer, Scherer, or Schweisthal, please let me know.
Chris,

Thank you, but the Peter and Catherine I am looking for came from Germany so I assume they were married in Germany too.

I found a Peter Bartzen in the 1880 Wisconsin census married to a Kate "could be (Katherine)" with six children. One of the children is named John, and I am almost certain Grandmother "Anna" had a brother named John & they had an "Anna". I am positive she had a brother named "Jake" as he was married to my Grandfather’s sister Dora "Hart" Bartzen.

As you probably know the age of the household members was NOT listed in the 1880 census, but "Anna" my "Grandmother", always claimed to be born in 1899 which leads me to believe - this is not the right Peter Barzten :-)

If you have any other ideas - please pass them on.

Thank you,

Dale

My grandfather was Bernard J. Bartzen and lived in Butte, Montana. He had two brothers (Ed & Joe) and three sisters (Lucille, Esther & Olivia) that lived in Butte, Anaconda, and Great Falls, MT. My grandfather was electrocuted while working at Montana Power. He lost a leg and all toes on the the other foot. We traveled to Sheyboygan several times in the 50's to visit relatives. Please contact me as I have begun to develop a family tree. I am just in the initial stages. I could research the Montana data and hopefully you could provide input from Wisconsin.

I am researching the line of Peter Bartzen from Kroev Germany to the Town of Sheboygan Wisconsin. He and his wife Catharine had 11 children survive childhood. Half went to Montana and the other half stayed in Sheboygan County Wisconsin. Hoping to find relatives in the Montana area to help with the genealogy of those Bartzen children who went there. Willing to share Wisconsin info.

One of my Peter Bartzen's was born 26 Feb 1823 in Kroev Germany. His son Peter was born 8 Sept 1857. Both of them lived in Sheboygan County Wisconsin and they both also died there. How far back do you have your Bartzens? My Peter's father was Andreas Bartzen and his mother was Susanna Beeth.
