You can start playing that funny banjo music now!! Our mother, (Janet Marie Bascom) was a NY socialite Bascom (Father, Henry Melvin Bascom); our father,(Robert W. Cowles Bascom) was from upstate NY-a supreme court justice under Rockefeller; his father was Judge Wyman Bascom from Fort Edward, NY and his father was Atty Robert O. Bascom of Fort Edward. We have tree traced back to King Richard 111, and aside from the fact that we are cousins to our own parents, we are cousins in some way to Princess Diana's family-still trying to find the book with that info in it. Family arrived here in Connecticut in 1630 on the ship,
William Mary - i.e., Thomas Bascom I. I have lots of info, but just found this site tonight while browsing, so if anyone wants any other info, I'll get the papers out and keep them handy. (I'm in Michigan-Linda) and my sister Debbie is in Florida. I don't re-
cognize any of the names I just read on the message board-I know there are 4 Linda Bascom's - one being in Vermont-her engagement notice and mine were in the same paper at the same time-39 years ago-pretty strange. I know there is one in Calif. We are also related to the Bascoms in L.A., Calif. with the Shell Oil Company and the founder of the University of Wisconsin, John Bascom. Well, hope this rings some bells for some of you folks-it would be great fun!
