Hello! I think that William Henry Basel is the brother of my great-great Grandmother, Mary Della Basel Ehresman. There were also two other sisters, Elizabeth and Cinnora (Nora). Parents are Henry and Catherine Basel, who were born in Germany in the 1820's. I have the exact dates in the other room. I was just at the Zion Cemetary in Fiatt the other day to get exact dates on Mary Della's birth and death. Henry and Catherine were from Bavaria (in Germany). I really don't have much on William Henry, but I do have a picture of him if you need one. I would be interested in any information you would have also.

II have tried to email addresses for you but they bounced. So I will try to contact you this way.

My wife's grandfather was Louis William Freund and his father was Joseph H Freund and Anna Marie. Louis' Known siblings were, Elizabeth, Katherine, Nicolas and Mathida.

Louis was born in Springfield, Illinois. Joseph & Anna Marie died and are buried in Seattle. Elizabeth married a Basel and had about ten children. We do not have a lot of information about the Basel's but can supply a lot of info on descendants of Louis and some info on Joseph & Anna. Have pictures.

Bonnie, have you checked Census records to see what they say for place of birth? My Basels said Bohemia. It might narrow down the search. Look at all of them. Some might say Germany, but one of them might be more specific. Also have you checked church records where the immigrant lived? It might give the place in Germany. Also immigration records. I am researching the Joseph Basel family. He emigrated from Donau, Germany now Czech Rep. Lived in WI. Married Theresia Augustin and had 11 children. Have traced them down to present except for Peter Basel born Sep 1870; disappeared after the 1900 Census. Any information would be appreciated.

Wolfgang Possl and Margaretha Wellner married 19 May 1813 in Kaltenbrunn, Bohemia. Their children were Katharina 1814, Anna Maria 1816, Wolfgang 1818 (died young), Wolfgang 1820 (died young), Theresia 1821, Barbara 1824, Wolfgang 1827, and Joseph 1832. To my knowledge only Joseph came to US. The name was apparently changed in this country to Basel. He came to WI with a group from neighboring villages. Where have you searched for info on your relative? I am at harriet@rockford.com.

I am looking for any information on my boyfriends family. His father's name is Everett (Ev) Basel...Ev's parents were Elsie and Everett Basel. Ev was an only child and is turning 75 July 31st. If anyone has any information please let me know. Most of the family information died with Elsie this past spring...she was 101 years old.

Do you happen to have any information on a John Basel who came to the USA from Austria - Hungary c1880's? He married Mary Straus (it was an arranged marriage), and had 4 children (including my Grandfather John Joseph). His brother, Joseph, came to America before him.

Would appreciate commuication with the authors, Georgia and Angelia, as we are related as cousins "removed".
I have confusing and conflicting information on where Grant Basel was born. My grandfather, Grant's brother, stated Grant was born in Iowa, but the cemetery in Oregon where Grant was buried, inscribed that he was born in Missouri, both have the correct dates. This correct knowledge would limit time spent in incorrect locality research for my genealogy research on the Basel line. Thank you very much, Lorraine.

Michael, when did your family reach New York, approximately? Do you have any records, census for the Minnesota years and when is your oldest date for that area. Minnesota is where my Basel's settled, before large group moved to the west coast>Oregan and Washinton states. I am in Wa. state and my Basel's arrived here around 1897. I also heard we had the town of Basel/Basel
named after a relative. My great Uncle (more like an uncle- since grandparents were part-time parents, that he had the papers to prove it. I was a kid, never saw the papers. I do not know his validity, but he was Washington State's Game (wildlife) Commissioner for a term. Before talking to you, I did not have a clue where to start checking in Illinois, and you are right, Basel is hard to find, and they seem not to be too family oriented or least not in the group on the West Coast. Linda, recently an Angela Basel contacted me. She is in Georgia (she listed on bulletin as Georgia Basel) and she is positively a Basel from our line. She also has a Michael Basel in her line. Check with her, as her GreatsGreat,s was my grandfather's brother, and like you, is from the parents before them.

Frank Basel isone of the Basels I do not have any information on, except a birthdate and his parents. He was born in Illinois on 30th of Sept 1868, ( my Great uncle)
and his parents were Fredericka Dell and Lewis Basel. Could this possiblely be your Frank Basel. He left Illionis as a child, but have a feeling he returned as a young adult. the family is from Schwartzburg Germany, arriving USA 1862.
