Cleveland Mansfield Basham

PRINCETON - Cleveland Mansfield Basham, 61 of 1017 Thornton Ave. in Princeton, died peacefully Thursday evening, July 22, 2004, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Born Nov. 2, 1942 in Rock, he was the son of the late James Cleveland and Mithie Williams Basham. He was a maintenance worker with a welding degree last working for Textron Fastening Systems in Wytheville, Va. He was a certified Ham Radio Operator and had various hobbies including wood working and traveling with his wife. He was born and raised in Mercer County then moved to Lavonia, Mich., where he resided for 15 years before returning to Princeton in 1977.

In addition to his parents, two brothers, Paul Basham and Burnie Basham; and one sister, Sue Frye preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Kitty Lilly Basham of Princeton; seven sisters, Ella Jane Elledge of Princeton, Cinda Lou Frady and special friend, Charlie Long, and Thelma Peck, all of Winston-Salem, N.C.., Phyllis Shrader and husband, Bill and Reva Shrader and husband, Jack, all of Graham, N.C., Bernice Mullens and husband, Jim of Princeton, and Nancy Piercey and husband, Elbert of Staley, N.C.; two brothers, Robert Basham and wife, Chris of Princeton and Carl Basham of Lashmeet; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Gary Simons officiating. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1808 Jefferson St., Bluefield, WV 24701.

WALKERTOWN - Mrs. Clara "Sue" Mae Basham Frye of 5105 Yukon Drive in Walkertown died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 12, 1944, in Rock, W.Va., to James Cleveland and Mithie Williams Bashan.

Mrs. Frye was retired from Tyco Industries following six years of service. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Frye is survived by her husband, Houston Wayne Frye of the home; three daughters, Sheila Ortiz and husband Bobby of Lexington, Sherry Standridge, and Jenny Frye Wooten and husband Kenny of Winston-Salem; three sons, Kevin McKnight, Derek Wayne Frye and wife Sabrena of Winston-Salem and Bart Keven Frye of High Point; a sister-in-law, Linda Frye Holder and husband Troy of Rural Hall; 11 grandchildren, Shenna Ortiz, Sheri Ortiz, Shawna Ortiz, Tisa Wooten, Amanda Wooten, Chelsea Frye, Victoria Frye, Sidney Frye, Tony Newcomb, Melissa Standridge and Danielle Standridge; three brothers, Cleveland Basham and wife Kitty, Carl Basham and Robert Basham and wife Chris of Princeton, W.Va.; and seven sisters, Jane Elledge and Bernice Mullens of Princeton, W.Va., Cinda Long and Thelma Peck of Winston-Salem, Reva Shrader of Graham, Phyllis Shrader of Graham and Nancy Piercy of Staley.

A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, at Vogler & Sons Main Street Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening, March 29, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27405.

Ella Jane (Basham) Perdue Elledge

PRINCETON - Ella Jane (Basham) Perdue Elledge, age 64, of 407 Harrison St., Princeton, passed away July 29, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Nov. 30, 1945 on Reece Harmon Ridge, Lashmeet, W.Va. to the late Cleveland and Mithie (Williams) Basham, Ella was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved spending time with her special friend, Harry Lee Phillips and her granddaughter, Melanie Perdue whom she raised and shared her home with. Ella was a homemaker and was loved by family and friends, and will leave many memories for all to cherish.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Basil Perdue; and her second husband, Robert Elledge; one sister, Clara Frye; three brothers, Cleveland Basham, Paul Basham and Burnie Basham.

Survivors include six children, Ricky Perdue and wife Cindy of Montcalm, Chester Perdue and wife Trish of Hillsville, Va., Kurt Perdue of Virginia, Renee’ Perdue and special friend Dennis Blankenship of Bluefield, Carl Perdue and wife Tammy of Montcalm, Wayne Perdue and wife Detsi of Montcalm; 14 grandchildren, Breanne of Montcalm, Chasisdy Perdue, Cassie Perdue, Chet Perdue of Hillsville, Va., Wesley Elledge of Bluefield, Melanie Perdue of the home, Dakota Dishner and Doreen Dishner of Montcalm, Brandon Perdue, Justin Perdue, Carla Perdue and C.J. Perdue of Montcalm, Kirkland Perdue of Kegley, Brooke Perdue of Montcalm;
brothers, Carl Basham and wife Terry of Rock, Robert Basham of Princeto

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with the Reverend Raymond Elledge officiating. Burial will follow in the Sarver Cemetery on the old Spanishburg Road in Spanishburg, W.Va. Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
