Im trying to get information on Thomas Lampton and Eliza Jane Basham. Thomas Lampton was born in 1823 in Breckinridge Co., KY and died bet. 1867-1870.
Eliza Jane Basham was born abt. 1828 in Breckinridge Co., KY and died after 1880. They married abt. 1848 in probably Breckinridge Co., KY. Eliza's second husband was Warner (Seth) Basham. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Services will be Tuesday at the Church of God at Seth for Mrs. Maud
Ivory Basham, 80, of Seth.

Burial will be in Pineview.

Mrs. Basham died Sunday morning of natural causes.

Born April 28, 1896, she was a daughter of the late Van and Rena
Jarrell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther.

Survivors include one son, Luther C. Basham of Columbus, Ohio; three
daughters, Mrs. Gladys Blizzard and Mrs. Irene Curry, both of Seth,
and Mrs. Mabel Dillon of Beckley; two brothers, Lonnie Jarrell of
Ottawa and Stanley Jarrell of Chapmanville; one sister, Mrs. Mamie
Brammer of Seth seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Deidre Basham

On Friday, September 25, 2009, our beloved Deidre Manning Basham of Glen Daniel died at Cabell Huntington hospital following a brief illness. She was 64 years of age.

Known affectionately as “Dee” all her life, Deidre was born on July 11, 1945, at Arnett, the first of three children born to Verna “Peggy” Baker Manning and the late Bee Manning.

Deidre attended the Bolt Church of God. A homemaker, she was devoted to her family and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

In addition to her devoted mother, Peggy, Deidre is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Daniel O. Basham; she was the precious mother of Loretta Richardson and her husband Duane of Fairdale; Daniel W. Basham and Michael E. Basham and his wife Randa all of Glen Daniel; the doting Ma Ma B to Makayla and Brooklyn Basham; the sweet sister of Bee Carmel Manning and his wife Nancy of Fairdale and Jean Thompson and her husband Gary of Beckley; a large extended family and a host of friends will cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Randall Pugh officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of the services.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Does anybody know if her sister is the Elizabeth BASHAM that married Lewis TACKETT? The BASHAM connection is one of my current brick walls. Lewis and Elizabeth were both born in VA and migrated to Pope County, AR about 1840.

Among the victims of the Mountain Meadows Massacre in September 1857 was the extended family of their son Martin TACKETT. Also listed among the dead was a George D. BASHAM. He was almost certainly related.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Mack Albert Basham

Mack Albert Basham, age 99 years and 10 months, of Cool Ridge, W.Va., was promoted to his heavenly home on Friday, July 10, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., surrounded by his children.

Born on Sept. 11, 1909, at Mt. View, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Lewis “Dock” Basham and Rosalie Lilly Basham.

Mr. Basham was a retired coal miner and farmer. He loved farming, and hunting turkey and deer.

He was a member of the Little Bethel Regular Baptist Church on Mt. View Road for many years, where he loved witnessing and singing.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Basham was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Chloea Marie Ransom Basham; by an infant son, and a son, James Paul Basham; by a grandson, David Jon Basham; by sisters Ida Lester, Willie Stanley, Monnie Ransom, Minnie Farmer, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Lester, Zanzie Cole; and by brothers, Lonnie James and Lincoln.

Surviving are five sons, Mack Albert “Lewis” Basham and wife Dollie Furrow Basham of Cool Ridge, W.Va., George Edward Basham and wife Margot Prehm Basham of Shady Spring, W.Va., Palma Lee Basham and wife Becky Poe Basham of Wilkesboro, N.C., Charles Leroy Basham and wife Ann Vines Basham of Cool Ridge, W.Va., William Harland “Bill” Basham and wife Patty Worley Basham of Beckley, W.Va.; two daughters, Lola Marie Farley and husband Leslie of Cool Ridge, W.Va., Wanda Ardena Tolliver and husband Roger of Shady Spring, W.Va.; 22 grandchildren, William Lewis Basham, Kenneth Charles Basham, Mary Ellen Lilly, Pauline Pierce, Margot Carol Griffith, Charlotte Basham, Jane Morris, William Harland Basham Jr., Cathy Painter, Kimberly Johnson, Kevin Basham, Sonja Basham, Nancy Elaine Reece, Donnie Basham, Nancy Leann Combs, Ronald Farley, Debbie Jones, Sandy Bowman, Douglas Farley, Pamela Tyree, Kelli Dawn Smith, Susan Beth Almond; 49 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with Elder Brice Phillips, Elder Verne Blankenship and Elder Lonnie Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at the Lilly Cemetery at Mt. View, W.Va.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

I may be a lot late on this.But Lucy Basham married Thomas "Long Tom" Simmons On Sept.17,1799 Franklin Co.TN.
Her Father was William Basham Jr.1745 VA.-1834 Breckenridge Co.KY and her mother was Sarah "Molly" Shrewsbury 1760 VA-1830 Breckenridge Co.KY.Lucy had 6 sisters and 3 brothers their names are.
Elizabeth,Celia,Rhoda,Peggy,Mary,Nancy,Cary,Uriah and Barnett.

Well, I think Bartlett Basham moved to Warren Co. from Breckenridge Co. My g-g-grandmother Lucinda Basham Hardin was born in Breckenridge Co. The marriage applications of seven of her children all list Breckenridge Co. as her birthplace. She married my g-g-grandfather, Joel Hardin, in Warren Co. Most people assume that she was the Lucinda Basham that was the daughter of Bartlett Basham and his second wife, Nicey Simmons Basham. I don't know that there is any definitive proof. That's about all I know. I don't believe this is the Bartlett Angel Basham, but the other Bartlett Basham.

I'd still love a Basham genealogist to fill me in.

in the 1850 census in breckenridge county,ky, it is listed as brack. sometimes the census takers spell names the way they think it sounded. someone could have spelled it as brock. just a variation of brack.

james henry basham was married before he married mary o. higgs. her name was eliza ross. apparently she died in childbirth giving birth to james' first son, william elva basham who was born in february 1878. james' parents were henry blades basham and sarah jane brack.

Dear Family Member,
I am the granddaughter of Hansel Basham. I found a sibling of his in the birth register in Wyoming Co. court house records. She is listed as Vessil Basham born to Henery and Louanna Basham November 1907. I can't find any other record of her and she is not listed in the family bible. If you know anything please reply. I am also looking for any other information you have on the Basham line.
