Just saw an old, old post of yours about Basingers. My husband's 3rd great grandmother is Catherine Bassinger (1782-1870). Her father is Abraham Bassinger (1759-1783). Catherine married John Henry Etling about 1804. I would certainly like more information on this family.

Hi! I am working on my family tree. I am working on my grandfather Joseph William Neeper. His parents were Fred Neeper and Elizabeth Clark Neeper. I cannot find any information on them. Any information would be a blessing. The only thing that I do know is that Fred was born in 2/1888 and died in 4/1975. I can't find anything on Elizabeth. The children are also Jack, Harold, Bert, Edna, Evelyn, and Joseph. I did find a listing for another sister Mildred but have never heard of or met her. I can't seem to find any information on her. Please any help would be appreciated. My email is hjmckenzie@hotmail.com Heather

Hi PBashinger91H, it has been too long since I have contact with you but many issues other than my health have come up. I hope you are doing well and if I remember you are Pat Basinger, a women, correct? Please forgive me if I am incorrect, we are taking care of my husbands parents who have alzheizheimers and are in the last stages, and the stress level is very high here. Please update me on any info you may have about my heritage because my father adoptive father that is, has been messing with my head, telling me things that don't make sense according to my memory as a young child and going to the courthouse to be adopted by Mr. Mason, though my Mother Lorna Haskit Basinger Mason told me that my real father was indeed Jack frank Basinger, which my name, Leslie Elizabeth fits with all the family tree info you have sent me in the past, I do believe. Mr. Mason tried to tell me that my real father was someone else that my mother had an affair with, which is not the mother I knew at all, she was very religious ever since I remember and she was very upset that she had been divorced because it went against what she believed in. The Assemble of God Church religion. Anyway, good to hear from you again, please contact me soon at pastorleslie@gmail.com if you can or care to. Thanks Les

Les;
Hi; got to thinking about your up coming move and wondered -
do you have any pictures of this side of the family? I have several, Nicholas,Veda, and some others. Also one of my aunt with a man standing next to her by the name of Jack????? 'Don't want to get your hopes up but got to pondering this.
At the time I found it mom didn't seem to know who he is and Grandma Veda had passed on. As so many have of that time period.'
Anyway I would be happy to put together some of what I have for you to either take to your new home (Oh dear something else to pack) or I can mail it to you when you get settled. OR maybe we could meet somewhere between where you are now and us in Hemet. What'a think. That could prove interesting, huh?
Will leave it up to you... BLESSINGS and love p

Hi,

I know we have to be related, where else did I get the name Leslie from, since there were none on my mothers side of the family, not the Haskit or the Dunn side. She told me I was named after the movie star Leslie Caron , which I thought was strange, but she told me that before she told me that she had been married before and my "father" had adopted my from Jack Basinger. I have memories of going to court when I was very young and a man in a black robe asking me all kinds of questions about my "father" if he was nice to me, if he punished me if I did anything wrong, etc. but didn't know it was court or he was a judge, I just remember walking up all these steps and going without my brother or sister, just my mother and father. I used to watch "Divocre Court" when I was young and asking my mother if she was ever divorced and she just changed the subject. It is funny the things you remember when you are really small, my mother married my "father" when I was under 2, so they started adoption proceedings right away but Jack
Basinger wouldn't reply to the adoption request, so they had to wait 7 years to consider me abandonded by my father before they would finalizs my adoption papers. I just think it was really wierd that I remembered going to a big building with lots of steps etc. and some of the questions. I don't know how old I was, but I know I wasn't in school yet.

What do you know about the Basinger family tree? I have never seen a listing, and would love to know more. At one time, I did see something that showed a whole lot of Leslie's , mostly men on the Basinger listing I saw, but I don't know where I saw it. I am not very good at looking up things on Ancestory.com or the internet, please forgive me for my ignorance. I have spent too much time working on my pastorial and chaplains degrees that I haven't had the luxery of searching the internet like I shoulod or learning more about how to do searches. I am sorry.\

Write soon if you have time and wish to correspond.

blessings,

Leslie Basinger Mason Martinez

Hi Pat,

Very good to hear from you after I dropped out of the world for a while with the ministry and my health and then my husband was disabled at work and life got even more crazy. He had to have 5 surgeries, all the while we were doing ministry as much as we were able and it was very hard on us, we felt at the time we were letting tbe Lord down but I know now we were under attack from the enemy and we didn't take it to the Lord and leave it with Him, it just was a test to see how strong we were. It taught me alot about giving things the Him and leaving it in His care as we are instructed to in the bible. Live and learn, and learn some more, right? Isn't that how we learn how to teach others by some first hand experience of our incorrect responses to the things we walk through in life.

Did you have a blessed Easter? We did, outside of some problems with my husbands sister bringing a cat and just dropping it off at our house without saying a word until afterword, because we have three dogs and two cats, she figured one more wouldn't hurt.
Some people are nuts, myself included I feel some days.

Raul, my husband, is now disabled at 53, has been unable to do his "day job" for over 3 years and multiple surgeries, he has been declared permanently disabled. That has been hard to adjust to, but I do enjoy having him home all the time.

We are getting ready to move from Calfornia to Iowa within the next couple of months, it is much less money to live there then here in CA. I just pray the cold doesn't hurt our arthritis too much. I am trusting in the Lord. We have already located a wonderful church which has already offered us positions, we are still praying about the positions, we are just going to keep praying and following the Lords lead.

I don't know anything about when or what my father Jack Fraak died of,his death certificate lists both as unknown.
Strange.
Do you have any info by any chance. It is strange that Gracie passed on before Erton when he was in a nursing home for many years and outlived her. You never know, it came as a big suprise to me. I don't remember what her cause of death was. I am not very good at getting on the death certificate info line and finding out what I need to know. I have to admit my intenet skills have gotten pretty rusty since we have gotten so involved in ministry and stayihg to stay healthy.

I had two heart attacks in January, and I am only 51. My heart enzymes were off and caused the heart attacks. I had had a migraine for over 2 weeks and wasn't eating enough and drinking enough fluids so my potassium, magnusium and sodium as well as just about everything else was off. My heart is in pretty good shape according to the doctors considering. They did a stress test, chemically induced because of my back problems, and I had a grand mal seizure during the test. That wasn't very pleasant, scarier than the heart attacks. I think it was so scarry for me because they wouldn't let my husband in the room during the test and I was already nervous. I need to practice what I preach. The Lord has really been working on me, and it has helped my ministry and the ability for one on one with the people in the hospitals and the nursing homes.

Have you found any more relatives on the Basinger side? I would love to know more about my genealogy since I don't know very much and don't have anyone to talk to that knows anything. It is very frustrating.

Please take care of yourself my sweet cousin, I love to hear from you.

God Bless and Love,

Leslie (Les)

Hi Lisa,

Sorry it took me so long to reply, my life got crazy after I was in a major accident and then went into ministry in nursing homes and hospitals after my husband and I went through seminary and I got overwelmed with therapy and ministry, etc. Please forgive me. I believe I did speak to you at one time.

I don't know anything about Jacks death, in the postings I looked up a while back, years ago, it said date of death unknown and cause of death unknown. Do you know anything about the Erton, Gracie, and Jack family info? I have no one to ask since my mother died, and her family doesn't know anything since they are all back east and my mother was a very private person and didn't like to talk about her divorce, etc. since her religion didn't believe in it, no matter what the case. I understand from my aunt that Jack drank alot and it was suspected that he used to hurt her when he drank.

Hope to hear from you soon, and please forgive me.

Leslie Basinger, mason, Martinez
Hi,
Sorry it took so long to reply, I haven't been on the computer due to health, moving, etc. The only thing I can tell you is that Erton and Gracie only has the one child, Frank, and was only married to my mother, Lorna Frances Hasket, I was their only child, born in 1958, December 19th. I have two children, both boys, born Brian Paul Denney in September 30, 1979 and John Harris Denney on June 12, 1981. My son Brian has 3 children, 2 boys and 1 daughter. John has one daughter. I did not have any more children after I remarried in 1987 and have been blessed by my wonderful husband for 23 years. ]

Do you have a copy of the family tree as I have not one copy left after we flooded our downstairs and my work wasn't backed up like a dummy. Live and learn the hard way, unfortunately.

Love and blessings from your cousin (I do believe).

Les (Leslie Martinez

Hi Pat,

Please, please forgive me for being silent for so long, I was very ill and then my husband was very ill and then we had to move, the whole boring nine yards.

Anyhows, how are you doing my sweet cousin? I pray you and yours are well. My husband Raul and I became Pastors after I broke my back and neck and decided to give back what has been so graciously given to us, and it keeps us busy between bad body days but feel extremely blessed.

My mother, Lorna, divorced Frank Basinger when I was really young and was adopted by her husband , Raymond Mason who has been a fantastic father. He is still doing well, up in his 80's and moving better then I am.

Frank, according to the death record I found many years ago died at an unspecified date and of unknown causes, which is not the answer I was hoping for. I understand he had a drinking problem, etc. Poor soul, I pray he found the right path before his time here was over. Gracie passed in Norwalk California long after Frank did, and Erton, who was in a nursing home the one and only time I got to speak with her after the divorce was a very sweet woman, and she was sure that Erton would go before her, but she went home to the Lord before Erton did. They still lived in the same house in Norwalk that my mother told me about when I was about 16 (which was when I was finally given the truth about my heritage, or the full truth). She still had a stuffed animal that I was holding in a picture at about 6 months of age. I wish I would have stayed in contact with her, but I was in the middle of planning my wedding when I went to meet her (I was only 18, oh to be young and take things slower than I did, oh well.) My husband didn't feel comfortable because she kept looking over her shoulder like someone else was in the house and seemed a bit nervous. I know my mother said that she used to show up at all my school plays, the parades I was in, etc. but I was never told this until my mother got the courage to tell me. She was very embarassed that she was a divorced women, back in the late 50's and her strict religion didn't click.

Sorry to bore you with such trivial things, I don't know too much more of the Basingers, hope you can fill me in. The computer that had all my info in it was lost in a flooded downstairs and unfortunately I hadn't backed it up.

God Bless,

Cousin Les (Leslie Martinez)
