Looking for a photo of William J. (Bill) Bass who married Martha J. Highsmith. They were from the Alachua Co., FL area. I am doing a Bass Family History Book and lack 3 photos to complete the family. I am searching for more information on Cader Bass 1750-1791 of Bertie County, NC. He was the son of Isaac Bass and Nancy Bunch although he is not listed in his father’s will as he predeceased him.

He is mentioned in his grandfather Henry Bunch’s will: Henry Bunch’s will in Bertie on 21 April 1775, proved in August 1775. He had already deeded 840 acres of land on Conaritsat and Mulberry to his grandson Jeremiah, Jr., in 1765, and in his will left most of the remainder of his land to his grandson Cader Bass.

Bertie County Bastardy Bonds list:
Cader Bass 3 child 1780 Bondsman: Cader Bass, William Cherry and John Wolfender
Sarah Farmer August 1787 Bondsman Cater Bass, Edward Outlaw and Margaret Standly
Ann Wilson November 1787 Bondsman Cader Bass, Josiah Collins, James Wilford

These bonds state that he listed three children himself in 1780, one child by Sarah Farmer in August 1787 and another child by Ann Wilson November 1787.

The extract of his will states a daughter Barsheba and a wife.

Does anyone have any information regarding his 5 children from the Bastardy Bonds, his wife or his daughter Barsheba?

I am related to Edward Bass (1760-1819) who had a brother, Moses who was born abt 1760. Is this your Moses Bass? Edward's father was Aaron Bass and his mother was Nancy Gray I'm told. I have not verified that part. this Moses was born in NC.

John William (1876-1878) parents were John Franklin and Eliza Ann Bass.

Any descendants of John (1630-1716) Bass and Ruth (1634/5-1674) Alden? Their daughter Hannah married Joseph Adams, Jr. of the presidential Adams line. I'm looking for information about Ransom Bass, who appears on the 1850 census in Cherokee County, Texas with his wife Mahala S Bass, and their child William Lafayette Bass.

Ransom Bass married Mahala Self in 1846 in Calhoun County, Alabama.

The census indicates that Ransom was born in Georgia about 1828, Mahala was born in Alabama about about 1827, and their son, William Lafayette, was born in Alabama about 1849. They are living next door to Mahala's parents, Isaac and Martha (Patsey) Miles Self.

There is a large household of Basses living elsewhere in Cherokee County on this same census. If I am reading the census correctly, the family is Willis and Elizabeth Bass, their several children, and Willis' mother, Bathenia.

Does anyone know anything about my Ransom Bass, and whether he might be related in some way to this family?

Would like any information on Alice Bass, who married James Harvey Ilant. They had two sons and three daughters, the last born October 13, 1912 in Butler, County, Missouri. Alice Bass may have had a sister, Nora or Norah who married another man named Ilant. Believe Alice's parents to be Daniel and Mary Elizabeth Bass. The name Ilant was spelled Island by other family members. Have been totally unable to find the Ilant name by use of the internet thus far.

My 7th Great Grandfather was Aaron Bass (Sr.) b. 1710 Bertie North Carolina.....
try, hard as I might, I cannot find whom he married. I suspect her name has been lost to history, by any one or more of a different explanations. It could have been because his mother was either black, indian, or mullatoe, or that he also married a black, indian, or mullatoe. And whether these women were "free persons of color" or slaves, is also not known. It may just be that she pre-deceased Aaron, and had no dealings with legal matters, so her name may not have appeared anywhere, in any surviving documents.....or has it?

Does anyone out there have any information on, Aaron Bass's wife????

Searching for descendants of Andrew and Serena Bass. Andrew was born about 1800, died in the 1870s in Dale County, Alabama. Serena was born about 1823, died (I think) between 1888 and 1900.

Richard E. Bass, 1840 - after 1910, married Elizabeth P. Stickland, who I believe was a widow. Children include Courtney, Emily, Zillah Frances, Richard E., Jr., and Amanda E.
Zillah married W.A. Williford and Richard Jr. married Emma, maiden name not known.

Zillah Frances Bass, 1845 - ?, married John Benefield. Daughter Barbara Jane Benefield born about 1867.

James P. Bass, 1846 - 1898, married Margaret Hays. Children were Della, Alice, Lilla, Victoria, Noah Bryant, and James Arthur. Alice married a Craft, Lilla married a McCallister, and James Arthur married Trula _.

Sarah Elizabeth, 1852-1890, married James C. Tidwell. At least one child born, Lucy.

Other children of Andrew and Serena include Serena, Courtney, Emaline, and Victoria.

Would like to tie down more closely some of these death dates, and would really like to know where Serena and Richard are buried. Information and leads much appreciated!

On the 28th of February, 1911, God sent his angels to earth and claimed the beautiful Christ-like spirit of our dear mother and took her home to dwell with
him forever.
Mrs. M. A. Bass, wife of Everette Bass, was born April 1, 1844. Had she lived one month longer she would have been 67 years old. She joined the church in early youth and lived a devoted Christian life. We feel in our loss her gain.
She leaves a husband, three sons and four daughters, two brothers and three sisters.
All the children except the oldest son, who is in Oklahoma were by her bedside.

Dear mother we grieve to give you up, But not as those who have no hope, We know that in the better land We will meet and know you as our own.
God saw it best to take you home, We will not question him,
But strive to meet you in that home Where parting is no more.

One who loved Her.

Mary Ann Walters was born Apr 1, 1844 and died Feb 28, 1911. She was the daughter of Speir Walters and Mary Ann Nichols. She married Everette Bass May 18, 1868 in Robison Co., NC.

Hardie Bass

My father was Hardy Lensford Bass; His father was Hardie Benjamin Bass; His father was Walter Tecumseh Bass whose father Benjamin or Frank (or both!) came to the Catahoula Parish area after the Civil War. We have been having a heck of a time getting through that brick wall. My father was born and raised in the LaSalle Parish Louisiana area around Tullos. Benjamin (or Franklin) was said to have come from Mississippi, but we cannot establish the connection. Any help out there?

I understand from postings on the Web that it has a transcript of the Will of Jordan Bass who married Bethena Gay, but I can't find the actual text of the will anywhere. There is a Wm Henry Bass buried in the Whitmire Cemetery in Escambia Co., FL. His gravemarker has him listed as a Confederate Soldier, but, there is no indication as to what state, regiment or company he served with.

The tombstone shows a birthday of: October 18, 1845 and a death date of October 18, 1845.

I could not find him in Florida for 1910, but, I found another Wm Henry Bass on the Florida Death Index for 1920. This one served in the 59th Georgia.

Does anyone have any data on the Wm Henry at the Whitmire Cemetery? Where he was born, whom he served with, etc. I would appreciate any data as I am trying to account for every soldier I can.

Mary Rieves (on bond), Mary Bass (on return) married Floyd Henley 25 Aug 1842, Benton Co., AL. by Wm. Reaves, JP. Mary had married first, either a Bass or a Rieves. It is likely Rieves/Reaves/Reeves was her maiden name, and she married first, unknown Bass as Jane Bass(age 16 b AL) is found in the 1850 Cherokee Co., AL census residing with Floyd Henley and Mary (age 49 b NC) Henley.
Is there a researcher who has done in-depth work on the Reaves or Bass lines that can fill in more info on Mary? Who were her parents? What Bass did she marry and where? I have been unable to find Mary or Floyd Henley in the 1860 census.

I'm trying to found out more information about my paternal grandfather, (my grandmother & he divorced when my mom was 1 or 2) except all I know is name was Harold Bass and I have two photos of him.

From the family history I know, he married Carol Dean Pugh sometime in 1961. Their first child was Timothy Dalton who was born April 15, 1962 and was their a stillbirth or died of SIDS a few days later. He had two more children with Carol: Kimberly Ann (9/26/63, my mother) and Scott Charles (9/30/64). They lived in Gulfport, Mississippi during this time.

I've never been able to find any information about Harold Bass. The only other connection to him I have is a picture of my mom with Harold's grandmother, Great-Grandma Daniels.
