I am looking for any information of August Alfred Basset,
According to Family Lore he was:
b. in France; unknown year, before 1890, d. 1920 in Canada, m. Francis Davis (b. Montreal Canada), had 7 children, - Jim, Augusta Francis, Marie, Norman, Louis, Simone Rosile-Gabrielle (Basset) Gromly (my grandmother) b. 1906, and Gerald. He supposedly won an French award for saving a Cambodian Prince's Life the "Breddt De Chevalier de L'rodre" and was bestowed the title "Spirit of the Light" and then worked a lighthouse in St. Pierre Island an territory of France, but right off of Canada. I have tried to contact the French Consulate about the award several times, no one will respond.
Thank You---Robert
