You can contact me via my website: pixleyblair.tribalpages.com
Click the 'contact me' link at the top of the home page. I can reply from my email address.
You can also check what I have on my website about this line. Type the surname into the upper right 'Find' box.
I just completed pedigree research program on Robert
Bassett, b 1560 Heyshott, Sussex. Ended up with 114 persons, 94 of which trace back to Bathel, Duke of the Normans. As you can imagine, this spreadsheet is huge. Should you wish to review this project, reply to jvbft@cox.net. Jim

Hi, I go back to the Bassets about 3 times so far. Ralph and Gilbert lines descend from Thurston Basset the Norman, son of Osmund by many accounts. Anyway, by son Ralph the Justiciar who died 1120, their are 5 sons: Thurstine who got Colston Basset, Thomas who go Headington and from them the Wyucombe Bassets descend, Ralph who got Drayton, Nicholas whose manorsreverted to Henry II, and Gilbert who got Little Rissington. Burke's Peerage and other sources. there is a thread of research on Gilbert that is very interesting research. Lynn

John Webb & Anna Basset: Married when/where?

About 5 years ago I posted my query on genforum and never got any responses and I have since seen others use/have the same information that I had had over the years, but never have I really found any documentation for the marriage date of John Webb and Anna Basset. So: where did they marry and when? If her parents were of New Haven or Hartford at the time I guess she would have been married there but I have never been able to find this marriage in VRs.... has anyone else had more luck than I have? Apparently after John and Anna were married, they moved to Boston as I have births/deaths of children there - I am tracking them all now - previously I ignored them since my line from this couple comes down through daughter Mary "Mara" born in Hartford...

Is there anyone out there who knows anything about this Reginald Basset? None of the threads I've read on your message board seem to include a Reginald or Reynold who is referred to as a local knight of either of these shires, and who must certainly have been in his middle years while he held the shrievalty. He and Gilbert de Seagrave apparently traded the post of sheriff through the years 1194-1197, Reginald holding the seat in his own right (having offered 66 marks for it in 1194--so not an inconsequential man) and Gilbert holding it as undersheriff beneath Wm D'Albini of Belvoir.

Thanks much,
Denise
